Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet, Beauty and a Whole Lotta Pink! (Post 775)
Hello darlings!
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another dose of Pink Tutu Prague! This week, my dear readers, has been filled with the kind of magic that only Prague can conjure. Let me tell you, this city is bursting with romance, beauty and history, all rolled into one!
Oh, before I forget, you simply must know I’m dressed to the nines in my blush pink tulle confection (it’s a little different from the ones I usually wear - imagine a soft, dreamy blush pink that blends with the pale gold of the Old Town buildings!), topped with a darling little floral headband. I just can’t resist the allure of pink when it comes to Prague, it truly seems to suit the city's charming air!
And speaking of enchanting things, last night was truly a highlight of this trip. Remember how I’ve been longing to see the famed National Theatre? Well, darling, let’s just say the anticipation was worth every penny! I had a ticket to the ballet (my passion!) and let me tell you, the performances were simply divine!
Oh, but before I start rambling about all the graceful leaps and graceful pirouettes (you’d think I could only speak about ballet!) let me tell you about my day…
The morning started off with a lovely little walk in the Petrin Hill. The weather has been so wonderful; crisp, clear and with a beautiful, gentle breeze - perfect for frolicking about in my pink tulle! The view from the hill is truly breathtaking. Prague's stunning red roofs, with the majestic Prague Castle crowning the landscape, looks almost as if it's been painted by a master artist. I stood there, mesmerised by the panorama, thinking about all the history this city holds. Imagine all the stories that have unfolded beneath those tiled roofs!
For lunch, I indulged in the most divine treat. You wouldn’t believe the delicious pastry I found in a little hidden cafe on the Old Town Square! It was a fluffy puff pastry filled with cherry jam and topped with a delicate dusting of powdered sugar – the perfect way to recharge for an afternoon of ballet history!
You see, I simply cannot be in Prague without visiting the National Theatre. The building is truly majestic, its grand façade adorned with intricate statues and sculptures that just scream “classical elegance!” The theatre was built back in the 19th century – imagine, darling! Think of all the incredible ballet dancers who graced those very stage boards! This beautiful edifice embodies a rich history of art, culture and theatrical magic. I found myself wondering who would I have seen if I was lucky enough to attend performances in those days, imagine - maybe Tchaikovsky himself conducting or Anna Pavlova swirling across the stage, Oh my!
Inside, I got to wander through the plush lobbies and gaze up at the glittering chandeliers. I even found my way to a quaint little gift shop and, oh my darling, the tutus! Imagine, ballet costumes galore, some beautifully ornate and elaborate with shimmering sequins and feathers - even the tutu I wore that day pales in comparison to those! I almost purchased a vintage one - but you know me, my purse always wants to have the final say, even if it does mean leaving the shop with nothing but dreams.
After soaking up the history of the National Theatre, I was ready for a dose of modern culture and my evening ballet show. My choice, the beautiful La Sylphide. The performance was a stunning display of technical prowess and graceful movements. Every leap and twirl left me speechless! I have to confess I had a slight flutter of nerves when I walked into the auditorium. The energy was palpable and I even saw some faces I recognized from my earlier visit to the Prague Opera! There I was, surrounded by fellow ballet lovers, in the heart of this historical venue - I felt as if I’d been swept away into the pages of a classic fairy tale!
But alas, even the most beautiful of performances come to an end and, soon enough, I was on the tram heading back to my cozy little hotel. I drifted off to sleep thinking about all the graceful ballet steps I’d witnessed – those graceful movements simply danced around in my head until I drifted off.
Tomorrow is a new day! A new adventure, a new opportunity to fall deeper in love with Prague! I’m already thinking about where I’ll go – perhaps a trip to the Old Town Square, a walk along the Charles Bridge, or maybe even a journey to the magical* Vyšehrad Cemetery*! I promise you I’ll keep you posted on all my exploits. And please, darling, don’t forget to check out my blog next week for another dose of pink and fabulousness!
Until then, be bold, be beautiful, and remember, every day is an opportunity to twirl!
Yours in pink,
Emma
