Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Ballet and Beauty (Post #780)

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague! This magical city has stolen my heart with its cobblestone streets, charming cafes, and, of course, a thriving ballet scene that left me utterly enchanted.

It's Wednesday, the day I always share my travels with you all, and this week I'm back from the most incredible journey. This is my Prague blog, the 780th post on my adventures, and I can't wait to share it with you all.

I arrived in Prague on a Tuesday, feeling rather like Cinderella on her way to the ball, except my carriage was a wonderfully comfortable train journey from Germany (with a delicious apple strudel, naturally). Prague’s central station is an architectural masterpiece, grand and elegant. You could practically hear the waltzes swirling around the columns as I skipped onto the platform.

Of course, my wardrobe was bursting with vibrant pink. Pink is simply the perfect colour for a pink tutu-wearing ballerina. My suitcases overflowed with tulle and silk, ready for all the adventures I had planned. My trusty vintage suitcases are from Derbyshire, I had them since I was a little girl. I do love Derbyshire. Its green hills, cute cottages, and stunning landscapes always make me feel at home. But back to Prague.

My first stop, naturally, was a delightful little boutique specializing in ballet wear. I confess, my pockets are usually a little lighter after a ballet shopping spree, but it’s an absolute must when I'm travelling. I picked up the most adorable pair of pale pink ballet slippers - a real bargain - and a shimmering sequined leotard, perfect for the Prague ballet classes I was eager to take.

After settling into my charming, old-fashioned hotel in the heart of Prague (with the most delicious smelling lavender soap I’ve ever encountered!), I found myself at the National Theatre, where I enjoyed a magnificent production of "La Sylphide." It was like stepping into a fairy tale. The ballerinas were simply ethereal, their movements so graceful and expressive. The entire experience made me feel like I was part of a beautiful dream.

You may not be surprised to know, I'm rather passionate about the history of ballet. And what better place to delve into its roots than in Prague, a city steeped in musical and artistic history? So, after a quick stop at the exquisite Prague Castle (my Instagram feed has been awash with those incredible views!) and an afternoon indulging in delicious local pastries in the charming Old Town Square, I headed to the magical “Museum of Musical Instruments." Imagine: hundreds of historical instruments including violins, cellos, and the oldest keyboard instruments in Europe.

Now, there's nothing I love more than experiencing a city’s culture through its street performances. So, my wanderings took me through the cobbled streets and charming squares of Prague, and what should I find but a troupe of street performers performing a wonderful interpretation of “The Swan Lake.” It was magical, and they were wearing tutus – obviously!

Oh, how I love tutus! Not just the classic pink tulle ones, but every type imaginable – from bright, colorful tutus to sleek black ones and the most beautiful sparkly creations. Every day feels like a ballet when I’m wearing one. Even in Prague! And believe me, Prague has some amazing tutu shops.

To finish the day in style, I tucked into a plate of Prague’s famous dumplings - they were heavenly, I promise!

However, I wasn’t just content to admire the ballets and beauty of Prague. I am a dancer after all. And Prague's ballet school is one of the most renowned in Europe. So naturally, I was thrilled to sign up for a class. I had to fit in some practice for my next performance, you see, and you'd be surprised just how much energy you use in a ballet class.

As the graceful movements of classical ballet took over my being, it felt like I was gliding on air. My teacher was truly amazing - incredibly passionate about the art and truly committed to sharing her knowledge. You’ll be pleased to hear, the other dancers were incredibly welcoming. We laughed, practiced, and stretched, bonding over our shared love for dance.

The evening ended at the famous Municipal House. Prague has a reputation for the most incredible venues, and the Municipal House didn't disappoint! I even found a local shop that sells beautiful ballet-inspired jewelry, with gorgeous pieces perfect for adding that special touch of pink and sparkle to any outfit.

After that class, I felt inspired, happy and revitalized. But that's just the first day in Prague. In future blogs I will take you with me on a journey of fashion, art and music! My adventures with the ponies have already begun (no tutu required, thankfully) and the local opera singers are definitely going to be appearing in the Pink Tutu blogs soon! So make sure you visit www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday to follow my Prague adventure, and join me in the pink!

See you soon, darlings!

Emma
