Pink Tutu Prague - Post #783: A Ballerina's Dream in the City of a Hundred Spires!

Wednesday, 28th April, 2010

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague, the city of a hundred spires. I've been bouncing about like a pink bouncy castle all week, and it's time for me to share all the wonderful, pink-tinted, tutu-tastic details with you!

Travel in Style (And Comfort)

I'm such a sucker for trains! The rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels against the tracks is like a lullaby, and it allows me to get properly into my pink daydreams. This journey, however, began in a most peculiar manner: on the back of a gorgeous grey pony named Clementine! It was a little adventure to reach the train station in Derbyshire, and Clementine's soft coat was simply begging to be stroked. I even convinced the farmer to allow me to dress her in a tiny pink tutu – for the perfect Instagram, of course!

The Magic of Prague

Prague just whisked me away. From the moment I stepped off the train and onto the cobbled streets, it felt like I was walking through a fairytale. The colours, the architecture, the friendly locals – everything just exuded charm. Even the pink sunrise over the Charles Bridge looked as if it had been painted by an artist's hand. I was in a trance, and it was all too much for my pink tutu-loving heart to bear!

Tutu Treasures

My first mission, of course, was to find the perfect Prague-themed tutu. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a tiny boutique tucked away on a cobbled side street, filled with exquisite fabrics, sparkling sequins, and the most vibrant shades of pink imaginable! The lovely shop owner helped me create a truly unique tutu – adorned with tiny, crystal-studded miniature spires and delicate Czech lace. It’s a show-stopping masterpiece, if I do say so myself!

Ballet in the Heart of Prague

The highlight of my trip was definitely seeing a performance by the National Theatre Ballet at the National Theatre! Oh, the sheer elegance! The ballet was a vibrant and lively production of "La Bayadère," which was perfect for this vibrant and magical city. Their tutus, even if not pink, were so beautifully constructed and intricate – it made me wish I could have worn all of them. Maybe I'll have a new ballet tutu wardrobe next year, complete with a "Prague collection!"

Food, Fashion, and Festivities

No visit to Prague is complete without indulging in some of their delicious local treats! From the iconic Trdelník – a sweet, chimney-like pastry dusted with cinnamon – to creamy Czech goulash and the rich, melt-in-your-mouth "Svíčková," I couldn’t resist the tempting food stalls and cafés dotted all around the city. Each day I tried a new outfit, a new treat, a new view. Every experience added a sprinkle of pink fairy dust to my magical journey.

A Ballerina's Eye for Fashion

Speaking of fashion, let’s talk about the stylish Prague locals. Their effortless bohemian chic was truly inspirational! It's amazing how much flair they managed to infuse into their outfits, often pairing intricate, colourful patterns with classic, simple silhouettes. It made me realize that it’s not just about what you wear, but how you carry yourself – a lesson every ballerina knows. My mission: find the perfect outfit to pair with my new Prague tutu, a sartorial fusion of pink elegance and Parisian cool. (Don’t worry, darling – I’ll be posting a full-on fashion extravaganza soon, with detailed photos! You'll just love the way my tutu looks with the floral, flowy skirt and oversized sunhat. It's utterly captivating, if I may say so myself! )

Ballet Beyond the Stage

And now for a little history lesson! Did you know that Prague boasts a fascinating ballet history? I found out that Prague’s first ballet performance was held back in 1632, a whole century before ballet became widely popular across Europe. Prague is practically the birthplace of the art form in Central Europe, and its ballets are some of the most revered in the world. The rich history just oozes through every street corner – I just had to include a couple of ballet-themed historical treasures in my "Pink Prague Collection!"

Ballet Everywhere, All The Time!

Prague definitely knows how to party! Everywhere I went, there were lively musicians, buskers, and dancers – some even performing in the streets, which added a little flair and sparkle to my shopping excursions. It made me realize that the stage isn't the only place for ballet; every street can become a stage! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a street dance troupe wearing fluffy, bright pink tutus and sparkly fairy wings! They were dazzling everyone with their routines, their faces lit up with a sense of joy and freedom. They just reinforced my passion – to share the wonder of ballet with the entire world, to empower people of all ages, all walks of life to express themselves with passion and joy. I mean, a pink tutu isn't just about dance; it's about spreading love, acceptance, and a dash of sparkle!

My Prague Promise: Pink Tutus for Everyone!

Prague truly is a city that inspires. It’s a city that makes you want to twirl and twirl and twirl, with the wind whipping through your pink tutu as you dance through the cobbled streets, stopping only to gaze upon the magnificent architecture. But most importantly, it's a city that encourages you to be your most authentic self, embracing the joy of life and spreading a touch of magic wherever you go. I’ve learned so much during my time here - about ballet, about Prague, about myself. But most importantly, I've re-ignited my passion: to share the love of tutus, to inspire everyone to put on a pink tutu and express themselves freely!

Until next week, my loves, stay tuned for more Pink Tutu adventures from around the world!

XOXO,

Emma
