Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet-Filled Bohemian Dream (Post #784)
Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your pink-tutu-loving travel companion, and this week we're taking a trip to the magical city of Prague! I've been itching to get to Prague for ages, dreaming of cobbled streets, historic castles, and of course, beautiful ballet performances. I mean, Prague is practically synonymous with ballet history, don't you think?
This week's blog post is all about the dreamy ballet adventures I've had here. Just imagine: cobbled streets bathed in the golden glow of sunset, a delicious Bohemian pastry in hand, and the magical melody of a Stravinsky symphony echoing from the stage. This trip, darling, is everything I ever hoped it would be!
The Pink Tutu Travel Chronicles: A Whimsical Train Journey to Prague
Let’s be honest, you can’t properly start a travel blog without mentioning the journey, can we? It was a delight! This time, I travelled from Derbyshire, my home county, to Prague by train - which of course, means a pink tutu-clad outfit to set off on my adventures. My outfit? A blush pink tulle tutu, a tailored cream cardigan (for the air-conditioning!), and a delicate lace top peeking through the tulle. My travelling shoes, of course, were comfy but chic Mary Jane flats with a sweet floral detail.
A big part of my train journey involved soaking in the countryside. Lush green fields dotted with villages gave way to quaint European towns as we progressed towards Prague. The sun dipping behind the hills painted the clouds in streaks of orange and pink, just like the hue of my outfit! It's so easy to lose yourself in the landscape while watching the world whizz past, wouldn't you agree?
Arrival in Prague: Charm, Cobblestone and a Hint of Magic
Arriving at the station was a moment of sheer delight. Prague is like a fairy tale, isn’t it? We took a little stroll around the charming old town square before heading to the ballet studio, all bathed in the magical glow of the golden hour.
Prague has so many beautiful buildings - that incredible Prague Castle overlooking the city, the astronomical clock… It really does feel like stepping back in time! I’ve been spending my mornings getting lost in the enchanting backstreets, popping into vintage shops and admiring the unique architecture. And then, I make my way to my favourite cafe for some delectable apple strudel and a warm cup of chamomile tea.
Pink Tutu Prague: A Night at the Ballet
Oh, the magic of the ballet, darlings! The highlight of this trip was definitely a breathtaking ballet performance. This was no ordinary show; it was a production of ‘La Bayadère’, set to Tchaikovsky’s ethereal music and boasting intricate choreography.
It took place in the National Theatre, which is simply magnificent! It's an iconic building with stunning neo-renaissance architecture and beautifully decorated interior. I, of course, donned my prettiest pink tutu for the occasion – a shimmering number with delicate sequins that matched the lights of the city.
The ballet was everything I dreamt it would be – a vibrant display of colour, expressive movement, and captivating emotion. Every move felt effortless and fluid, each pirouette graceful and poised, a real feast for the eyes and soul. My favourite part had to be the 'Kingdom of the Shades' sequence – with all the dancers in pristine white tutus, the whole stage transforming into a breathtaking tableau of light and grace.
But you know, it's not just about the main show, is it? A huge part of my ballet love is finding all the hidden ballet treasures within the city – the grand cafes and charming little boutiques with ballet themed art, and of course, the ballet schools with their dedicated young dancers.
Tutus and Tea in the Old Town Square
After a full day of ballet, nothing is better than a delicious tea in the heart of Prague’s old town. Of course, my choice was a pink floral-patterned cafe with a sunny terrace and wicker chairs – absolutely perfect for observing the vibrant atmosphere. While I sipped my tea, I indulged in some delightful people-watching, taking in the colours and life of Prague’s buzzing streets.
But of course, what is Prague without its delicious pastries? It would be an absolute crime not to share the secret to the most scrumptious apple strudel. My favourite place is tucked away on a side street - don’t tell everyone, it’s our little secret! This little cafe has been a family-run bakery for generations, and they have this incredibly fluffy pastry with a crisp, golden crust. It's truly an unforgettable experience – especially with a cup of sweet tea on a sunny afternoon.
Tutu Fashion in the Heart of Prague
And let’s talk fashion, darlings. My favourite activity in Prague is wandering through the city's charming boutiques. From vintage clothes shops to stylish department stores, Prague’s fashion scene offers a truly eclectic mix. Of course, I can't resist a beautiful tutu shop in the centre of town – imagine the prettiest, fluffiest tutus in every colour imaginable, including a vast selection of pink, of course! It's simply heavenly! I spent ages browsing and ended up finding the most exquisite blush pink tutu for my next big ballet adventure, which I couldn't wait to show off back home!
Oh, and talking of tutus, a sweet local shop has just opened with the cutest pink tutu hats – these would look so darling on a rainy day, or just to add a touch of whimsy to your outfit. I might just have to grab one!
Finding Inspiration: The Ballet Streets of Prague
But darling, there's more than ballet in Prague. There's a hidden, wonderful dance culture that has totally captured my heart! I even found a hidden alleyway just off the main street which is lined with murals dedicated to different dance forms. A magical display of colourful ballerinas, dancers from traditional Czech folklore and hip-hop performers! You just can't imagine the vibrant, joyful feel of it all. And of course, I was lucky enough to capture it on my pink vintage camera – perfect for remembering my ballet adventures in Prague.
From the Pink Tutu Archives: A Piece of Ballet History
As we all know, Prague has a rich ballet history. While exploring, I discovered a fascinating museum with beautiful exhibitions about ballet's development, filled with historic tutus, paintings and even some wonderful stories of famous ballet dancers throughout the centuries. I’m sure there were a few tutus I would’ve looked amazing in – just imagine me dancing a ballet from the 19th century. What a vision!
The Pink Tutu Wish List: Spreading the Pink Tutu Joy
There are so many things that make Prague feel like home – the friendly locals, the cosy cafes, the enchanting history...but nothing makes my heart sing like the ballet.
There's a new dance school in town – it's housed in a historic building and the ballet studios have beautiful, large windows. Imagine! I was inspired to take a class and have just booked a place to learn the ‘Black Swan’ pas de deux. It’s going to be my new challenge – but what's a life without a challenge, darling?
If there’s one thing I wish to leave with you all, my lovely readers, it’s this: be inspired! Try something new, like a new dance move, a new recipe, a new piece of clothing... the possibilities are endless, darling!
Until next week, my darlings!
