Prague: A Tutu-ful Tale (Post #788)

Hello my darling tutus!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of my Prague adventures. You'll have to forgive me if this blog post is slightly longer than usual, because this week has been so full of glorious, pink-hued fun, I just had to tell you every detail!

Remember when I said I'd be getting my fix of beautiful ballet here in Prague? Well, this week saw me waltz right into the magical world of the National Theatre, a dazzling landmark right on the Vltava River. I simply had to don my favourite tutu, the one with the delicate floral embroidery, because there was just no other way to experience such exquisite ballet history!

Now, I've already told you that I adore everything about ballet, from the grace of the dancers to the opulent costumes and, of course, the history of the art form itself. But Prague? It's a ballet enthusiast's dream! And you know me, I just have to immerse myself completely.

This time, I took a ballet class right on the Charles Bridge, you know, the iconic bridge that spans the Vltava. Can you imagine? Me, in my blush-pink tutu, doing pirouettes overlooking the most stunning views? Sigh It was just perfect! I even met some lovely local dancers who invited me to a performance later that evening, an intimate ballet recital held in a hidden courtyard.

I knew this was going to be a fantastic trip, but it's even better than I imagined. From the cobbled streets of the Old Town Square to the fairy-tale beauty of Prague Castle, everywhere I look there's a new and inspiring photo opportunity. You wouldn't believe the Instagram-worthy sights I've captured! I'm thinking a "Pink Tutu Prague" gallery might be in order!

Speaking of photography, I absolutely have to tell you about my favourite find this week - a tiny boutique nestled away in a back alley filled with beautiful, delicate hand-painted silk tutus. Oh my goodness, darling tutus, you just have to see them! They're like little works of art, just begging to be twirled in!

I've been on a shopping spree, of course, because what's a trip to a magical city like Prague without treating yourself to a little bit of fashion? I just couldn't resist a vintage hat with an elaborate pink feather plume and, whispering, a pair of crystal ballet shoes that were just calling to me. You can't tell anyone, but I might have done a little pirouette in the shop…

Now, onto the big event of the week - The ballet show at the National Theatre!

This show, "Giselle", was a perfect mix of romance, tragedy, and ethereal grace. As soon as the music started, I was transported to a world of dreams. The dancers were magnificent, the costumes were exquisite, and the sheer drama of it all left me utterly speechless! You can imagine me in my plush velvet opera gloves, just absorbing every single nuance of the performance. I even caught myself holding my breath as the delicate choreography unfolded on stage.

Speaking of delicate, I simply had to indulge in a cup of the most divine rose-infused tea, served in an adorable porcelain cup with tiny pink flowers painted on it, at the Tea Room. I swear, darling tutus, it's the sweetest, most enchanting tea room you can imagine! I highly recommend it to any pink-loving, tutu-wearing traveler.

The Best Things about Prague:

  • The atmosphere. It's simply magical! Walking down cobbled streets lined with ancient buildings, admiring the artistry of the bridges, it's all just incredibly romantic.
  • The people. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, with the warmest smiles and a twinkle in their eyes. I just can't help but feel that Prague is a city of dreamers, just like me.
  • The fashion scene! The mix of history and modern influences, combined with the local craftsmanship, means that I've found so many beautiful and unique pieces to add to my collection.

As always, I’ve also been soaking up the rich history of Prague, strolling through the impressive Prague Castle, and even taking a lovely boat ride on the Vltava River. The scenery was truly stunning.

However, a journey like this isn't complete without experiencing a traditional Czech dish. And this week, I sampled the most incredible trdelník ever - that's a traditional Czech pastry that looks like a delicious twisted chimney, you can actually find them on nearly every corner in the city! I can't tell you what exactly they're made with (a little secret!), but I can tell you that they are soooo delicious, you must have one (or four!).

What's Coming Up

As the saying goes, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it." You guessed it, I’m looking into a little side trip for the weekend – you'll just have to wait and see!
