Prague in Pink: Ballet Bliss & Bohemian Beauty - Post #790

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Darling readers! Greetings from Prague! As you know, I adore ballet, tutus, and travelling, and combining all three in this beautiful city has been a truly magical experience. I arrived in Prague last week after a whirlwind of performances in the UK and a rather lovely train journey. The sound of the tracks is strangely calming, you know? I often get lost in daydreams on long journeys – I’m quite the dreamer, I am – and picturing myself twirling on stage under the glittering chandelier of Prague’s grand Opera House keeps me happily distracted.

I must confess, the charming city centre of Prague stole my breath away from the moment I stepped off the train. The cobblestone streets, the charming little cafes brimming with life, the baroque architecture – it’s just like stepping into a fairytale! I am, after all, a huge fan of romantic novels (just like every good ballerina, darling!). My imagination was already running wild with visions of bohemian poets, noble princes, and, of course, glorious tutus twirling through the city squares!

Shopping Spree with a Twirl

My first stop was, of course, a quick little peek into the world of fashion! Prague has the most exquisite vintage shops, filled with stunning treasures. The shop owner, a lovely lady called Hana, recognised my penchant for pink tutus and even presented me with a dainty pink fascinator for my journey. You can never have too much pink! Now, don’t worry, I’ll have a post on my Prague shopping spree later in the week, so stay tuned.

A Dance with History

Speaking of twirling, Prague boasts some incredible dance history. My favourite ballet school here is the "Taneční Konzervatoř", founded in 1928, and still training young dancers today! Imagine the tutus that have graced those halls over the years! It’s an amazing thing, and a perfect excuse to whip out my trusty pink tutu! Yes, darling readers, I never travel without it! One can never be too prepared for a spontaneous performance. Just yesterday, I bumped into a group of street performers playing lovely melodies on their instruments, and the temptation was just too much! After all, what’s life without a little impromptu dance in the city squares?

Pink & Proud at the Opera

Tonight, the real highlight of my Prague adventure! It’s time for the National Theatre. Oh, I simply adore a good opera! But not just any opera! We’re going to watch "Carmen," and in pink, of course! This show always transports me, I’m filled with so many emotions - from love to sorrow and excitement to passion! A perfect story to be told with expressive dance and the vibrant energy of the beautiful costumes. This, darlings, is where tutus were meant to be! And I’m wearing mine with pride. It’s a statement, you see, a call for every woman to embrace their own inner ballerina!

Pony Ride for a Perfect Ending

After the performance, we’ll be ending our night with a stroll through the charming Petrin Hill, followed by a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the illuminated streets. Honestly, this trip is already fulfilling my girly-girl fantasies! The sound of hooves clopping on the cobblestones will be the perfect end to this delightful day. The romantic air will make it truly feel like a storybook dream come true!

But this, dear readers, is just the beginning of my adventures in Prague! Stay tuned for more exciting discoveries, fabulous outfits, and a few more pink tutus making a statement, because Prague is a city made for dreams and, dare I say, tutus. Don't forget to join me for another whirlwind journey next week! I can't wait to share my next Prague discovery with you!

With twirling love, Emma

Let's Dive Deeper into Prague, My Dear Readers:

Prague, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is a gem of a city in the heart of Central Europe. Known for its historic charm, Prague boasts a colourful tapestry of cultures and architectural wonders that have stood the test of time. From the majestic Prague Castle overlooking the city to the winding alleyways of the Old Town Square, there's an endless supply of picturesque landscapes and inspiring architecture.

Here are some key highlights of what Prague offers for a tutu-loving ballerina:

A History of Elegance

For a ballerina, Prague has a rich dance heritage. Its connection to ballet dates back centuries. The city's Royal Court ballet company, for example, played a pivotal role in shaping dance history, influencing the world's choreography. This history resonates within Prague's architecture, as well, like the impressive National Theatre.

Tutus on the Cobblestones

I find the street performances here particularly charming, they have such a whimsical atmosphere. As I twirl around the cobblestone streets of the city, it truly feels like a ballet in itself!

Where Shopping Meets Elegance

I have a secret to tell you, dear readers: I have a weakness for unique boutiques and vintage shops! And Prague's charm is truly heightened by the quirky shops and the elegant fashion that awaits around every corner. Don't worry, my fashion post is on the way, I’ll share my discoveries in more detail!

And Let's Talk Fashion:

Prague's fashion is unique! There's a timeless sophistication that echoes its rich history, blended with a contemporary bohemian spirit. Think lace, flowing skirts, and beautiful textiles that drape like a ballerina's dress! I feel completely at home here, and the shops I’ve already visited are overflowing with vintage delights! Just wait till you see the collection of vintage tutus I discovered!

Food, Glorious Food!

There's always a reason to celebrate in Prague, so be prepared to indulge in some delightful local dishes! It's almost a performance itself! You simply can’t resist trying a delicious goulash in a bustling cafe while enjoying a glass of local Czech wine.

And I'll share all my favourite spots for afternoon tea and delightful cakes with you later this week! The sweetness is something every ballerina needs!

The Language of Art:

Prague speaks the language of art, you see! Not just the vibrant street performances or the beautifully staged ballets, but the artistic soul of the city, from its stained glass windows to its stunning street art. It feels like every corner is an inspiring stage!

So, darling readers, come along with me as I explore this enchanting city! Join me for more tales from Prague. From ballet to fashion to history and delightful discoveries, Prague is brimming with joy, charm, and romance. I'm excited to share it all with you, step by step, tutus included!
