Prague: Where Dreams Waltz and Tutus Twirl (Blog Post #791)

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, and this week I’m waltzing my way into Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! Oh, the romance of it all, the cobblestone streets, the echoing cathedrals, the storybook charm! Prague’s whispering secrets make me want to pirouette with delight!

This week on Pink-Tutu.com, we’re hopping aboard the Eurostar (yes, my tutu fits snugly on the train) to embrace the elegance of Prague, and I’ve got a truly delightful agenda planned, filled with tutus, twirls, and a touch of Prague’s captivating history!

But before I divulge my itinerary, let's talk fashion, darlings!

I have a confession: I'm obsessed with the colours pink and white! There's a whimsical innocence about them, don’t you think? It’s almost as if they’re whispers of fairies and waltzing ballerinas! That's why I chose a delightful combination of these colours for my outfit this week! Imagine a ballet-inspired white blouse with billowing sleeves, topped with a luxurious cashmere pink cardigan, and adorned with my favourite - a crisp white ballet tutu. Oh, and don't forget the perfectly paired white ballerina shoes and a dainty pink flower nestled in my hair! You just can't go wrong with a touch of femininity.

From Derbyshire to Prague: A Tutus-ful Journey

You see, darlings, I'm quite a creature of habit, you know. Every Wednesday, you’ll find me sharing a piece of my world on Pink-Tutu.com. A bit of ballet, a dash of fashion, and a sprinkle of my whimsical travel adventures - always, of course, with a splash of pink!

It’s a little known fact (although not for my close friends, you’ll have to forgive my gossip!), I fund my passion for all things pretty by performing ballet! From graceful Swan Lake interpretations to playful variations in Cinderella, my pirouettes have funded many an elegant escapade!

And this week, Prague’s symphony of elegance called to me like the melody of a Stravinsky concerto. A charming, captivating waltz!

The Tutus of Prague: A Glimpse into History

Did you know, Prague is practically a ballerina's paradise? It's said the Czech Republic’s love for ballet originated in the 18th century! Imagine the elaborate ballrooms, the sparkling chandeliers, the whispered conversations between graceful ballerinas and their suitors... such a magical picture!

You might be surprised to learn the tutu actually had humble beginnings as a simple underskirt, known as the "tutu de toile" – the toile being a sturdy material, a forerunner to the more sophisticated, but equally glamorous tulle of today! You could call it the ballerina's transformation from practicality to elegance! It's just fascinating!

Now, Prague's oldest ballet company, the National Theatre, opened its doors in 1881, the same year my great-grandmother first stepped on the stage. She was a dazzling swan! Can you imagine how excited I am to experience such historical grounds!

Prague Ballet's Ballet of Delights

The real highlight of my Prague journey is an upcoming performance at the State Opera on June 23rd - The Sleeping Beauty. Yes! A true classic with costumes designed for a princess! It’s almost a shame to watch such stunning ballet artistry from the audience, but there are some shows that are simply magical to experience on the receiving end of the performance, wouldn't you agree?

And speaking of magic, Prague itself is quite an enchanted city. It’s full of beautiful cathedrals, enchanting alleyways, and even a historic carousel on Old Town Square! The cobblestone streets are almost like a ballerina’s stage - they call for a twirl at every turn!

A Pink-tutu Promenade Through Prague

I have the perfect day planned for a fabulous foray into Prague! We’ll start with a romantic carriage ride! Picture this - a carriage pulled by a handsome chestnut horse, gently swaying down the cobblestone streets of the city’s old town... a perfect scene! After all, even in this age of electric carriages and high-speed trains, who can resist a horse-drawn ride through a city bursting with history?

The next stop? A wander around the historic city square, and a little afternoon tea at the cafe just opposite the carousel. I envision us all sipping dainty teacups in pretty pink pastel shades, munching on little cakes, all whilst whispering gossip about the local history! Then, we will stroll to Prague Castle, stopping for some fairytale-themed pictures in front of the charming Prague Clock Tower. A pink tutu? A pink-hued fairytale backdrop? I can't wait!

And for a taste of local artistry, we will then make a trip to the Art Nouveau Municipal House for some cultural stimulation and breathtaking architecture. With its vibrant decor, beautiful stained glass windows and artistic spaces, the Municipal House truly offers an inspiring feast for the eyes! A touch of ballet inspired architecture in Prague's very heart - perfect for any aspiring dancer or simply someone looking for inspiration and beauty!

Don’t Forget your Tutu: Spreading Pink Joy!

This trip is all about bringing a little Pink Tutu magic to Prague, spreading the joy and the glamour that comes with every little twirl! As I often say, “Life is a dance,” so why not embrace the magic and dance in a vibrant pink tutu every chance you get? It brings happiness, it spreads cheer, it encourages you to be you - just like a dazzling ballerina twirling under the spotlight!

See you all next Wednesday on Pink-Tutu.com, for another whirlwind tour of another enchanting location, all while sharing a splash of pink and a twirl! Until then, darlings, remember – it’s always the perfect time for a little pink magic!
