Prague, Prague, Lovely Prague! - Post 874

Hello my darling pink tutu-lovers!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Prague post! I’m buzzing with excitement because, as you all know, Prague is a city of such magic and beauty - it just sings to my heart! My lovely tutu and I are here for a week, and we’ve already had such a whirl of adventures!

It's January 25th and the snow is falling like confetti, but the atmosphere in the city is electric. Everywhere you look there’s a blend of history and modern, with those amazing, cobbled streets, gorgeous Gothic architecture, and people all decked out in stylish winter wear. The air itself seems to sparkle, a beautiful symphony of lights, snow, and vibrant city life.

This week has been a beautiful mix of theatre, dance, and shopping - of course! – a perfect combination for my love of the dramatic and the fabulous!

Prague’s Dancing Treasures

Last night, we graced the National Theatre with our presence for a performance of Swan Lake. It’s so utterly mesmerising - the emotion, the strength, the artistry. I’m a bit of a ballet history nut (did you know the original Swan Lake wasn't a success? ), but even with a bit of ballet baggage, this performance had me completely spellbound. The costumes were breathtaking, the sets opulent - oh, to twirl on those stages! And the ballet company was absolutely flawless.

After the performance, I snagged a delicious bite at a cozy little cafe near the theatre and marvelled at the beauty of the snow-kissed city lights reflecting on the Vltava River. It was pure magic.

A Fashion Adventure

And oh, the shopping! Prague is an absolute paradise for those of us who love a good browse. My eyes widened with joy as I explored the boutiques and shops nestled within the old city. There were such exquisite vintage shops with exquisite silk scarves and brooches – imagine the dancing outfits you could create! I'm even tempted to use a silk scarf as part of my next tutu ensemble! And then, the Czech crystal shops... you simply can't resist! Imagine a dazzling pink tutu studded with shimmering crystals! Swoon.

Pink Tutu in a Different Kind of Ballet Class

I’ve just finished a ballet class - but not your ordinary studio, oh no! We had our very own fairytale lesson at the very top of the Petřín Lookout Tower. It's a unique location that overlooks the whole city, just breathtakingly beautiful, with the Charles Bridge nestled in the distance.

You could see a tiny figure at the top, which, of course, turned out to be me in a beautiful pink tutu, taking a spin under the winter sky. A real "pink tutu ballet moment," I’m telling you!

We warmed up on the platform, overlooking the incredible views, and had a bit of a ballet workshop led by the amazing Petra, who taught me a couple of new moves. It was such a delight - pure magic! Even a little boy was inspired, wearing his pink ballet shoes!

I had such fun, I nearly got swept off my feet by the wind - I mean literally!

The Art of Movement - Ballet on the Streets

The other day, I stumbled upon this little ballet performance going on in a charming alleyway. It wasn't a big production, just two dancers sharing their love for movement and passion in the middle of the street. It made me realize that ballet can happen anywhere, even amidst the bustle of a city centre! I stopped and just watched for ages. It’s so inspiring, you know? Just seeing their connection to their art.

Later that day, I saw a young woman in the Charles Bridge - she was a total pro - she had her ballet shoes and leotard in a cute bag! - gracefully weaving through the tourists, her expression as focused as any ballerina on a stage. The whole place seemed to hold its breath as she did a perfect pirouette!

So many people seem to be enjoying this simple pleasure – I find it really exciting - maybe there is a tiny ballet ballerina waiting to blossom in every one of us.

From Derby to Prague

Prague is really special - It feels like it’s steeped in romance and history and you feel the echo of the past, you know what I mean? The story of the city seems to follow you through the narrow streets and winding alleyways, especially on the beautiful Charles Bridge.

The way you move through the city in a flowing pink tutu makes you feel so glamorous, so much like a dancer about to perform - it’s magical. I am totally smitten with Prague!

Tutus - Everywhere You Go!

As a tutu devotee, it makes me so happy that the city has such a fun, bohemian feel to it! Every now and then, I see someone wearing a little touch of ballet in their outfits – it could be a swirl of pink in their skirt, a beautiful silk scarf tied around the waist or a stunning brooch - there’s always a bit of romance and fun on the streets!

The Magic of Pink and Travel by Pony and Train

As for me, I always carry my signature pink tutu in my travelling bag, even in the coldest weather. It’s a reminder of my ballet roots, it brings a dash of fun, a reminder of childhood whimsy.

Oh! And speaking of childhood dreams, the other day, I travelled to the heart of the city, through a truly charming countryside, with the cutest little pony in a little red carriage. Now, there’s a fashion moment I won't forget.

And as a big fan of trains, I’ve found some charming journeys on Prague's excellent rail system – I simply adore taking those vintage carriages with little wood-panelled compartments. It’s like taking a step back in time, right?

And it always leads to more fashion fun! It’s not easy trying on tutus while on a moving train, I have to confess - it’s hard not to take up all the space, with my full tutu skirt, but oh, so worth it!

Why Pink? Why Tutus?

A lot of people ask why pink and why tutus? For me, they are a reminder of the joy of being creative and daring to express ourselves through dance and fashion, a way to express my passion for all things elegant and enchanting! The pink is a symbol of joy, of love, and of femininity – it’s about celebrating ourselves as individuals. And the tutu is the ultimate symbol of this playful energy, a powerful piece that evokes images of graceful movement and expressive spirit.

Every time I slip on my tutu, I feel a surge of joy and energy - it’s like magic! And I really hope I’m spreading a bit of that joy by inspiring others to add a bit of magic to their lives.

My ultimate aim? I want to get every single person in the world twirling in a pink tutu! Just imagine - that would be quite a sight! I’ll be blogging every Wednesday about my Prague adventure – why don’t you pop over to www.pink-tutu.com and come and say hello.

Till next time, darlings!
