Prague-ing Out! (Post 895)

Hello my darling tutus!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Prague adventure! Can you believe it's been a whole year since I first touched down in this magical city? A year filled with cobblestone streets, captivating performances, and more tulle than I could possibly have ever dreamed of!

So, how does a ballerina with a penchant for pink conquer Prague? Let me tell you…

It all started with a whirlwind train journey from Derbyshire. The Derbyshire countryside in springtime is utterly breathtaking, with vibrant fields of wildflowers and quaint villages bustling with life. As I boarded the train, I was enveloped in a dreamy atmosphere – the gentle sway of the carriages and the clickety-clack of the tracks serenading me into a blissful daze.

Of course, I made sure my pink tutu was on full display, the perfect companion for my train adventure! And wouldn't you know it, I made the acquaintance of a charming young gentleman in the carriage. His name was Jan and he had eyes as bright and playful as a carousel. He even gave me a hand with my luggage – how delightful! Jan was quite the charmer and I must admit, I found myself enthralled by his tales of Czech history. He even told me that the word "robot" actually originated here!

Our conversation was interrupted by the most delicious aromas – the scent of roasted meats and warm bread drifted through the carriage window. I couldn't resist a quick detour to the cafe cart and I found myself indulging in a mouthwatering pastry - a crispy flakey creation called a koláček.

Speaking of pastries...

My Prague adventure was nothing without the gastronomical delights this city has to offer! Prague is truly a foodie's paradise. The city's cafes and restaurants offer a stunning array of delicious traditional Czech dishes and treats. I especially adore the Trdelník – a sweet doughy delight, covered in sugar and often filled with cinnamon or Nutella! My love of desserts knows no bounds, and Prague has exceeded all expectations in this department!

Speaking of things exceeding expectations... my visit to the Prague National Theatre was nothing short of breathtaking! I saw Swan Lake performed to absolute perfection. The artistry, the emotion, the grace! It truly stole my heart, just as any graceful ballet should! Afterward, I made sure to visit the gorgeous theatre foyer. It was so grand and impressive, filled with dazzling crystal chandeliers, rich red velvet, and exquisite artwork. A ballerina couldn't ask for a more glamorous setting!

But Prague is more than just captivating performances and decadent pastries. Its enchanting old-town streets, vibrant market squares, and captivating historical landmarks are a sight to behold. I couldn’t resist getting lost in the intricate beauty of the Old Town Square, where the mesmerizing Astronomical Clock performs its hourly show, drawing a large crowd of awed onlookers. The colourful houses lining the square made the whole scene feel like something straight out of a fairytale.

A short walk away, I explored the charming Charles Bridge, adorned with its 30 beautiful statues, each telling a unique story. As I strolled along the bridge, the sound of buskers’ melodies filled the air, creating an atmosphere of pure serenity.

Of course, no journey to Prague would be complete without a visit to one of its charming local boutiques!

Shopping is my greatest passion, especially when it comes to finding beautiful new additions for my wardrobe. I found a treasure trove of shops in Prague – stores showcasing traditional Czech handcrafted lace and porcelain, vintage clothing shops bursting with hidden gems, and modern boutiques boasting the latest in contemporary fashion. I indulged in a glorious collection of elegant gloves, exquisite lace headbands, and several vintage velvet dresses – a new ensemble for every ballerina event imaginable!

However, the most spectacular piece I bought? You guessed it - a gorgeous pink tutu! It was crafted from layers of shimmering silk and embellished with sparkling sequins – just my style, darling! And the perfect accessory for a Prague adventure, I might add.

As I continue my exploration of Prague, I am brimming with excitement for the countless discoveries still to be made! I’m even planning a ballet workshop to help all the lovely ladies of Prague embrace their inner ballerinas – you know I love to spread the Tutu love!

If you're ever in this incredible city, remember to grab a trdelník, lose yourself in a beautiful performance at the Prague National Theatre, and always wear pink (especially when it's attached to a delightful tutu!)
