Post 905: Prague, Oh Prague! A Ballerina's Fairy Tale!

Wednesday 29th August 2012

Dearest tutu lovers,

Well, I finally made it to Prague! I couldn't be more thrilled to be here, sipping my coffee on this charming balcony overlooking a cobbled street, my pink tulle tutu practically billowing in the gentle breeze. Yes, my pink tutu even travelled by train, and did I tell you it looks fabulously chic on the carriage?

My journey here was, of course, utterly delightful! The train journey through the beautiful countryside felt like I was in a film, with rolling fields, ancient castles and even a herd of friendly cows. I felt as if I had stepped right out of a Victorian fairytale - well, a fairytale with a touch of modern flair! I wouldn't be caught dead on a train without my vintage, pink suitcase (you know the one with the delicate pearl clasp - you saw it in my 'Travelling in Style' post, right? Oh, do I need to tell you it was all-pink matching my new 'Pink Passion' ballerina flats? (See the photo in this post - they look smashing against the emerald green carriage fabric).

So, what's happening in Prague, darling? Everything!

Let's begin with ballet, my absolute love affair. Of course, I started the day at the local ballet studio, where a little group of lovely dancers - some sporting delightful pink tutus! - greeted me like an old friend. Prague certainly loves pink as much as I do.

We practised some choreography in their adorable studio, nestled in the heart of the Old Town, then it was onto the real excitement: a fantastic performance at the National Theatre! This majestic building is so breathtaking - a real taste of opulence and grandeur, and with so many intricate details it took my breath away. The ballet was The Nutcracker. Oh, how I love a Christmas classic! I was practically bouncing in my seat during the 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' and even managed to take a few sneaky photographs. You'll see them later!

I just love being transported to a world of magical dancing - everything about Prague just adds to the experience! Speaking of magic, you should see the shop I stumbled upon near the Charles Bridge. Rows upon rows of delicate vintage ribbons, twinkling beaded tassels and sparkling crystal beads, all begging me to craft something truly divine.

Of course, what's a trip to a new city without a touch of shopping? Today I braved the crowds of the Old Town Square and, let me tell you, I did not disappoint myself! My pink handbag is overflowing with treasures. A beautiful handcrafted scarf - oh, the colours! (See Instagram later!). Then, a charming shop housed some simply adorable ballerina jewellery, each tiny pair of silver ballet shoes gleaming in its box. A truly irresistible find!

Before indulging in a sumptuous candle-lit dinner, I took a meander down to the river Vltava. Prague is so captivating in the evening, with the golden sunset bathing the buildings in a warm glow. I simply cannot believe how lucky I am to be here. This city is full of whimsy, romance, and such breathtaking architecture. Oh, I must tell you about this fantastic antique shop I discovered โ€“ the collection of ornate picture frames and beautiful, time-worn maps practically called out to me.

Now, dear readers, it's getting late here and tomorrow I've planned to explore the castle district. If youโ€™re anything like me, you know that exploring new cities is all about embracing the magic! I simply cannot wait to see the Prague Castle and delve into the story behind these magnificent walls! Iโ€™ve already made a list of all the sights I must see, and you know I won't miss a single one!

Have a wonderfully dreamy week!

Love,

Emma xoxo
