Prague Dreams: A Tutu-ful Adventure!

Post #915 - Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Bonjour, darling readers!

This week I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Prague. You simply must visit this fairytale of a city! Every corner, every street, even every bridge, is so utterly gorgeous. Imagine, cobbled streets with Baroque architecture and stunning views across the River Vltava - it's like stepping into a painting!

And itā€™s been the most fabulous way to spend a few days before my next big ballet performance in Derbyshire. This little jaunt has re-energised my soul and filled my wardrobe with so many chic delights, but let's not get ahead of ourselvesā€¦

A Pink Tutu Takes Prague!

My arrival in Prague was just as dreamy as the city itself. As my train pulled into the station, I was greeted by a chorus of ā€œahoj!ā€ - Czech for ā€œhelloā€ - and a kaleidoscope of colours. Honestly, this city bursts with personality, much like my wardrobe, only with a lot more history!

You know me, darlings. Wherever I travel, my trusty pink tutu goes too! This time, I've paired it with a divine, silk burgundy coat I found on my way from Derbyshire. Oh, I must tell you about it - imagine an almost-midnight shade of crimson, a silken whisper that brushes my cheekā€¦ and that vintage beret that gives it all that Parisian flair. Trust me, this little number turns heads like nobody's business!

Of course, it wasn't long before I found myself dancing through the city, exploring its hidden corners. The heart of Prague is the Old Town Square, dominated by the magnificent Astronomical Clock. And darling, every single hour, it puts on a spectacular little puppet show for the crowd. It was so enchanting, it made me think of our local Christmas play back in Derbyshire, except this was a lot more extra, darling!

The best bit, though? It wasn't even a part of my itinerary! As I wandered, captivated by the Clock Tower's intricate figures, I spotted a group of little children. Dressed in adorable costumes, they were so eager to put on a little dance show for passersby. So, of course, I had to join in! This sweet little girl, her eyes full of wonder, told me they were getting ready for a Christmas production of The Nutcracker. Imagine my delight, seeing those darling tutus and ballet shoes! It really reminded me why I do what I doā€¦ to spread joy and wonder through the magical world of dance!

Tutu Time & Ballet Adventures

On a side note, do check out Pragueā€™s National Theatre, itā€™s the largest and most beautiful theatre Iā€™ve seen yet. I saw the most exquisite performance of Romeo and Juliet in its dramatic Art Nouveau style ā€“ pure theatre heaven, my dears! You can definitely feel the historical aura there, something magical hangs in the air. Even just walking past, it sent shivers down my spine, a feeling I usually only experience during ballet recitals!

But darling, it wasn't all ballet and shopping. In my spare time, I even managed to visit some of Pragueā€™s most impressive architectural treasures. I wandered through Prague Castle, marvelling at its history, admiring its ornate architecture, all while wearing my favourite emerald-green coat. Imagine the stunning colour combination! My Instagram followers went wild for that picture!

Then there was the Charles Bridgeā€¦ It truly is breathtaking. A long row of beautiful Baroque statues stands sentinel, gazing over the Vltava and across to the breathtaking Prague skyline. I must admit, dear reader, it reminded me a lot of my local Derbyshire bridge back home, except on a much larger scale! We always had to stop and take pictures of it, me in my bright pink tutu, my mum looking ever so proud, and of course, we always had to wear matching shades of pink ā€“ thatā€™s a little Derbyshire tradition, you see.

But itā€™s not all history and scenery! My little journey would be incomplete without a quick mention of the delicious food! The Czechs have a real knack for pastries and delicious cakes, and I'm determined to find the perfect Czech gingerbread to take back home! Letā€™s face it, darling, who wouldn't love a delicious, traditional gingerbread biscuit to nibble on as a little treat whilst practicing their plies! And that brings me to my favourite discovery this week! You can buy everything pink in Prague, from hair clips to sweets, even cake frosting! That little touch of magic makes me feel like this is truly a city designed with tutus in mind. It almost makes me feel as though Iā€™m walking through the most spectacular and elegant dream.

A Farewell Waltzā€¦ for Now

Prague has completely captured my heart. From its charming cafes and shops to its stunning architecture, this city is full of history and enchantment, just like a perfectly choreographed dance routine! This little break has truly revitalized me. There's something about the energy of this place that makes you want to spin, leap, and embrace life with a playful twirl. And honestly, with my love for all things sparkly and pink, Prague just seems like the ideal stage for a pink tutu loving, travelling ballerina!

So, whatā€™s next for the travelling ballerina? Iā€™m back in Derbyshire next week, so of course I have a couple of performances lined up. After all, itā€™s through my passion for ballet that Iā€™m able to fund these fabulous trips around Europe.

Oh, and I'm off to London the weekend after for the Clothes Show Live ā€“ I'm sure thatā€™ll provide me with tons of inspiration! But before I go, darling reader, whatā€™s your dream city? Leave me a comment below and tell me all about it. You know I love hearing your tales! And remember, if you want to experience your own Prague dream, book your ticket now and don't forget to bring a tutu - even better, make it pink!

Until next week, darlings!

Lots of love,

Emma xxx
