Prague, my love, Prague! - Post #939
Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things fabulous, pink, and twirly!
Today, I'm whisking you away with me to the magical city of Prague. Remember that darling lilac tulle tutu I bought in Vienna last month? It felt meant to twirl through the cobbled streets of Prague, didn't it? And what's more, my good friend Millie was free to join me! Can you believe it? A double helping of tulle and fun!
As always, we flew in on Wednesday, and my love affair with this enchanting city began, of course, with a walk through the bustling Old Town Square. I had my eye on a gorgeous vintage jewellery shop I'd spotted on a previous visit - "Czech Pearls" - and Millie and I went in search of it after we'd sampled a few local specialties. Now, I’m a big fan of street food and, while I’m always a little hesitant about trying anything that doesn't come from my dear Mummy’s kitchen, the Czech delicacy of trdelník, (it’s a sweet pastry, kind of like a donut, but even more fabulous) absolutely charmed me! It was like a little piece of Prague sunshine.
Once I'd found the prettiest pink floral dress in the whole of Prague (I simply had to try it on, darlings), it was time to check into the hotel and get ready for a performance of Swan Lake at the National Theatre! Now, as most of you know, ballet is truly my passion, and I adore everything about it, from the costumes (the tutu was born in Prague, did you know?!), the artistry of the choreography, to the beautiful music. Swan Lake is my all-time favourite, and it just felt right to be transported to its birth place to watch it unfold! The dancers were phenomenal - truly world-class.
Now, my darling readers, you simply wouldn’t believe the stunning costumes at the National Theatre! The principal dancer's white tutu was like a feather-light cloud of gossamer - just perfection! I even had the chance to go behind the scenes, and let me tell you, the meticulous detail and craftsmanship put into the costumes was a truly breathtaking experience! My eyes nearly popped right out of my head! It really puts my own little pink tulle twirls into perspective! But hey, let’s be honest, a pink tutu never goes out of style, does it?!
After the ballet, we took a scenic stroll along the Charles Bridge. This place is like something straight out of a fairytale, especially bathed in the glow of the setting sun. Prague at night just has this incredible, romantic atmosphere. It felt very, very fitting to wear the new floral dress with the white lace overlay - oh, and, of course, a delicate pink tulle skirt for extra je ne sais quoi.
Thursday morning dawned bright and beautiful, and Millie and I decided to take a leisurely ride on a horse-drawn carriage through the city. I love how horse-drawn carriages bring you back to a simpler time and, you just can’t beat the enchanting clip-clop of their hooves on the cobblestones! It was so lovely, it felt like I was on a set for a ballet production. And what do you know? The driver stopped right outside this little antique shop with an unbelievable collection of vintage dance shoes! I scooped up the prettiest pink ballet slippers, of course - the ones with the cute little bows!
We took a quick detour to one of the most fascinating museums I’ve ever been to - the Lobkowicz Collections at Prague Castle. The architecture was something out of a dream! Imagine soaring vaulted ceilings, exquisite tapestries, and paintings that just transport you through history. We spent a blissful afternoon in their incredible museum, getting lost in a maze of rooms filled with royal treasures and ancient artefacts. I simply adore the rich history of this place, and its connection to music and art just resonates so deeply with my inner ballerina soul!
But enough about museums, right?! Because who wouldn’t prefer a luxurious afternoon tea at the enchanting Café Louvre? The ambiance was heaven and, of course, the food was exquisite! The perfect way to end a wonderful day, filled with dancing and discovery. I indulged in a slice of the most decadent cherry cake, paired with a delicate, pink cup of rose tea, because, my lovelies, we’re never too sophisticated for a touch of pink. And wouldn’t you agree that the colour just radiates positivity?
After tea, Millie and I took a long, leisurely stroll back to the hotel, soaking in the magical night air. I spotted a street performer, dancing and spinning with grace, his movements like whispers of the wind, and we had to join him for a little dance party, of course! It just goes to show - ballet’s not just confined to stages and theatres! I was on the streets, with Millie in a gorgeous swirling dress, feeling the joy of dancing in my heart, and reminding myself that a pink tutu can make any place, any moment, feel magical!
And as I write this, cuddled up in my hotel room, watching the moon shimmer over the city, I can’t help but think that my trip to Prague was simply a whirl of a fairytale, and it was every bit as magical and captivating as I’d dreamed! A mix of enchanting history, captivating dance, exquisite fashion, and those pink tutu twirls that make every moment feel a little bit extra special.
Now, my lovely readers, if you've got the chance to visit this beautiful city, I urge you to grab it with both hands! You won't be disappointed. And if you go, wear pink, wear a tutu - or both! It’s time to unleash your inner ballerina, and I’ll see you next Wednesday, as we jet off to the next adventure.
Until then, stay sparkly, and don't forget to twirl!
XOXO,
Emma
