Prague Pretty: Ballet, Bohemia & Bows! (Post #989)
Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind week in Prague! I can't tell you how excited I was to get back to my darling pink tutu and unleash its magical powers on the cobblestone streets of this incredible city. You see, Prague has been whispering sweet nothings in my ear for years - stories of enchanting bridges, delicious dumplings, and the echoes of a bygone era where grace and grandeur ruled supreme. This trip was all about blending the ballet with the Bohemian spirit - and trust me, the synergy is pretty darn magical!
Now, I'm sure you're all eager to know the low-down on this week's grand adventure! So, gather your teacups, put on your most sparkly slippers, and let's get to it.
Prague, My Darling: The Ballet Ballet-tique!First things first, my dearest tutu and I landed in Prague just in time for a magical performance by the National Theatre Ballet - "Giselle" on the 9th of April. They really do know how to put on a show! It was pure magic - every graceful turn, every soaring leap, every whisper of emotion. Giselle’s heartbreak and passion resonated in every corner of the theatre, even echoing across the magical Vltava River!
This is where I must confess, my darlings. My heart was stealing a few beats for the "Dance of the Wilis" – a haunting, otherworldly ensemble where the tutus (in their traditional white form) flowed like ribbons of sorrow and hope. I even spotted a gorgeous new tutus worn by the soloist - so much inspiration for my own ballet designs!
Now, the performance wasn't just about the choreography, oh no! It was about the grandeur, the beauty, and the story. The costumes, my darlings, were something else! And Prague itself, it played its part too, you know? Like a perfectly set stage. Imagine, tutus twirling beneath a sky so star-studded, with spires of gold reaching for the heavens. It was, dare I say, a perfect pairing for the ballet ballet-tique!
Ballet Bargains and Bohemian FindsOf course, no trip to Prague is complete without a visit to its captivating boutiques and vintage shops, all of them filled with a kind of artistic bohemian magic! You'd think it was the dressing room of a bygone era - lace, silks, velvets, and hats that could rival the grandeur of a duchess's boudoir! But don’t you worry - I found plenty of treasures that won’t leave my budget with a bleeding heart!
First stop - I landed in a wonderland of pink delight at a charming little shop tucked away in a hidden alleyway. It had, prepare yourselves, my darlings - pink tutus in all shades! Baby pink, bubblegum pink, even flamingo pink. Now I just need a reason to wear all of them. sigh
From Prague to Paris – By Pony!My dear, how do I explain the delight of a pony ride through Prague! A long, winding, magical journey that whisked me through the cobbled streets and tucked me amongst the treasures of Prague. You see, my lovely tutu is very strong - a truly supportive ballet friend. We galloped with the wind, and danced with the leaves. It was a symphony of the city, all its hidden corners whispered secrets to me, the sound of our hooves a delightful percussion against the cobbled lanes.
Honestly, riding through the streets, you really feel a connection to the city’s heart, especially when you can pause for a bit and let your legs rest while listening to a captivating opera sung from the window of a palace - just a lovely way to stretch and appreciate all the magic of Prague.
### Prague Past & Present
If Prague was a stage, it's history would be the backdrop - the grandest backdrop in the world. It's a stage that’s played host to emperors, revolutionaries, and yes, even a ballerina or two. I stood mesmerised by the sheer scale of Prague Castle, its history lingering in the very air, every stone whispered tales of monarchs and wars. It reminded me that ballet too, my dear lovelies, has a history! A history filled with queens and emperors, princesses and artists, and ballerinas who have set their dreams dancing on stages across the ages.
From the Charles Bridge to the Old Town Square, the beauty of this city was truly inspiring, I kept seeing tutus everywhere - twirling in my imagination in those lovely Baroque gardens, gracefully prancing through the ancient squares.
Pink-Tutu's Prague DiariesNow, you might wonder, what does a pink tutu have to do with all of this? It's all connected, my darlings! You see, I truly believe the beauty of a tutu can lift your spirits, bring you joy, and create moments of sheer delight! The essence of ballet is within every element, every historical corner.
I find beauty everywhere I travel, from the majestic halls of the opera house to the whispers of Prague's cobblestone alleys. My heart is overflowing with all the wonder of Prague. Now it's your turn - are you ready to create your own Pink-Tutu fairytale? Come on, what's stopping you?! A tutu is a powerful symbol. Wear one with confidence, my darling - because everyone looks fantastic in pink, you can’t tell me otherwise!
Love and sequins,
Emma
