#PinkTutuPrague Ballet in Prague 2014-04-16

Hello my darling dears! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting adventure in the wonderful world of pink tutus! Today, I'm whisking you off to the charming, cobbled streets of Prague, a city so breathtakingly beautiful, it could make even the most jaded fashionista gasp in delight!

You may have guessed by now, darling, that my little heart absolutely beats for travel, especially if it involves tutus and a generous sprinkle of ballet magic! Now, before you think I'm getting carried away, let me be completely clear, dear reader - I fund these trips with my performances! I’m a working ballerina, you know! All those swirling pirouettes and delicate leaps translate beautifully into enough cash to afford these fantastical escapades.

Speaking of fantastical escapades, I arrived in Prague via a rather delightful train journey - I absolutely adore travelling by train, all the luxurious comfort and stunning scenery as you whizz through the countryside, not to mention the sheer thrill of travelling at such pace! Of course, no journey of mine is complete without a little flair! Picture a vision of pure pink perfection: me, wearing a blush pink tutu and a dazzling crystal tiara, gazing out of the window at the rolling green hills, and you have the essence of my arrival.

I confess, I've had my eye on Prague for quite some time. Its historical significance is undeniable, a treasure trove of magnificent architecture, grand palaces, and charming bridges. The stories whispered on its cobblestones! My darling readers, it's absolutely thrilling! You can practically feel the whispers of Bohemian royalty and the graceful footsteps of ballet dancers who graced its stages long ago.

Prague, however, has another side - a lively, vibrant pulse beating with street performances, exciting concerts and enough artistic flair to keep even the most discerning pink tutu enthusiast fully entertained! Which is why, on this particular Wednesday (16th April), I have my eyes firmly fixed on two must-do's. First, darling, it's time for ballet! Yes, there's a fantastic show on at the Prague National Theatre, featuring a renowned classical piece, 'The Nutcracker'! Now, I absolutely adore The Nutcracker, what with its iconic score and heartwarming story, and its dazzling costumes and, of course, the iconic tutus! (A little insider secret - did you know that the first tutu design dates back to the mid-1800s, much later than I thought!) I have the perfect dress for the occasion – a shimmering pink tutu with just a hint of glitter.

And for the second half of the day, we're diving deep into the buzzing atmosphere of Old Town Square, darling! You’ve guessed it – the fabulous Street Performer festival! Prague truly is a city alive with artistic energy! Now, you’d think there would be enough ballet shows and performances around, wouldn’t you, but somehow this year there were just the two - that’s the magic of being an international dancer - seeing so many amazing things - but some years, the tours get booked up super early and some cities simply don't have ballet, or not to the standard I enjoy, so there can be days with less performances than others, though thankfully there's plenty of artistic talent to enjoy.

This is the beauty of street performance. The artistry, the skill, the joy. There's nothing more inspiring than seeing performers sharing their gifts with a city! A troupe of street musicians belting out traditional tunes, an agile acrobat gracefully flipping across the cobblestones, an expressive mime enchanting the crowd with his stories, it’s all such incredible skill and joy to watch. Naturally, I will be documenting the experience with a generous sprinkle of Instagram-worthy photos, because how could one resist a picture of an ethereal pink tutu set against the magical backdrop of Prague's streets!

Speaking of pictures, darling, if you find yourself strolling through Prague's streets and catch a glimpse of a stunning ballerina wearing a pink tutu, taking photos of cobblestone lanes, vintage architecture, or simply basking in the city's enchanting charm, don't be shy - come and say hello! You can catch me at my little haven at the “The Pink Tutu” shop – yes, a delightfully decadent, tutu-themed shop selling everything pink, stylish and ballerina related in the heart of Prague.

The Pink Tutu Boutique - darling, it’s simply the cutest thing! All those lovely sparkly things to wear for both ballerinas and wannabes, all the colours from bright to pale. Even the men and boys couldn't resist the call of pink and sparkly! This little corner of Prague truly is my wonderland. All my favourite tutu-inspired fashion items, delicate jewelry, stylish ballerina flats, and even a whimsical selection of princess-worthy hats and headbands! I am determined, darling, to make the pink tutu accessible for all. It's not just about ballet, it’s about confidence, joy, and embracing your unique beauty. Just look at this gorgeous sparkly purple and silver number I discovered in a vintage store this morning! I've even managed to snaffle a few pink polka-dot dresses for the children I work with back in my studio in Derbyshire - they're always happy to borrow anything pink! And of course, it’s my job to give them all my inspiration! My goal in life, dear readers, is to have the whole world wearing pink tutus - every day! You know, one sparkly tutu at a time!

Until then, I shall continue my tutu adventures! You know I’ll be filling you in on everything from historical explorations, hidden gems, and delightful little tea shops, to my very favourite fashion finds and, naturally, my ballet experiences - all with a good dose of pink, sparkles, and laughter! This is the life! There's no place I'd rather be than exploring the world in a pink tutu!
