Prague, My Love: Tutu-ing Around The City of A Thousand Spires (Post #1044)

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu blog post, straight from the heart of Prague! I’m absolutely buzzing, you guys! You’ve no idea how much I’ve been looking forward to visiting this city – it’s been a dream of mine for years!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "Prague? That's not exactly a pink city!" And you’re absolutely right, darling. It's not like Paris or London, with their pink-tinted buildings and candy floss-coloured cocktails. But there’s just something about Prague that draws me in – the cobblestone streets, the ancient buildings, the dreamy river running through it all. And let’s face it, a bit of old-world charm makes every pink tutu just that much more fabulous, right?

A Train Ride Fit for a Ballerina

As always, I opted for the most romantic way to travel: by train! From the rolling green hills of Derbyshire, where I hail from, all the way to the heart of Europe. A big part of the joy is getting ready. Imagine my perfect travel ensemble – a pink tutu, of course, but not just any old one. This is a new one from a vintage shop in London, made from swathes of the most delicate blush pink tulle – perfect for swishing and twirling! It wouldn't be complete without a pearl-trimmed top, a rose-tinted shawl (you know I can never leave home without my shawls!), and a pair of elegant flats – for a ballerina, comfort and style go hand in hand.

A Pink Tutu In Prague

As I stepped out of the station, the energy of Prague just sucked me in. The air buzzed with life - the clinking of tram bells, the sound of laughter bouncing off the old walls, the sweet smell of local pastries. It was like a fairytale come to life! You'll see a whole lot more of the sights in later posts, of course – I’m determined to see it all, from Prague Castle to the Charles Bridge!

Dance Your Way Through The Week

But let's get back to the main event, the reason why you all come along with me on these trips - ballet! It was simply not an option to visit Prague without immersing myself in its rich cultural heritage. The ballet world in this city is something else! The history, the performances, it's breathtaking. Today, I went to see a production of "Giselle" at the beautiful National Theatre. You know how much I love ballet stories and, honestly, this one just left me speechless. Every detail was just... perfection.

Ballet In Every Step

But let's be honest, it's not just the performances, it's the feeling, the way it washes over you. The feeling of grace, the artistry, the pure joy. Even a trip to the supermarket is a ballet performance in its own way – think of it as "ballet shopping"! Just a little light twirl at the dairy aisle, and a grand jete across the fruit and veg section, no?

And that’s what I love about ballet, really - the beauty is in everything, if you just look for it. In a twirling leaf, a gentle breeze, a sunset across a cobblestone street… It’s in the way we move, how we treat others, even how we hold our heads up high. I can see it in the way the people of Prague carry themselves - the way they admire their beautiful city with that extra special kind of love, the way they hold their coffees with such elegance, even the way they say 'dobrý den!' with a flourish of their hand. It’s truly magic!

Shop Til You Drop - Tutu Style!

Of course, no trip to a European city would be complete without some serious retail therapy! Now, don’t think this is all about chasing those trendy brands, darling. You know I love discovering hidden gems - independent boutiques tucked away on cobbled lanes, antique stores bursting with treasure, and oh my, a beautiful vintage store that has me seriously considering a second tutu! (After all, a girl can never have too many, right? 😉 )

But for now, it’s time for me to slip into another tutu for a fun night out. I’ve heard Prague is just as magical after dark - imagine twinkling fairy lights on the Charles Bridge and live music in a cafe with a glass of local wine... a picture perfect end to a dreamy day.

As for me, well, I'm going to get lost in this city’s energy, twirling through its heart and soul! If you’re reading this, darling, maybe it's time you do the same, too! Find that inner sparkle, embrace the beauty around you, and go explore - who knows what magical adventure you’ll find! Until next Wednesday, darlings!

Keep twirling!

Love,

Emma xx
