Pink Tutu Prague - A Ballerina's Dream! (Post #1060)
Hello lovelies!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh installment of the Pink Tutu Travels! This week, I'm bringing you the enchanting city of Prague, a place that's captured my heart with its fairytale charm and captivating history.
Now, before we delve into all the stunning sights and cultural wonders, I have to confess – I arrived in Prague, tutu in tow, and my heart was doing a little pirouette of excitement. A brand new city, filled with hidden alleyways, ancient bridges, and stunning architecture? You bet I was ready for some exploring, ballet style, of course.
But first, a bit about my journey to this magical city.
As you all know, I adore train travel. The gentle rhythmic click-clacking of the wheels is practically my lullaby, and I love the ever-changing scenery whizzing past my window. It’s the perfect opportunity to sketch my travel musings or simply stare out into the world and dream.
Speaking of dreams, this trip to Prague was born out of a performance opportunity. That’s right! I got to grace the stage at a gorgeous little theatre tucked away in a corner of the city, swirling through a delightful, whimsical ballet about a little pink tutu travelling the world. The performance was an absolute smash! The audience seemed to adore every twirl and arabesque, and I swear I could hear their little "oohs" and "aahs" even above the gentle hum of the Prague street music.
Following the performance, I indulged in the most exquisite, delicate afternoon tea at a charming cafe with dainty tables and impossibly beautiful china cups. Tea, pastries, and sunshine streaming through the windows - it was like a scene straight out of a vintage ballet postcard. I felt like I was living in a fairytale, and I swear my tutu was twirling a little on its own with sheer happiness.
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without exploring its breathtaking beauty. From the imposing Charles Bridge, draped with fairytale statues, to the Old Town Square with its iconic astronomical clock that seems to have come straight from the pages of a fairy tale, Prague truly has it all.
One thing I quickly learned about Prague is that its beauty isn't limited to just its landmarks. Everywhere you look, you’re met with cobbled streets, quirky shops brimming with artisanal crafts, and hidden gardens bursting with colourful blooms. Each alleyway is like stepping into a new scene from a charming ballet, and every corner has something to make your heart sing with delight.
I, of course, embraced the opportunity to explore the world of fashion here in Prague! The city seems to be filled with vintage boutiques, offering unique clothing from a variety of eras. And you can bet I swirled through them all! I discovered a vintage pink cashmere cardigan, perfectly suited for an evening stroll by the Vltava river. I also found an absolutely magnificent silk scarf, which I intend to use as a stylish hair accessory, perhaps even incorporating it into my next tutu routine!
And speaking of routines, Prague's rich ballet history has also captured my attention! The city boasts some impressive ballet companies, including the renowned National Theatre Ballet, which recently hosted a beautiful performance of "The Nutcracker." Sadly, I wasn't able to catch that performance as I was prepping for my own. But fret not, my dears! I made it a mission to learn more about the city’s dance heritage and even ventured into a little studio where a local dance group is based. Imagine my joy upon discovering they’d embraced the power of pink! They even had their own bespoke tutus with intricate embroidery!
Of course, no Prague exploration is complete without mentioning its enchanting castles! Just a short hop from the city centre, nestled on a hilltop overlooking the Vltava River, lies the glorious Prague Castle, a truly grand and imposing fortress that makes you feel like a royal ballerina poised for a dramatic grand jeté. I spent an afternoon wandering through its many halls and gardens, marveling at its history, architectural splendour, and of course, indulging in a delicious pastry while watching the local musicians.
Speaking of musicians, Prague truly boasts a vibrant and enchanting street performance scene. Every corner of the city seemed to be filled with the melodies of talented buskers, enchanting voices, and musicians playing hauntingly beautiful tunes. One even had his own adorable furry friend, a little brown pony. It's moments like this that remind you just how much beauty can be found in unexpected places.
In the evenings, I discovered a local tradition that had my inner ballerina spinning! Every day at 8 p.m., the astronomical clock in the Old Town Square chimes, revealing a colourful procession of figures. This quirky and historical performance left me completely spellbound and feeling as though I'd just stepped out of a whimsical ballet. I must confess, I may have even twirled in front of it with excitement. It felt only fitting!
And of course, what’s a ballet-loving adventurer’s trip to Prague without indulging in its delectable cuisine? From succulent roast meats to mouthwatering dumplings, Czech cuisine truly embraced my senses and left me feeling happy and satisfied. After all, dancing needs its fuel!
Before I wrap up my adventures for this week, a few important tips for any aspiring tutu-wearing travellers! Prague is truly a walkable city. I spent my days hopping from charming cafes to ancient monuments, and you can bet my trusty pink tutu never held me back! In fact, the cobblestones seemed to encourage a few extra pirouettes.
I always say, pack light when you travel! Remember, your trusty tutu can be paired with any outfit and easily converts into a stylish and playful dress! I always pack some classic, stylish items that can be worn with ease. It’s all about clever accessorizing! For Prague, my go-to travel accessory was, of course, a pretty vintage satchel. And you can never go wrong with a comfy, supportive pair of ballet flats. You might also consider a small collapsible tutu bag if you find yourself in need of a touch of twirling flair in an impromptu ballet setting.
Oh, and remember, a little touch of pink goes a long way. Whether it’s a playful scarf, a vibrant tote bag, or even a simple nail polish, adding a dash of pink always brings a touch of joy and wonder to any adventure.
My darling friends, I truly believe Prague is a magical city that speaks to every aspiring ballerina’s heart. It’s full of romantic architecture, inspiring art, enchanting performances, and endless opportunities for fun, twirling, and spreading a little pink love.
I hope my adventures inspire you to add Prague to your travel wish list. Remember, there’s no place in the world that doesn't look a little more beautiful with a dash of pink and a bit of twirling. Until next Wednesday, stay fabulous, keep twirling, and always remember to bring a touch of magic wherever you go!
Lots of love and happy pirouettes,
Emma xxx
