Prague, my love! (Blog Post #1079)
Hello darlings!
Itās Wednesday, which means itās time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Prague blog! Iām absolutely buzzing with excitement, because guess what?! I finally made it to Prague! šš
After a charming train journey across Europe (did I tell you about the adorable pony I rode through a Bavarian forest? More on that later!), I landed in the heart of Prague, where the air is buzzing with the charm of a thousand storybook tales. Itās practically bursting with the romance and magic that you see in the movies, and just waiting for a ballet performance!
And that's precisely what Iām here for, my dears. This week, the stunning Pink Flamingo Ballet is in town. Itās the premiere of a new choreography by the genius behind the sensational 'Dance with Dragons', the esteemed ballet choreographer, Mr. Francois Laurent. Naturally, a fabulous pink tutu, a pink flamingo, and I couldnāt possibly miss this premiere!
Prague itself is a fairytale setting, and you could hardly ask for a more perfect place for ballet. Imagine cobbled streets echoing with the music of an orchestra, grand palaces where dancers would leap across magnificent staircasesā¦ The historical ballet heritage in Prague is just phenomenal!
Now, the history of tutus - particularly in this exquisite city - deserves its own blog post, doesnāt it? Perhaps weāll get onto that next week, but today weāre about the sheer delight of arriving in a city full of beauty and artistic vibrance. Itās hard to resist a quick waltz through the cobblestone streets when theyāre flanked by buildings like fairytale castles, eh? Just imagine! The music of Straussā¦ a touch of whimsy in every stepā¦ A whirl of delicate fabric as we skip across the squares, perhaps in a shop-filled arcade, stopping to admire the latest trends! š Itās just so wonderfully European!
It would be rude of me to miss out on the shopping experience here, so this afternoon will see me braving the designer boutiques and charming little shops tucked away in alleyways - on the hunt for something with the "je ne sais quoi" to complete my performance outfit. After all, every ballerina knows a little fashion finesse never hurts, does it?
Later, my darlings, a magnificent spread at the Pinksky CafĆ© - their menu, even their chairs - are all just about as pink as my heart can bear, and as elegant as a ballerinaās carriage. This evening is for a private performance by the ballet company ā theyāre setting up an outdoor stage with the iconic Charles Bridge as the backdrop ā you simply canāt imagine the sheer, breathtaking beauty of this city at night, bathed in a cascade of soft light from the castle, and the river twinkling just below!
I'll be posting photos, of course. I want you all to share the magic with me!
For now, though, I'm off to a ballet class ā the studioās right by the Charles Bridge ā just a quick step from the bustling riverbank, where the swans and geese are preening themselves as theyāre always perfectly styled, and as glamorous as a ballet prima!
Oh, darling! I simply adore Prague - what a delightful adventure it's going to be! I canāt wait to share more of my experiences with you, from the breathtaking architecture and historic ballet theatres to the enchanting street performers who transform Prague's ancient heart into a stage.
Don't forget to tune in next week for another dose of Parisian charm and fashion - and, of course, all the fabulous ballerina moments you could ever hope for!
Until next time, my dear darlings,

Finding Prague's Ballet Heart
This magical city's got me buzzing! Today's been a ballet bonanza, darlings, a feast for the eyes and the soul! Iāve seen history come alive right in front of me - and, Iāll let you in on a secret ā this place practically whispers "ballet!" everywhere you look.
Iām so happy to have landed in the middle of the āPink Flamingo Balletā season, but Pragueās love for the graceful dance has its roots way back in the Renaissance! Back then, it wasn't a common sight for the everyday person. Dance was an exclusive artform, enjoyed by the aristocracy, so of course, we had our graceful tutus to make sure we were the belle of the ball, donāt you think? And thatās how this glorious artform found a home within the walls of Pragueās stunning palaces ā places like the Sternberg Palace, now a prestigious art gallery, and even the ValdÅ”tejn Palace.
Just imagine! The waltz music drifting through the elegant hallsā¦ The grand chandeliers casting shimmering light on our twirling stepsā¦ itās enough to make a girl swoon, isnāt it?
I was lucky enough to have a private tour of the National Theatre. It was built in 1881 in the beautiful neo-Renaissance style - and believe me, itās utterly breathtaking! The auditorium is a symphony of grandeur, bathed in crimson and gold, and, just wait until you see the chandeliers! Honestly, darlings, youāll be positively swooning! The stage was where the most dazzling dance shows of Prague were performed ā ballet, opera, dramaā¦ Itās the stage of dreams for a ballet dancer like me.
They say it's where the spirit of ballet in Prague truly bloomed! It's fascinating how every step, every movement echoes with the history of these wonderful spaces ā how the music still lingers, reminding us of the ballerinas and performers who have danced on those very stages before.
But here's the most enchanting part ā even in the busiest parts of the city, ballet whispers into life around every corner! A street performer in the square, with a flash of graceful movement, capturing the essence of dance in the cobbled space ā the elegance of the gestures, the grace in their form, and even their playful expressionsā¦
You just have to love how these hidden moments of ballet emerge, bringing that magic of the stage into the very streets, into the cafes, right into our daily life.
I have to tell you all about the amazing āStreet Ballerina Competitionā, too! It takes place here in the Old Town Square - in the heart of Pragueās beautiful old city! It's such an incredible spectacle, itās a wonder to watch the performers spin, leap, and twirl right under the eyes of the tourists - there are more crowds there than you could imagine!
There's such joy in seeing these dancers in their dazzling, bright costumes (pink, of course, is the top colour!), making their performances pop! They do the most incredible lifts ā they actually perform right there in the square, under the shadow of the astronomical clock - I'll be adding a link so you can all see the amazing performances in Prague. Itās ballet right where it belongs, bursting with energy and emotion. Itās impossible to miss, right?
Even in a city bustling with life, there are so many special places for a ballerinaās heart, and of course, there are endless possibilities for a dazzling pink tutu. What other colours could possibly do justice to a city that's so romantic, so artistic?
The history here whispers to the ballerina in me. Itās the perfect place to dance, to explore and dream. The streets echo with the waltz of time, a city of beautiful bridges and stunning buildings that could just as easily be a set for the worldās most glamorous ballet performance.
Every moment in Prague seems to be inspired by dance, donāt you think? This enchanting city has a special place in my heart, and I think a little part of it will be dancing right inside mine for a long time. It's a place where a pink tutu belongs - where it could truly dance without any shame.
That's all from Prague, my lovely lot, but stay tuned for more from this whimsical city, from fashion and pink delights to more of Prague's wonderful dance history ā thereās always something amazing around every corner!
Iāll be back next Wednesday with more exciting discoveries - you don't want to miss it!
See you soon!
Emma
