Pink Tutu Prague - Post #1081: A Dance Through History and Shops!
Hello my lovelies, and welcome to Pink Tutu Prague! This week I'm bringing you all the enchanting pink tulle and historic charm that Prague has to offer. It's a city brimming with fairytale beauty, a fact which became readily apparent on my train journey from Dresden to Prague.
Now, I've always loved train journeys, a sort of mobile catwalk if you will, for your tutu of choice. On this particular trip, I opted for my cerise pink, layered, tiered tutu with delicate silk rosebuds - perfect for gliding through the countryside.
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu trip without a touch of magic, so my journey included a gentle, if slightly unconventional, ride aboard a fluffy white pony called Princess. Princess belongs to the delightful owner of a roadside stall who kindly agreed to offer me a scenic spin around her farm, her pony acting as the star of her equine troupe.
But back to Prague, my darlings! Arriving at the stunning Prague Main Station, a historic building straight out of a fairy tale, I immediately felt swept away by the city's unique charm. The cobblestone streets, the colourful buildings, the enchanting scent of roasted chestnuts and warm pretzels - everything about Prague was an explosion of delightful sensory experiences.
Ballet & History, The Perfect Blend
Speaking of enchanting experiences, my week in Prague was jam-packed with ballet adventures. I had the opportunity to see the stunning 'Nutcracker' at the National Theatre, a performance so magical it took my breath away. I particularly loved the playful character of the Sugar Plum Fairy, a role that perfectly encapsulated the joyous spirit of this iconic ballet. The exquisite choreography, the soaring music, the stunning costumes - it was pure ballet magic!
Following my Nutcracker adventure, I found myself wandering through the Old Town Square, admiring the historic Astronomical Clock. It was mesmerising to watch the figures move and the bells ring, and it sparked a deep curiosity about the history of the city. My travels in Prague gave me such a newfound appreciation for its cultural heritage, I've already started learning more about its dance history and am already researching the oldest dance troupes in the area for a future blog post!
Fashion & Finding The Perfect Tutu
Of course, a trip to Prague wouldn't be complete without some retail therapy. I found myself completely lost in the charming labyrinth of boutiques and vintage shops. The city’s vibrant fashion scene is as rich and colourful as the architecture, making it the perfect place to discover those unique pieces that make a Pink Tutu girl stand out. I even managed to unearth the perfect cerise silk flower hair accessory to match my blush pink, tiered, voluminous tutu in the cutest little shop tucked away on a narrow cobbled street. I am going to incorporate the hairpiece in my next performance – It’s simply divine and looks just stunning with my ballet style makeup look.
But let’s talk tutus for a moment! Prague has this fabulous little shop selling vintage fashion – think Parisian glamour and Art Deco elegance - where I found the most wonderful white tutu. A crisp, soft, fluffy tulle, with layers upon layers – and such lovely embroidery on the hemline. It's a perfect choice for adding an ethereal element to your own wardrobe.
And for those of you who love the thrill of finding that rare gem in an old trunk, a vintage shop off the Charles Bridge held a bewitching emerald green tutu – so glamorous – and so perfect for a retro inspired performance – just gorgeous. I can't resist a well-crafted vintage find! I know my readers adore discovering those rare vintage treasures as much as I do – perhaps a futuristic post on “finding the perfect vintage tutu?” - you let me know!
The Heart of Prague - And The Importance of Sharing The Love
Every turn in Prague unveils a breathtaking view, and the heart of the city, the Charles Bridge, truly captivated me. As I crossed the bridge, I imagined myself gliding along the ancient cobblestones, a swirl of pink tulle floating behind me - wouldn't that be a wonderful scene? It’s a perfect location for a balletic photoshoot with one of those magnificent architectural backgrounds! It definitely got me thinking about some future dance moves for a forthcoming show – perhaps I will be incorporating the architectural beauty of this location into a performance. I know that I want to take the Pink Tutu legacy to the global stage! I can just see myself gliding across the stage performing my next routine! Oh my, the dream!
Every experience in Prague has been so captivating, from the mesmerising sights to the delicious flavours and friendly people - It is such a culturally rich and beautiful city. And there’s a very real spirit of enchantment to this place which simply takes your breath away. It is here that my passion for ballet truly felt its full magic - it truly felt like I was dancing through history itself. I love sharing these enchanting experiences with you, and it's my mission to spread the joy of ballet and to make wearing a tutu the ultimate symbol of confidence and empowerment!
Oh, and did I mention that Prague has some fantastic cake shops? I discovered one hidden down a charming side street, filled with delectable pastries and a delightful atmosphere. I ended up buying the most beautiful chocolate tart decorated with swirling pink buttercream flowers! I paired it with a pot of strong, fragrant tea and had an amazing afternoon!
So until next week, my darlings, remember to spread the love of tutus, embrace the beauty of your individuality, and dance your way through life, one pink twirl at a time. I'll leave you with the enchanting spirit of Prague and my absolute favourite quote – a quote which resonates deep within me and my passion for ballet and for the magic that it offers – a quote I found etched on a small plaque in an ancient chapel off the Charles Bridge – the chapel has beautiful stained glass and is well worth a look, it truly captivated me - the quote reads – “To Dance is to Live”! Stay stylish, and stay fabulous!
