Hello, my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another post from your favourite pink-tutu-clad traveller. This week, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague, and let me tell you, it's truly living up to its fairytale reputation.
Travelling by Train (and Pony!)
My journey here was just as delightful as the destination. I always prefer to travel by train when possible - the rhythmic clatter of the wheels against the tracks is just so soothing. This time, I even got to enjoy a scenic ride through the countryside, complete with a gaggle of playful ponies grazing by the tracks. My pink tutu must have caught their eye! They're quite the discerning judges of fashion, these ponies.
Prague's Ballet Scene
Now, onto the main reason for my trip: Prague's ballet scene. The National Theatre is a beautiful building, steeped in history, and its ballet performances are just as exquisite. Last night, I saw a production of "Giselle" that simply blew me away. The dancers were phenomenal, the choreography exquisite, and the costumes… oh, the costumes! They were the kind that make your heart skip a beat, and your own tutu feel slightly inadequate (though no tutu can ever truly be inadequate, my darlings).
Speaking of tutus, you'll be delighted to know I managed to find a tiny vintage shop tucked away in the old town, brimming with the most beautiful antique ballet garments! They're almost too precious to touch, but I couldn't resist purchasing a pair of gorgeous, hand-sewn pink ballet slippers for my collection. Just imagine how delighted my grandmamma would have been to see them. You wouldn't believe some of the stories the owner shared about their history, and the ballerinas who wore them. Talk about history in every stitch!
Prague: A Feast for the Senses
Besides ballet, Prague has a plethora of delights for any fashion-conscious traveller. I've already lost count of the quaint boutiques I've stumbled upon, brimming with beautiful clothing, accessories, and of course, shoes! It's a true paradise for any ballerina's wardrobe, or any fashion-lover really.
The food here is divine, too! Yesterday, I had the most delicious lunch of goulash and dumplings, which is definitely a must-try when you're here. And the pastries? They're an absolute sin, but such delicious ones! (Not that I’m judging - I happily devoured every crumb!)
And don't even get me started on the cobbled streets and stunning architecture! Each turn unveils a new masterpiece – baroque churches with gilded spires, vibrant medieval houses, bridges adorned with charming statues... I feel like I've stepped into a scene from a fairytale.
A Little Slice of Parisian Flair
One of the highlights of my visit has been exploring the “French Quarter”, the elegant residential neighbourhood on the left bank of the Vltava River. It’s filled with cobblestone streets lined by graceful houses, and quaint coffee shops. This neighbourhood reminded me so much of Parisian elegance and sophistication. I almost wished I could borrow one of those lovely, frilly pink dresses in a window display to enjoy an evening stroll. Almost… I'd never be able to resist putting on my own favourite pink tutu instead!
The Power of Pink and Tutu
I know you’re all thinking it: Yes, I do have a few pink tutus with me, as it turns out, Prague is the perfect place to rock one! You’d be amazed at the response it gets! This little tutu really does seem to make people happy!
