Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet & Bubbles! (Post #1115)

Helloooo my darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means a brand new blog post for you all, fresh from the cobbled streets of Prague! And guess what? I'm absolutely buzzing! It's a ballerina's dream come true over here – ballet everywhere you look! It's hard to know where to even start...

But before I launch into all the glorious dance happenings, let's chat about my journey. I, naturally, took the train from Vienna, darling. There's something truly magical about waking up in one country and arriving in another before the day is even half over. This train journey was extra special because it wound through the Austrian countryside, all lush green fields and sleepy villages. I was utterly mesmerized by the scenery and spent the entire ride daydreaming about how lovely it would be to wear my pinkest tulle and dance along the train tracks... just me, a train, and some beautiful scenery!

The train brought me directly into the heart of Prague, which I must say is one of the prettiest cities I've ever seen. It's a whimsical mix of colourful buildings, charming bridges, and of course, the Vltava River flowing majestically through it all. Oh, and the architecture, darling! I felt like I'd been transported back in time. Gothic spires, Baroque facades, and stunning Renaissance courtyards just screamed at me, "Emma, take my picture! You MUST immortalize this!". Honestly, my phone camera must be crying right now, but the photos were simply too beautiful to resist.

Now, after all this rambling, it's time for the real star of the show: ballet!

Today's ballet date is with the National Theatre, which, I must say, is an absolute masterpiece in itself. Built back in 1881, it's a majestic neo-Renaissance palace with an epic stage for some even more epic ballet! They say the National Theatre is a symbol of Czech identity, but frankly, it's a symbol of just about everything wonderful about Europe – the history, the culture, and most definitely the art of ballet.

This evening's programme is Don Quixote, which means twirling and leaping are absolutely on the menu! I can't wait for the grand pas de deux. And what's a ballerina's life without some fancy dress-up? Well, for this trip I went all out. This pink tutu is definitely my most glamorous one yet – adorned with intricate details that shimmer and sparkle in the candlelight. I even have my own custom-made pink-feather boa to accentuate the drama!

Don't worry, I wouldn't leave you all hanging without a little sneak peek into the wardrobe. Before the ballet, darling, a girl must prepare! The first stop was Prague's incredible "Old Town", a fairytale land filled with shops full of bohemian jewellery, antique trinkets, and… vintage ballet costumes! You know me, a pink tutu never hurt anyone, but finding vintage tutus in Prague was like stumbling upon a treasure chest! I had to scoop up a few beauties, of course, even though I did already have at least twenty tutus in my suitcase already…

But, oh, the beauty of ballet costumes! I am a total fangirl for these delicate works of art! Did you know, my darlings, that the first tutus were designed for a dance known as 'the tarantella', an ancient dance believed to cure victims of tarantula bites? Can you imagine that - performing in a flowing, airy garment in a desperate attempt to outrun a poisonous spider!

This is why I love Prague, because every street here has history and story!

Now, my dear readers, I must dash! My evening in the National Theatre awaits, and a pink tutu needs to take its rightful place among the glamorous audience! But before I leave you, promise me that you'll embrace your inner ballerina and do something whimsical today! It could be a twirl in the park, a dance class, or simply wearing a splash of pink!

And remember, if you're looking for your own little dose of ballet inspiration, hop over to my website, www.pink-tutu.com for even more tutu tales, fabulous fashion, and dancing adventures!

Until next Wednesday, my dears!

Emma
