Prague Post #1144: Tutu-ing Around the City of a Hundred Spires!
Hello my lovely tutus, and welcome to another week of adventures! This time I'm bringing you right from the cobblestone streets of Prague, the city of a hundred spires! I can't believe it's been a week since I last touched down here, the time is truly flying by – although, let's be honest, I could probably live here forever and still feel like I was only just getting started!
For those who don't know me, I'm Emma, a twenty-something ballerina from the lovely county of Derbyshire, England, and my absolute passion? Why, you know it! Pink tutus!
My mission, should I choose to accept it? To spread the joy of tutus across the globe, one sparkly, fabulous twirl at a time. And with this trip, Prague was my playground!
Train Travels and Parisian DreamsThis week began in true Emma style, on a magical train journey across Europe. Now, let's be honest, no journey is truly complete without the ultimate train fashion – in my case, a beautiful, light-pink chiffon tutu, layered with a flowing white blouse and delicate pearl necklace. I wouldn't want to step onto a European train without looking utterly Parisian, wouldn't you agree?
And the journey itself was no less breathtaking! The rolling green hills of Germany, the sun glistening off the rivers, even the charming bustle of the train station – I soak it all up like a sponge. I could happily spend my days travelling like this, the wind whipping through my tutu and the excitement building with every passing kilometre.
Ballet Beauty: Stepping Into the Grand Opera HouseUpon arriving in Prague, my first stop? A beautiful ballet performance at the stunning National Theatre. Now, I know what you're thinking – a ballet lover in Prague? That's practically mandatory!
But what really made this evening so special? I finally got to see my all-time favourite ballerina, Nadia Petrova, grace the stage! Imagine a swan, delicate yet powerful, elegant yet graceful, the very embodiment of the swan's character – that was Nadia. It truly was a masterclass, a spectacle of poise and skill that took my breath away!
Afterward, there was no chance I was letting myself skip a delicious meal – a hearty Bohemian feast! Prague's culinary scene is quite remarkable, from rich soups and succulent roasted meats to fresh local produce. I managed to squeeze in a cheeky Czech pastry with whipped cream, a perfect end to a perfect evening!
Prague in Pink: Finding the Perfect Tutus! But let's talk shopping! Because Prague is an absolute dream for a fashion lover. I lost myself in the winding cobbled streets, exploring boutique after boutique, soaking in the charm and craftsmanship of the local artisans.
I wasn't going to leave without a little something special to remind me of my time here, and guess what I found? A magnificent hand-crafted tutu! Not just any tutu, oh no! It was made in the most beautiful, light pink shade, the very colour of blooming cherry blossoms.
It had layers of the softest tulle, and the embellishments were truly extraordinary! They were woven with Czech crystal, each sparkle catching the light like a thousand tiny diamonds. This one is going to make a special appearance at a gala next month, I simply couldn't resist!
But it wouldn't be a trip to Prague without a little more indulgence, would it? I found an incredible little store called "The Tutu Shop". There, I was truly spoilt for choice with all sorts of colours, fabrics, and styles!
This shop was the perfect example of why I'm so drawn to tutus. The artistry, the colour, the sheer fun of twirling around in a beautiful garment! You truly feel like a princess stepping out of a fairytale!
I picked up a little gem of a pale pink tutu, almost invisible in the sunlight, adorned with dainty lavender blossoms. This one will be perfect for my ballet classes back in Derbyshire! And let me tell you, there's no better feeling than rocking up to class in a new pink tutu! It's like putting on your best friend, a friend who understands the sheer joy of twirling!
Old Town Glamour and the Dancing HorsePrague has such a rich history and culture! There are grand squares where history is still felt, grand old churches reaching for the sky, and of course, the most enchanting architecture. I just love soaking up the ambiance and wandering down these narrow streets.
It's almost impossible to avoid falling into the beauty of it all.
I spent the afternoon strolling around the Old Town Square. Imagine cobblestones beneath my ballerina slippers, medieval buildings framing a beautiful fountain. In the center was an astronomical clock with its incredible spectacle of moving figurines, all adding to the fairytale-like atmosphere of the city.
What really captured my attention was the Old Town's carousel, the “Magic Horse Carousel”.
Now, I may be biased, but there’s no feeling like sitting upon a beautiful, painted carousel horse and being carried up and down. As you're spun around in circles, there's this magical, weightless feeling - and there's just something magical about the artistry of each and every hand-carved steed. And let’s not forget the vibrant colours of the carousel – another lovely nod to the pink theme!
For this particular carousel, I spotted the most enchanting pony - it was a white steed adorned with intricate pink roses! I had to sit on it, obviously, and let the carousel twirl me back in time! It felt as if the beautiful city was twirling with me, showing off its charming personality, from its grand buildings to its quirky hidden corners.
Sharing the Pink Tutu MagicI made sure to capture all my Prague adventures with a million photographs. You see, I like to share the joy of ballet, fashion, and tutus with everyone, so it’s only natural to want to share this experience with you! My photos are always full of vibrant colors, elegant shots of myself in my beautiful outfits, and captures of the extraordinary city life around me! I’ll even share a few extra photos from the ballet performance!
For me, a tutu isn't just a piece of clothing - it's a feeling! I believe that the joy of dance can transform anyone into their own special ballerina. Don’t be afraid to wear one! Step outside your comfort zone and let your imagination soar with every twirl!
And you know what? I actually received a little something special back. While shopping in Prague, I bumped into a little girl who looked up at me with wide eyes when she saw my pink tutu. "Are you a real ballerina?" she asked, her voice filled with awe. "Are you going to the ballet?"
I answered with a smile, "I'm just a girl who loves dancing, just like you! But sometimes I like to dress up and let my imagination soar." It was just a brief exchange, but seeing that sparkle of delight in her eyes made my day. That's the beauty of tutus; they're a conversation starter, a chance to connect, to inspire!
Now, tell me, dear readers! What are your favourite things to do on a trip? What inspires you, what gets you excited to dance around the world in a pink tutu?! Share your stories with me! You know where to find me – www.pink-tutu.com. And I'll be back next week, filled with more adventures, more tutus, and more joy!
Until then, keep on twirling!
