Prague: Tutu Travels - A Whirlwind of Pink and Romance! (Post #1167)

Hello my darling tutus! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means - a brand new Pink Tutu Prague post is twirling onto your screen! This week I've been waltzing through the cobbled streets of Prague, a city bursting with beauty and history, and oh darling, I am just smitten!

The moment I arrived at Prague's Central Station (in my most darling blush pink midi dress and my trusty ballet flats, naturally!), the city enveloped me in a charm unlike anything I've ever experienced. I'm already feeling so inspired by the romance in the air! Just imagine – stunning Gothic architecture, ancient castles overlooking the Vltava River, and a lively, energetic heart beating within the cobbled lanes. I’m practically seeing pirouettes around every corner!

This city feels so steeped in artistry and passion. It makes me think about the ballet traditions of Prague - all those years of refined choreography, elegant steps, and of course, tutus! (Can you imagine the tutus they've worn here?!). This whole journey has me completely enthralled by the history of ballet, both on the stage and the streets. I'm finding out that Czech ballet is like a delicate flower - subtle but incredibly graceful, full of personality, and with a deeply romantic soul.

Of course, being in a city like this is the perfect excuse to get into some seriously good ballet practice. Every day I’m hitting up a different class (one on Wednesday was particularly incredible in a charming studio right under a beautiful old archway!). Honestly, my posture’s never been better! All those years of pliés, tendus, and jetés are really starting to pay off - my legs look simply divine in all my frocks and tutu skirts!

Speaking of tutus, did I mention I went shopping? Okay, maybe more like 'tutudling', because how could I not explore the magical shops of Prague? The atmosphere here is perfect for getting your vintage tutu fix. Just imagine - cobblestone streets filled with boutiques, overflowing with gorgeous pastel hues, silk, tulle, and sparkles! I picked up some fabulous vintage tulle pieces and a new, full-length, blush pink tutu - I mean, I’m on vacation, darling, there’s no way I could say no to a little tutu indulgence! I can already see myself twirling across Charles Bridge, or perhaps along the romantic Vltava River – it'll be the perfect fairytale photo shoot. Stay tuned, because I have a feeling these gorgeous garments will be the stars of my next blog post.

And what did I do this evening? Well, I made my way to the magnificent National Theatre to witness the captivating Czech National Ballet performing Swan Lake! Oh darling, it was a masterpiece!

There was a vibrant energy the moment I walked into the theatre. It’s hard to describe the air of anticipation, the buzz, and that special excitement that just explodes before the curtain rises. You can just feel everyone settling into the magic of a great story told through the power of dance.

I've seen Swan Lake before, of course, but this time, I truly appreciated its history. I felt a deep connection to the stories within the dance, the emotions swirling around me, all under that grand old theatre roof, right here in Prague.

The ballerina playing Odette, the white swan, was exquisite – light, graceful, almost magical. Every movement told a story – her pain, her despair, and the unwavering love for the Prince. And don’t even get me started on the tutu! It was pure, ethereal white, a breathtaking contrast to the bold black tutu she wore as the seductive black swan, Odile. Seeing them dance on stage was like watching two different personalities intertwining, leaving me mesmerised! I'm feeling truly inspired!

After the ballet, the enchanting Prague night beckoned us all to walk along the Vltava river. It felt like we were stepping right into a fairy tale, with street performers, gentle music and the soft twinkle of fairy lights. Even the delicious pastries and gelato we sampled after felt like part of the magic.

You see, my darlings, Prague has captivated me – its charm, its rich history, the beautiful people and their traditions, and of course, the ballet! There’s something incredibly special here, a sense of ‘I want to dance and be a part of this, be caught in this fairytale.’ Every moment here is full of a certain charm that lingers even when I’m dreaming.

You know, I love experiencing new places, but what makes these adventures really magical are the wonderful people you meet and the beautiful moments that bring the world together – all under one big, pink and starry sky.

As always, darlings, I’ll be back next week with more enchanting tales from my Pink Tutu Prague travels. Until then, let your twirling bring you joy, let the colours of your heart guide you, and be kind to yourselves, and to everyone.

Remember, wear pink, be a little wild, and keep twirling your way through life!

Love, Emma
