Prague in Pink: A Tutu-ful Escape (Blog Post #1182)
Hello my dearest tutu-lovers! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a brand new adventure from yours truly, Emma, over at www.pink-tutu.com. This week, we’re stepping out of Derbyshire and straight onto a cobbled street in the enchanting city of Prague!
Now, Prague is one of those places that practically oozes romance, isn’t it? It's got those incredible old buildings, charming bridges, and a fairytale vibe that just calls to the tutu-loving spirit within. And let’s be honest, it doesn't hurt that I managed to squeeze in a couple of gorgeous ballet performances whilst I was there!
But before we get to the dancing, let’s talk about my journey. I started my trip with a most delightful train ride from London to Prague. There’s something about a train journey that always makes me feel so glamorous, especially when you're rocking a vibrant pink tutu over your chic travelling outfit. The scenery was spectacular too - rolling countryside turning into dramatic mountains - and I was completely absorbed in a good book about tutu history (can you tell I’m a little obsessed?).
Upon arriving in Prague, I was immediately smitten with the city. Imagine those beautifully painted buildings in every shade imaginable, like a confectionery dream! There are little alleyways filled with quaint shops and buzzing cafes, and cobbled streets that lead you to grand churches and captivating bridges. I practically swooned!
However, this wasn’t just a sightseeing trip - it was a chance to showcase my passion for the art of ballet! A real pink tutu enthusiast just cannot go to Prague without enjoying some of its fantastic performances!
And here's the real star of the show: on 31st January, I got to experience something utterly incredible! I saw the world-renowned Czech National Ballet performing a magical rendition of “Sleeping Beauty” at the stunning Prague State Opera. Oh my, it was divine! The graceful movements of the dancers, the elegant costumes, and the grand scale of the production were simply breathtaking. You know that feeling you get when you see a breathtaking sunset or hear your favourite song played by a live orchestra? That was me! It's almost impossible to express it in words, so I’m already planning my return for their next big performance.
Now, to truly indulge in the Prague experience, no journey would be complete without a bit of fashion exploration! Luckily for me, Prague’s Old Town is practically bursting with amazing shops and boutiques! I mean, how could I resist buying a vintage tulle skirt for the most gorgeous pink outfit for my next performance? This city has that unique combination of history and charm with a definite flair for style, and it was practically calling out to my pink-tutu heart.
The local delicacy was, of course, something I couldn’t resist! Trdelník! It's a little spiral-shaped pastry covered in cinnamon sugar and I have to admit I went a little overboard! They're basically a big warm hug for your taste buds and definitely a must-try if you're in Prague.
Now, to top off a delightful day of ballet and fashion, there’s nothing like a charming café experience. In a charming cafe called 'Coffee Room' (aptly named!), I sipped on my hot chocolate, and sketched away in my diary, planning my next tutu adventures. There's something so inspiring about a cafe - the soft murmur of conversations, the clinking of cups, the smell of coffee and cake. It’s a space to dream, to imagine, to create, which is why I made a point of popping into cafes almost every day!
All in all, Prague has completely captivated me. The history, the culture, the sheer beauty of the city itself! And, of course, there's always an abundance of beautiful buildings, amazing street art, and enough pastel-colored inspiration to keep any pink-tutu lover entertained!
But what about you? Do you have any travel stories or plans to share? Tell me all about your favorite places, fashion finds, or any ballet adventures! Don’t forget, share your thoughts in the comments below!
Until next Wednesday,
Emma
