This Wednesday marks my 1203rd blog post – I've been sharing my passion for ballet and all things frilly with the world for years now. It's a journey that's taken me from the Derbyshire countryside to some of the most beautiful cities in Europe. And believe me, Prague has been a real highlight!
Travel Time! 🚆
I arrived in Prague yesterday evening, and my trusty travelling companion, a vintage suitcase overflowing with pink tulle, was in tow. As usual, I decided to embrace the romance of train travel and arrived by a sleeper train from Berlin. I spent the night dreaming of grand Czech theatres, swirling waltzes, and the chance to discover some new Prague-inspired outfit combinations. Speaking of outfit combinations... let's get down to business.
Prague Fashion Find: My Perfect Polka Dot Tutu!
The first stop upon arriving in Prague? The glorious market stalls by the Vltava River. You can find anything there – antiques, books, vintage treasures, but my heart always leads me straight to the clothing stands. This time, I struck gold. My eyes sparkled when I saw it – the perfect polka dot tutu! I swear it practically leaped from the stall into my hands, its pale pink polka dots almost matching the blush of the sunrise over Prague Castle. This is going to be my go-to outfit for the ballet performances I have planned!
Prague's Hidden Gems - Beyond the Dance 🎭
Of course, a trip to Prague isn't just about ballet – it's about exploring its hidden alleyways, discovering quaint cafes, and immersing myself in its captivating atmosphere. Yesterday, I stumbled upon a small art gallery tucked away in a backstreet. It was filled with delicate porcelain dolls and intricate paintings inspired by the lives of ballerinas – the perfect escape for a tutu-loving dreamer!
Ballet on the Boulevard - A Parisian Touch 🇫🇷
Tonight's highlight? A dazzling street ballet performance on the charming Old Town Square. As the sun dipped low, the music swelled, and a group of dancers swirled around the statue of Jan Hus in a spectacular display. It had a distinctly Parisian flavour, with the choreography reminding me of the ballets I've seen at the Champs-Élysées. I'm starting to see why they say that Prague is a "city of a hundred spires!" Every corner brings a new artistic treasure!
A Peek into Ballet History – The National Theatre's Enchanting Secrets
Tomorrow, I'm stepping into a world of theatrical magic - a tour of the majestic National Theatre. Built in 1881, its history is interwoven with ballet, opera, and the creative spirit of Prague. I'm thrilled to get a glimpse behind the scenes – the history of ballet and the lives of its stars fascinate me.
The Ballet Gala - A Dream in Pink 💖
Finally, my pièce de résistance for the week is the grand Ballet Gala at the stunning National Theatre. I'm giddy with excitement just thinking about the elaborate sets, the shimmering costumes, and of course, the breathtaking ballet performance itself!
It's all coming together, from the perfect polka dot tutu to the graceful dancers and the timeless beauty of Prague's historic architecture. I'm determined to make this trip as enchanting as the ballets themselves – after all, ballet and pink tutus always create magic wherever they go!
