Prague's Pretty Pink Perfection: Ballet, Boutiques, and a Dash of Bohemia - Post #1250

Wednesday, 22nd May, 2019

Hello, my darlings!

The train journey from Vienna was like a dream – the scenery gliding past my window, bathed in the warm golden light of the setting sun. I was sipping on a steaming cuppa (oh, how I've missed British tea!), snuggled into my soft velvet seat, and daydreaming about Prague. After all, I’ve always felt a certain connection to this city, with its fairy-tale castles, cobbled streets, and whispers of history in every corner.

And let’s be honest, wouldn’t a pink tutu look absolutely stunning against the backdrop of Prague’s iconic red-roofed architecture? Just imagine – a whirlwind of twirling and laughter, the blush pink tulle catching the light, amidst the bohemian charm of Prague's old town!

Speaking of twirling, today was all about ballet! The highlight of my week, and indeed my entire trip to Prague, was a performance at the National Theatre. I had my eyes set on “Giselle,” a masterpiece that transports you to a world of love, loss, and ethereal beauty. The dancers, so light and graceful, spun tales with every move, their bodies painting narratives of longing and tragedy, their tutus (oh, the tutus!), billowing and floating, echoing the emotional tapestry of the piece.

As I sat captivated, I couldn’t help but think of the history of ballet itself – its origins in the Italian courts, its journey across Europe, and its evolution into the art form we cherish today.

“Giselle” truly encapsulated the elegance and the drama that make ballet such a mesmerizing form. The performance itself was like a feast for the eyes. And if I may be bold, the tutus (especially Giselle's own ethereal white, wispy creation) were absolute show-stoppers.

After the show, I indulged in some post-ballet treats – delicious local pastries with a sweet, spiced filling. And then, what else could I do but lose myself in the maze of Prague's boutiques? I adore exploring new cities, particularly through their unique fashion scene.

The bohemian vibe of Prague is perfectly reflected in the local stores – a charming mix of vintage shops with delicate antique jewellery and funky little boutiques showcasing independent designers with bold prints and eclectic styles.

My little heart fluttered with joy as I unearthed a fabulous pink feather boa – it’s the perfect finishing touch for a romantic evening, or for a stroll through Prague’s enchanting night life! I just knew it was destined for my Pink Tutu collection – my love affair with pink, my unwavering passion for tutus, and my joy for sharing that joy with you all – it all comes together beautifully, and I just love it!

The air is still buzzing from the magic of the National Theatre, and as I drift off to sleep, the music from the ballet still dances in my head, I'm already dreaming of tomorrow's adventures.

Oh, and if you’re looking for some fun on your travels, do look out for the "Prague Tutu Stroll" on Saturday afternoon, where a vibrant group of ballet lovers will be parading around the Old Town Square – in tutus, naturally! It's an utterly joyful and uplifting experience!

I can’t wait to tell you all about it next week!

Until then, stay lovely and keep dancing!

Lots of pink love,

Emma xoxo
