Prague, Prague, Prague! Pink Tutu Explores the Czech Republic – Blog Post 1258

Hey Tutu-licious Troupe!

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of my Prague adventures! As always, I'm ready to twirl you through the city's gorgeous streets, share some magical ballet moments, and of course, dish about all the fashion finds that have caught my eye.

This week, I’ve got a very special treat in store – the culmination of weeks of planning and the reason for my trip to Prague in the first place: Pink Tutu takes to the stage!

Yes, you heard that right, darlings. Your girl is performing at the Ballet Nacional de Praga this very evening! And trust me, you won’t want to miss the magical performance – more on that later.

Before we dive into the performance though, let’s get down to business!

A Day of Shopping and Seeing: The Prague Magic

The journey to Prague from Derbyshire is a bit of a whirl. This time, I chose to take the train. It felt so romantic. (And yes, of course I was rocking my most beautiful pink tutu – a vintage silk masterpiece that belonged to my grandmother!) Trains are just so civilised, with comfy carriages and stunning scenery – who wouldn’t fall for them?

The moment I stepped off the train, I felt a certain buzz. Prague has such a mystical energy. Just imagine: cobbled streets that whisper tales of royalty and art, buildings adorned with exquisite detail that look as though they’ve sprung straight out of a fairytale, and charming little squares where you can find everything from charming trinket shops to cafes overflowing with warm pastries and strong coffee.

Before the performance, I had a whole morning to explore. The sun was shining, casting a beautiful golden light on everything I passed. You wouldn't believe the exquisite vintage shops I discovered – hidden away down alleyways and behind ornate archways, they are little havens of loveliness. It was a veritable treasure hunt for my wardrobe, and believe me, my purse suffered, but my soul sang!

Naturally, a pit stop for lunch was mandatory. A tiny bakery housed a most delightful selection of pastries, the colours practically calling to me: pink, lemon, emerald green, and of course, a splash of delicious caramel. I indulged, feeling fully justified because of the pink-tinted pistachio cream – heaven in a pastry!

Prague Ballet National - More Than a Performance

With a satisfied heart and tummy, it was time to head for the Ballet Nacional de Praga, tucked away on the outskirts of the old town. It is such a charming building! A beautiful blend of classic elegance with modern touches – they are seriously upping their game when it comes to architecture!

Stepping inside, the air hummed with excitement. Every dancer had that look in their eyes – that sense of joy and anticipation that only ballet can deliver. You just know they were going to bring the house down!

Tonight, they were performing a delightful rendition of The Sleeping Beauty. It’s always a pleasure to watch a ballet classic with such a new twist! The Prague dancers are incredible, with effortless grace and undeniable skill. Every pirouette was precise, every jump soaring, every gesture captivating. I couldn't help but tap my feet, feeling every note of the music within my bones.

But there was something truly special about the show tonight, a sense of camaraderie that resonated in the theatre itself. I had the honour of performing a solo piece with the dancers, a charming, playful little number featuring a delicate pink tutu and my most treasured ballet shoes – it was like a fairy-tale brought to life.

The applause, oh my, the applause! It washed over me like a wave of warmth. It's such a privilege to perform for an audience like this – it just reinforces why I do this, why I wear this pink tutu and follow my passion for dance. Every performance feels like magic, and Prague really added a layer of enchantment.

The Pink Tutu Finds…

Of course, any trip, ballet or otherwise, wouldn't be complete without some exciting finds for my wardrobe. My journey through the Prague markets was simply dreamy! Here are some of my favourites:

  • Vintage Hats: I came away with two stunners - one with a bright pink ostrich feather, perfect for a special event, and the other, a black lace affair for that understated yet chic look.
  • Bohemian-Inspired Jewelry: I was smitten with the intricate craftsmanship of these local artisans. It felt so luxurious, yet incredibly unique. Pearls, silver, turquoise – just beautiful!
  • Gorgeous Embroidered Blouses: Perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to any outfit. My eye was caught by delicate pink silk and hand-embroidered lace details. Just darling!

Oh, and speaking of whimsical... pony rides are all the rage in Prague! Now, this is something you don't see in Derbyshire. So, naturally, I had to indulge in a quick jaunt around the Old Town Square. It was an experience! The pony was as elegant and charming as the city itself.

Food, Food, Glorious Food

No visit to Prague is complete without exploring its incredible food scene. Here's a sneak peek of some of my culinary discoveries:

  • Trdelník: A sweet treat baked over an open flame, with that lovely crispy exterior and delicious filling of your choice. (I opted for cinnamon, a favourite of mine!)
  • Czech Beer: Smooth and refreshing – perfect for a hot afternoon (or evening!) The locals love their beer, so you can’t help but indulge!
  • Sweet Potato Gnocchi: Hearty, comforting, and delicious. The sweetness of the sweet potato pairs perfectly with the creamy sauce – a dream for the taste buds!
Pink Tutu Musings

Prague is truly magical, but it also has that certain magic that can make even the most independent tutu-wearing ballerina feel homesick. It's funny how something as simple as a cup of tea, served in a Derbyshire cafe with quaint china, can fill you with that sense of comfort.

I know, you're thinking “Emma, you've just travelled to the city of Prague - surely the world is your oyster, and your heart should be in the capital!” It’s true. Prague has taken a piece of my heart. But home is also my heart – Derbyshire will always hold a special place. I can’t wait to head home and share all the exciting news from my trip with my family, especially since my performance on Friday is dedicated to them.

Coming Up Next...

But don't worry, I won't leave you hanging. Next week, I'll be diving into my trip home from Prague, and sharing a delightful little recipe I learned from the baker who made my incredible pistachio pastry (don’t worry – it has a healthy pink hue). Stay tuned!

In the meantime, my darling readers, let’s spread a little pink magic. *Tell me your favourite pink tutu outfit! Which tutu makes you feel your best? *

Until next Wednesday, keep twirling, keep shining!

Lots of love and pink sparkle,

Emma xx
