Prague: A City of Charm and… Pink Tutús?

Wednesday, 20th November 2019

Blog Post No. 1276

Oh, darling readers! I'm bursting with excitement to be writing this week's blog from the heart of Prague! A city of cobbled streets, magnificent architecture, and, most importantly, endless opportunities for tutu-tastic adventures! (Have I mentioned I'm totally in love with tutús? 😉)

As usual, my trip was punctuated with a delightful dose of rail travel. There's just something about gazing out the window at the passing scenery, feeling the gentle sway of the train, and imagining myself a princess whisked away to a far-off land… with my trusty pink tutu, naturally!

Speaking of princesses, I am absolutely enamoured with Prague Castle. Oh, the fairytale atmosphere! The breathtaking views, the history whispered in every stone, and those gorgeous, oh-so-romantic turrets... it all felt like a scene from a ballet! And you just know that a graceful swan would look sensational perched atop one of those turrets, wouldn't she? (Hint, hint. Just a thought.)

The charm of Prague truly stole my heart! Cobblestone streets lead to hidden courtyards, overflowing with fragrant blossoms. Romantic bridges, where lovers whisper sweet nothings, draped in a tapestry of fairy lights. Quaint cafes, tucked away in nooks and crannies, beckoning you with the promise of warm apple strudel and frothy latte art. Honestly, darling, this place feels like a dream!

Now, of course, I simply couldn't visit a city as beautiful and steeped in history as Prague without embracing its cultural offerings, specifically ballet. Thankfully, Prague has a rich ballet tradition, dating back to the 17th century! This week I was utterly delighted to be at the National Theatre (such a beautiful, historical space!), for their captivating rendition of "The Nutcracker."

Watching those graceful ballerinas flit across the stage, their tutus billowing around them, took me straight back to my own childhood days of pirouettes and pliés in my little ballet studio back in Derbyshire. You could say, darling, it ignited a fire within my tutu-loving soul! (And believe me, I've been burning for a ballet lesson ever since!)

Speaking of tutus, I've been adding a little Parisian flair to my own dance-wear collection, having been lucky enough to wander through the cobbled streets of Prague's Old Town Square. I discovered a truly divine shop called "The Ballerina's Attic." (Can you believe it, darling? Pure destiny, I tell you!) Inside, nestled amongst rows of delicate satin and tulle, were tutus of every colour imaginable... but it was the glorious shade of blush pink that called out to me, you see. Just picture it, a vision in soft pink, twirling under the moonlit sky of Prague!

Later that afternoon, after my afternoon tutu hunt, I found myself at the Powder Tower. Talk about a majestic structure! Standing there, I could imagine those fearless knights of yore, clad in armour, galloping out into the fray. And naturally, their fearless female counterparts? Dressed in… tutús, of course! It all seemed so… obvious in hindsight, doesn’t it?

Oh, darling, you’ll never believe the adventures that unfolded later! After a decadent dinner of duck confit, washed down with the smoothest Czech wine (naturally, it had to be a blush rose!) we were in the mood for something magical. This city is famed for its enchanting nightlife, you know, a blend of traditional music, lively pubs, and those magical moonlit bridges that make Prague a must-visit destination. But, to truly embrace this magical atmosphere, I just knew I had to explore those winding cobbled alleys, in the warm embrace of dusk, feeling every cobble under my tiny, delicate tutu-clad feet. I can’t reveal the places we visited this night, darling… some secrets should only be shared amongst ourselves, don’t you think? You’ll have to trust me that they are simply beyond breathtaking!

And that brings us to this morning. The air is crisp and bright with that post-rain clarity, everything glittering under a golden morning sun. Today, I'll be exploring the Jewish Quarter, where centuries-old history lives on in its magnificent synagogues and winding, timeless alleys. I can almost hear the echoes of generations past, the whispers of a history rich with stories of courage and resilience. I shall return to the Pink-Tutu website with photos of my explorations in Prague later today. I just know, darling, that they’ll capture your imagination just as they capture mine!

Speaking of which, I just received my newest tutus for my Prague performance tomorrow. A symphony in scarlet and silver. Oh darling, it is the perfect contrast to the backdrop of this magical city, ready to ignite the stage with the magic of ballet. As I mentioned earlier, darling, you may remember I’ve taken up performing recently. Every time I step onto a stage and feel that connection with my audience, that beautiful shared feeling of joy and wonder – I know I'm where I'm meant to be. (And of course, my secret weapon: that exquisite pink tutu! It brings all those ballet dreams to life.)

Tomorrow's performance is the highlight of my Prague trip, so be sure to come back next Wednesday for my next post - all about my experience.

Until then, darling, keep twirling! And remember, the world is your stage. (Just add a pink tutu for an extra sprinkle of magic, you know? You'll look absolutely fabulous.)

Your pink-tutu-loving friend,

Emma
