Prague, Oh Prague! (Blog Post #1281)

Wednesday, 25th December 2019

Greetings, my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back with a festive update from the enchanting city of Prague. This time, it’s not just the Christmas spirit making the streets glow – it’s the magic of this beautiful place. As I sit here in my favourite pink dressing gown (with a hint of glitter, naturally!), sipping on a steaming mug of hot chocolate, I feel a sense of absolute wonder.

You see, darling, I'm here in Prague to celebrate Christmas a little differently this year – not just with a grand feast and family gatherings, but with the enchanting spirit of ballet! After all, there's no place quite like Prague for a true appreciation of the art form, and I'm simply besotted by it all!

Now, as many of you know, I've been dreaming of coming to Prague ever since I fell head over heels for its rich history and the romantic stories behind its architecture. I can practically see the dancing fairies of legend frolicking amongst the rooftops! And what better way to discover a new place than by getting to know its culture, and what better way to delve into culture than with the elegant grace of a ballet show?

Yes, you guessed it, darling, I’m going to the ballet today! Not just any ballet, mind you, but the truly splendid National Theatre Ballet performance of 'The Nutcracker'!

The anticipation is almost too much to bear. But first, I just have to share with you all the glamorous journey I took to get here.

The journey was nothing short of magical, even if it did involve a rather long train ride. It wasn't a straightforward journey either, requiring a change at Paris and a little more time to soak in the charming cafes and street art. Don’t worry, I even squeezed in a visit to the incredible Louvre museum, just to pay my respects to those magnificent works of art! It felt so glamorous, don't you think? A true Parisian escapade, just before heading into the snowy beauty of Prague.

When I arrived at Prague's historic station, I was transported back in time. The beautifully arched windows and the antique clock ticking with age truly captured my imagination! It felt like stepping out of a classic film, straight into a beautiful fairytale. I was practically gliding through the cobbled streets, feeling every bit the ballerina princess!

After a quick pit stop at my little haven, the charming Hotel Majestic Plaza, a delightfully chic pink and cream haven of pure delight, I put on my favourite floral-printed tutu and headed for the most magnificent place of all – the Old Town Square! The energy of the market, the twinkling lights, and the smell of cinnamon spiced cookies truly made it feel like Christmas had come early!

I simply couldn't resist trying out a few gingerbread cookies, but, I’ll admit, darling, they were a little harder to consume while keeping a tutu as pristine as this one!

Prague is a haven for history lovers like myself. And speaking of history, I’m absolutely in love with the city's impressive architecture. The gothic spires, the grand churches, the intricate sculptures… I simply cannot get enough of it! The most striking sight so far, darling, was the beautiful Prague Castle. It truly is like something straight out of a storybook!

My little heart almost burst with glee when I discovered this incredible cafe tucked away in a tiny alley – it served a magnificent raspberry macaroon with the cutest little miniature teacups! It felt almost as whimsical as waltzing in a ballet!

And don’t even get me started on the gorgeous little boutiques overflowing with enchanting handmade trinkets and exquisitely crafted glass ornaments. Each one felt like a miniature masterpiece. The charm, darling! You simply can't resist the lure of all things pretty in Prague.

And oh, darling, you must absolutely see the Charles Bridge! With its ancient sculptures, it feels like walking into another era entirely!

The evening is calling, darling, so I shall bid you adieu for now. However, I’ll be back with an exciting post about the performance itself very soon! Oh, and I might be sharing some secrets about my dream ballet wardrobe… a little treat for all you lovely pink tutu-lovers!

Until then, remember to wear your prettiest smile and always believe in the magic of ballet!

Your dearest Emma, xo
