Pink Tutu Prague - Ballet Blog Post #1285! š©°āØš
Bonjour, mes amis! Itās Wednesday again, so it must be time for another Pink Tutu Prague blog post! Can you believe Iām already halfway through January?! It seems like only yesterday I was ringing in the New Year back in good olā Derbyshire, England! But here I am, nestled snugly in Prague, surrounded by history, architecture, and, of course, all the fabulous pink tutus my heart desires!
Speaking of tutus, this weekās post is all about ballet in Prague, which is basically a synonym for āheaven on earthā if youāre a tutu-obsessed girl like me. š Today was especially spectacular because it was the day I got to experience the magic of the National Theatre! Imagine this: grand red velvet curtains, opulent chandeliers, a stage brimming with talent, and me in my dazzling pink tutu. I almost felt like I was transported to a bygone era ā maybe the Victorian era? (Just think, all those fantastic frills! š)
Now, before we delve into the show itself, I simply had to share a little tidbit about the National Theatre! Can we talk about the history? The theatre opened in 1881, showcasing Czech artistry in all its glory. Think elaborate frescoes, intricate carvings, and oh-so-dramatic balconies, each with its own story to tell. Itās a testament to the enduring power of culture, and just the perfect setting for an unforgettable ballet experience!
But the real story, of course, is what unfolds on that stage! The programme was a delight ā Giselle, one of my all-time favourite ballets. The dancers were simply phenomenal, with every gesture exuding grace and precision. And their tutus! Oh, my darlings! Letās just say I might have let out a little gasp (or maybe a squeal? I was truly speechless) at the sheer loveliness of them all!
But you know me, I can never simply appreciate ballet passively. No, I had to be inside the ballet, to feel the emotion, the movement, the power of this timeless art. I danced around my hotel room before the performance, just a tiny bit, with my pink tutu whirling around me like a dream. I could hear the music, the rhythm, and feel the spirit of ballet pulsing within me. It truly is a feeling like no other!
I have a little confession to make ā my love for tutus extends far beyond simply wearing them. Itās about the stories they tell, the eras they represent, the magic they evoke. While weāre on the subject of tutu history, did you know the first ballet tutus werenāt even remotely as billowing as the ones we see today? They were much shorter and more practical, designed for those whirlwind pirouettes and impossibly fast leaps! Over the years, they evolved, becoming ever more extravagant and ornate.
But in my humble opinion, thereās something so romantic about the full-skirted tutu! Maybe itās the whimsical air they create, or the feeling of complete freedom as they swirl and dance around you. No matter how they change over time, thereās something undeniable about the pure magic of the tutu ā a visual manifestation of balletās sheer beauty.
Speaking of sheer beauty, can we take a moment to talk about Prague itself?! This city is truly a dream! From the majestic Prague Castle perched high on the hill to the cobblestone streets that wind their way through the old town, Prague offers a magical mix of history and beauty. Iām definitely taking a moment to explore this magnificent city ā perhaps visit some of the lovely boutiques, browse through some vintage shops, and maybe find some vintage pink tutus? One can dream! š
As for tomorrow, my dear readers, Iām planning a trip to the Old Town Square. Itās a treasure trove of history and beauty, with the iconic Astronomical Clock standing proudly as its heart. The vibrant street performers, the delightful little cafes, and the endless possibilities for finding the perfect tutu accessory ā itās a ballerinaās paradise!
Until then, stay pink, stay fabulous, and keep those tutus twirling!
**With love,
Emma

I know you all love a good list (and who doesnāt?), so here's a rundown of what else I've been up to in this incredible city!

You bet your bottom dollar I was sporting my favourite pink tutu! (Who doesnāt like to practise in a little pink, after all?) * Had a fabulous dinner with my friend Isabella, another tutu-loving soul who also travels around the world with her pink tutu collection!
Monday * Spent the afternoon strolling through the charming streets of the Old Town. * Popped into the beautiful* Prague National Museum*. Itās full of history, and I actually found a display about tutu evolution! (Itās amazing to see how tutus have changed over time!) * Discovered a hidden courtyard with the most stunning floral displays. Perfect spot for a photoshoot with my trusty pink tutu!
Weekend * Travelled to Prague by train! The journey itself was an adventure ā and oh, so romantic. * Discovered the charming Franz Kafka Museum. Itās filled with fascinating exhibits about his life and work. I couldnāt help but be inspired by his creativity.
The Pink Tutu Life: š
If youāve been reading my blog for a while, you know I have a special philosophy for living a āpink tutuā life. Itās all about embracing joy, colour, and your inner ballerina! No matter where you are, who you are, or what you do, a little pink tutu can make the world a little bit brighter, a little more magical, and a little more fun. It's my hope that by sharing my love for tutus and for ballet, I can inspire others to dance with confidence, embrace their individuality, and let their inner pink tutu shine.
