Prague: Where the Cobblestones Meet the Tutu! (Post #1297)

Hello, darling tutus! It’s Wednesday again, and you know what that means… a new post on pink-tutu.com! 🩰

This week, I’m whisked away to the heart of Europe, Prague, a city where fairytale meets reality. And yes, I’m absolutely twirling with delight, not just at the beautiful architecture and winding streets, but also at the rich ballet history that permeates every cobblestone.

The journey to Prague was as enchanting as the destination itself. I boarded a train in Derbyshire (you know me, always travelling with style and comfort), the carriages were adorned with velvet and the view out of the window was a patchwork of green fields, sleepy villages, and rolling hills, as picturesque as a painting. I had my favourite book on ballet history nestled on my lap – "A History of Ballet Costume", because even when I'm on the go, there's always time for a little learning about the beauty and artistry of the dance!

When I finally arrived in Prague, I knew immediately that this city was destined for tutu-wearing adventures. The air smelled of fresh pastries, and the sound of horse-drawn carriages clopping over the cobblestones sent a wave of romanticism through me. And I tell you what, nothing elevates romanticism quite like a jaunty pink tutu – the perfect attire for exploring such a picturesque and romantic city.

This week's ballet adventures were bursting with energy and enchantment! I headed to the majestic National Theatre for a performance of the classic Swan Lake. Imagine: the soaring arches of the building, the rich velvet seats, and the dramatic lighting illuminating the performance of some of the most talented ballerinas I've ever seen. It was an experience that had me captivated from start to finish!

Now, I may be known for my love of all things pink and fluffy, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t got a discerning eye for a fabulous tutu! I discovered the most beautiful atelier hidden in a side street, overflowing with glittering tulle and silk. I just couldn’t resist a little shopping spree! I came home with a soft pink tutu, its tulle billowing and fluttering like the wings of a swan, perfect for a Parisian evening promenade!

Prague is truly a feast for the senses, with its architectural masterpieces, colourful markets bursting with handcrafted treasures, and the charming cafes and restaurants hidden away on narrow side streets. It's a place where you can sip coffee, enjoy a freshly baked pastry, and then hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a whimsical tour around the old town. You simply must come to Prague and immerse yourself in the captivating blend of history, culture and artistic inspiration.

But what really brings Prague to life? For me, it’s the sheer number of tutus I spot adorning statues and balconies! It's like they're acknowledging that Prague is a city that is forever twirling with imagination and creativity. I simply had to create my own whimsical photo shoot with a background of such beauty!

And I don’t just mean ballet tutus – I'm talking tutus for everything! From ballerina-inspired tutus in the local markets to playful, oversized tutus adorning fashion mannequins, it seems that Prague's obsession with tutus matches my own.

One of my favourite activities in Prague has been attending a class at a traditional ballet school in the city. You wouldn't believe the skills these students have – such talent and dedication. Seeing young, budding ballerinas working tirelessly in the studio reminded me why I first fell in love with this magical world of ballet.

You see, it's not just about the tutus for me, though I do love a fabulous pink tutu! It's about the way ballet can transform you, its ability to inspire, uplift, and connect us with the magic of the world. Prague is truly a place where you can feel that magic pulsing in every cobblestone, in every laugh, in every twirl!

Until next Wednesday, may you be filled with sunshine, smiles and of course, lots and lots of tutus!

Lots of love,

Emma x
