Prague, Oh Prague! - Post #1298 - A Tutu-tiful Time in the City of a Hundred Spires

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Prague post! I'm so excited to share my adventures with you this week. This past Wednesday, I took a little trip out of the city for a spot of horseriding - and I'm not talking about a gentle trot through a manicured paddock! No, dear reader, I'm talking about galloping through the Czech countryside in a dazzling pink tutu! (Because why be practical, when you can be fabulous?!)

Now, before I bore you with tales of my horseback escapades (though believe me, the story of my tutu falling down is hilarious, a true tale of horseflesh and pink fabric entanglement!), I must tell you about my absolute highlight of the week: ballet, and a whole lot of pink, naturally.

Prague's ballet scene is absolutely alive, brimming with passionate artists, both in the grand opera houses and in the street performers bringing dance to the public square. This week, I witnessed a magnificent ballet at the National Theatre - the very theatre that saw the premiere of Smetana's "The Bartered Bride" (the one with the folk-y music you might have heard at the pub last night, dear!). It was a tale of love, heartbreak, and triumph, told through the beautiful language of movement. But it was the tutus that truly stole the show. And oh, the tutus!

A symphony of pink swirled across the stage - a kaleidoscope of tulle and ribbons. I could practically feel the excitement vibrating from each and every twirl! A tutu can be so much more than just a costume. It's a symbol of strength, grace, and passion. It's a powerful statement, a shout of confidence. It says, "Here I am! I am ready to dance, to soar, to make my mark!"

My heart nearly burst with excitement. My pink tutu and I couldn't wait to take to the stage and join in! Of course, that would have been very, very frowned upon. The tutus at the National Theatre are meticulously designed, works of art themselves. It would have been a tutu-clad crime of the highest order!

And who needs to be a dancer when you can appreciate one? That's where my mission to get everyone wearing pink tutus comes in, darling. I may not be a professional ballerina (though I do attend class regularly, in my pink tutu, naturally!), but that doesn't stop me from finding beauty and magic in all forms of dance.

After the show, my tutu and I enjoyed a romantic evening at the Prague Castle. The architecture is truly magnificent - so much history and fairytale romance in one place! Imagine strolling through the gardens under a twinkling night sky, wearing a dreamy pink tutu… sheer magic!

Speaking of magic, you wouldn't believe what I found tucked away in a tiny, charming boutique near the castle. An entire collection of vintage tutus! They were all shades of pink, of course, each one a piece of history. I almost fainted with delight, I promise you! (Thankfully, I had a strong cup of hot chocolate nearby!).

I had to snap up a beautiful 1920s tutu, a piece of swirling pink silk that made my heart skip a beat. Can you imagine dancing the waltz with a dashing suitor in this beauty? Ah, pure poetry! I have a feeling this beauty will be the star of my next ballet performance.

Now, onto my latest fashion discoveries! I found some fantastic places in Prague that have everything a tutu-loving, pink-obsessed girl could ever need. My favorite has to be the most adorable vintage clothing store - it's like stepping back in time! Their selection of pink accessories is breathtaking. (A vintage pink hat would be the perfect accessory for a vintage pink tutu, wouldn't you say?)

I even found a little boutique that specialises in hand-stitched ballet shoes. It's all about custom designs, my dears. They even let me choose my own ribbon colour! (Naturally, it was pink!) My next pair of pointe shoes will be pink and personalised and perfectly matched with my favorite pink tutu. Just picture it, darling: ballet slippers the color of roses... swoon!

But Prague is more than just ballet and shopping. This week, I ventured out of the city and into the charming countryside. We took a quaint little train ride – there’s nothing quite like the feel of the wind in your hair as you speed across the countryside! But I must confess, the real reason I took this trip was to go on a horseback riding adventure! Yes, darling, horses and pink tutus! The perfect match for a fashion-forward and daring adventure! (Let’s just say my trusty steed was a little startled by the swirling pink of my tutu and there was a very brief, very spectacular, fall - but the countryside never saw a more glorious display of pink tulle!)

Next week, I plan to explore the heart of the city and share my favorite bohemian cafés - oh, the pastel pink furniture, and the oh-so-vintage wallpaper! I think my readers will fall in love with their bohemian style just like I did. It will make for some gorgeous snaps - which I shall be sharing with you all next Wednesday!

Until then, stay fabulous! Remember: never be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina, and always, always add a touch of pink to your day!

Love, Emma
