Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballerina's Delight!

Bonjour, mes chères lectrices! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means...time for a new Pink Tutu post! This week, I'm beaming from sunny Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, where I've been experiencing a whirlwind of ballet, beauty, and, of course, the most fabulous shopping.

As you all know, Prague holds a special place in my heart. It's a city brimming with history, charming architecture, and an undeniable romanticism. The cobblestone streets and medieval buildings whisper tales of royalty and grand ballet, which is a true tonic for a ballerina's soul!

My journey to Prague began, as always, with a delightful train ride. The countryside flitted by, dappled with sunlight and vibrant colours, while I indulged in a delicious pot of Earl Grey tea and devoured a good book - “The Story of the Dance” by Cecil Beattie, if you're interested in a good ballet history read, this is it, I highly recommend it.

After settling into my quaint little hotel, a stone's throw from the Old Town Square, it was time to get into character! I pulled out my newest tutu, a shimmering blush pink masterpiece, adorned with delicate crystals that danced with every twirl. My dear mother calls it my “Twinkle-Toes” tutu and I confess it's quite aptly named!

A wander through Prague's winding streets revealed a delightful plethora of treasures. Oh, the clothes shops! A haven of silks, lace, and velvet, begging to be worn. I confess, a little something pink found its way into my luggage. It's simply impossible to resist! And for you fashionistas out there, let me tell you - Prague has it all. From exquisite vintage pieces in tucked-away boutiques to designer labels on the most glamorous avenues, every shopping soul will find their sartorial paradise.

But for a true ballet lover like me, there's no greater thrill than visiting a new city's ballet scene.

The Prague Ballet Company: An Elegant Evening

And Prague did not disappoint. On this very date, 29th April, 2020, I was treated to a phenomenal performance by the Prague Ballet Company. They performed a stunning interpretation of “The Nutcracker,” it was breathtakingly beautiful! The dancers were exquisitely graceful, their movements fluid and passionate. I was completely transported, my imagination soaring alongside the dancers as the story unfolded. You know how I love a classic story and Tchaikovsky's score - magic. This is certainly a must-see if you’re planning to visit Prague, they do a spectacular job!

I also made a quick pitstop at the Prague National Theatre. Even without a performance, the architectural masterpiece itself is a work of art. The building, a magnificent mix of Renaissance and Art Nouveau styles, simply exudes elegance.

A Pink Tutu Stroll through the City

In true Pink Tutu spirit, I couldn't leave Prague without embracing its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking architecture. The Charles Bridge was a particular favourite. The stone-carved statues, lined up along the bridge's side, felt like stepping into a storybook. I'm pretty sure I twirled just a tad as I crossed, my tutu adding a touch of ballet magic to the fairytale setting.

I made my way through the Old Town Square, stopping at the famous Astronomical Clock. As the figures sprang to life, I imagined the Prague clockmaker - masterful craftsman, inspired by the grace of dancers and the movement of stars. A perfect pairing of artistic pursuits.

No trip to Prague would be complete without a visit to the Prague Castle. It felt like stepping back in time! The magnificent towers, intricate details and captivating history simply take your breath away.

The next morning, before heading off to the train station, I enjoyed a quiet breakfast at a delightful café just off the bustling Old Town Square. I savoured the delicious pastries and steaming cup of Czech coffee. The smell of fresh croissants in the air always evokes the joy of travel. The aroma, like the smell of a vintage book, it's a memory, evoking past trips and promising future adventures.

Pink Tutu: It's All About the Journey

It's true what they say about travel: it broadens your perspective. I can say with complete certainty that this trip to Prague was another delightful chapter in my life, filled with inspiring ballet, captivating sights, shopping adventures and even more lovely tutus.

Don't forget to come back for more next week!

Stay pink!
