Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Bonanza! 🩰💖

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, my lovely tutu-loving friends! This week, I'm absolutely bursting with excitement, ready to share a whirlwind adventure filled with all things pink, fluffy and fabulous! 💖

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another post on www.pink-tutu.com! This is blog post number 1323 - yes, that's right, 1323! Can you believe it? I've been writing these blog posts for ages! I remember starting out all those years ago, back in Derbyshire, when all I wanted to do was spread the love of the pink tutu far and wide! 🥰

So, what have I been up to this week? Well, where to start... Prague has truly stolen my heart. I’ve been here for a few weeks now, travelling on the trusty choo-choo train, of course (because, let's be honest, trains are the best way to travel!) I just love being able to look out the window and see the beautiful scenery whizzing by! And, on one very exciting trip, I even had the pleasure of travelling on a real, live pony! Isn't that fabulous? ✨

The train took me to Prague's enchanting city centre, with its cobbled streets, magnificent architecture, and vibrant street performers - so much inspiration for the tutu! Everywhere you look in Prague there's something captivating! 🤩

And now for the real highlight: the ballet! On Wednesday, 14th October, Prague's famous National Theatre played host to a show that had me twirling in my seat. “La Fille Mal Gardée” - oh my! It was a breathtaking performance with such lovely costumes! 💃🩰 It’s incredible how this classic ballet just pulls you into its magical world, and how talented the dancers were! Truly magical!

But it wasn’t just the performance that filled my ballet-loving heart with joy! Oh no! I also discovered the National Theatre's fantastic museum, packed full of amazing ballet memorabilia, gorgeous sketches, and, of course, costumes galore! 😍 It was such an insightful look behind the curtain of this historical, cultural jewel, giving a real sense of its evolution and place within the wider ballet world.

Speaking of history, I’ve been researching the rich history of the tutu itself! Did you know it has roots that date all the way back to the Renaissance?! From the early, long skirts and pannier styles of the 1500s, through to the shorter, ‘romanticist’ tutut and all those wonderful variations, the tutu truly has had a captivating journey. It just goes to show how powerful fashion can be - it doesn’t just adorn our bodies, but tells our stories.

And what’s a visit to a magnificent city like Prague without a little bit of retail therapy? My friend (who happens to be an equally fabulous pink-loving fashionista) joined me on an extravagant shopping spree, leaving me with enough gorgeous pieces for all of my upcoming performances (because, yes, the show must go on!) 🛍 👠 💖

It’s hard to choose a favourite moment from this week – it was truly filled with so many joyous things: ballets, shopping, travelling by train and even pony rides, all under the gorgeous skies of Prague! But for me, the most magical part is seeing those bright eyes light up with joy whenever I wear a tutu. That's why I always feel a joyful twirl coming on! Let's keep on spreading that love!

See you all next week, tutu-loving friends! Until then, keep it fabulous! ✨ 💖

With love,

Emma xx
