Prague: The City of a Thousand Pink Tutues (Blog Post #1324)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, reporting live from the enchanting city of Prague! I know, I know, you're probably thinking, "Prague? Really, Emma? It's October, not spring!" But trust me, Prague is just as magical in the autumn, especially when you're a ballet-loving girly-girl like myself! This week's post is a bit of a love letter to Prague, a city that truly embraced my pink tutu and I.

My journey began, as it so often does, with a train ride. A glorious, comfy, slightly rickety old train that whisked me away from the crisp Derbyshire air towards the cobbled streets and medieval charm of Prague. There's something about a train journey that instantly puts me in the mood for adventure, and the train ride, accompanied by the clinking of glasses and a lovely lady in a feathered hat, certainly did the trick.

Arriving in Prague felt like stepping into a fairytale, especially as the train station itself was like a gothic castle! The city itself was awash in the warm, golden glow of the autumn afternoon sun. I knew I was going to be absolutely smitten.

The first stop was, of course, a fashion spree! Prague, oh Prague, you have captured my heart with your gorgeous boutiques. From delicate Bohemian lace to antique velvet jackets, every shop screamed, "Emma, buy me!" The real highlight? I found a beautiful vintage pink tutu with the most delicate embroidered flowers that matched the pastel pink hues of the old town walls. It was love at first sight. It practically begged to be worn while strolling across the Charles Bridge, and that's exactly what I did!

The Charles Bridge, with its historic statues and vibrant views, provided the perfect backdrop for my first twirl in Prague. It felt like I was twirling my way through centuries, a pink-tutu-clad princess amidst the echoes of a city steeped in history.

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without indulging in a spot of ballet, wouldn't you agree? After a rather lovely meal of duck with dumplings (which, by the way, I highly recommend, especially after a twirl or two!), I made my way to the breathtaking Estates Theatre. They were staging Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and it was simply breathtaking! The dancers, so elegant and graceful, their costumes like dreams come true, transported me to another world.

Even after the performance, my love for Prague's ballet scene wasn't satisfied. I absolutely had to join in the fun, so I headed to a ballet studio, one with high vaulted ceilings and beautifully worn wooden floors. The teacher, a kindly lady named Mrs. Hana, gave me a warm welcome and a charming lesson, even complimenting me on my choice of pink tutu! It was a dream come true.

The next day, I had a truly remarkable adventure - I decided to explore Prague in style by horseback! I rode a little chestnut pony called Princess (what else could she be called?) through the city's outskirts, stopping for tea and pastries at a picturesque countryside inn.

Honestly, the scenery was so stunning I felt like I was riding through a picture postcard. Prague has such a way of making you feel like you've stepped back in time. The wind through my hair, the gentle trot of Princess beneath me, it was like a fairytale come to life!

While riding through the leafy suburbs, I found an open-air market bursting with colour. I'd already spent all my travelling money, but I knew that was just an excuse to earn more, so I did what any pink-tutu-loving ballet enthusiast would do - I joined the street performers. It felt rather surreal, but amazing to feel the joy of the music, the movement, and the delighted reactions of the crowd!

Speaking of pink tutus, the whole city seems to have been embracing this style. I noticed young girls in their ballet lessons twirling in vibrant pink tutus, and I even spotted a waiter in a pink tutu serving pastries at a café (maybe I should apply?). Prague truly seems to have embraced the colour pink, which makes this pink-tutu-loving ballet fan very happy.

This weekend, Prague truly made its mark on my heart. From its medieval architecture and historical charm to the stunning performances and the kindness of the people, Prague embraced my pink tutu and the ballet lifestyle like no other city I have been to before.

Until next week darlings, and remember, you can embrace your inner ballerina no matter where you are! You don’t need to be in Prague, in a tutu, or even be dancing ballet.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think it's time for a final twirl. I wonder if there are any pink tutus at this lovely cafe I just found… Ciao for now!
