Post 1325: Prague Dreams and Pink Tutus: A Ballerina’s Paradise

Wednesday 28th October 2020

Hello my lovely tutu-twirling friends! It's Emma here, reporting live from the magical city of Prague. This week’s adventures have been overflowing with beauty, history, and of course, tutus!

Now, let's just talk about Prague. It’s everything I imagined: cobbled streets, fairytale castles, enchanting architecture. It's the kind of city that could inspire a thousand ballerina dreams! The air is filled with the melody of history, the colours are vibrant, and there's a distinct sense of artistic magic.

And I am on a mission to bring some of that magic to the streets, one pink tutu at a time! I mean, is there a better way to celebrate such a stunning location than with a touch of pink tulle and a graceful twirl? I can already envision my photoshoots in front of the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, and the magical Old Town Square… It’s like a ballerina's fairytale, except with a whole lot more tutus!

A Day in Prague:

The last few days have been a whirlwind of adventure! Arriving in Prague by train (the best mode of travel, if you ask me!), I felt a wave of excitement wash over me. The train journey itself was magical, passing through rolling hills painted with fiery autumn hues, with each station echoing a whisper of the journey’s beauty.

Upon arriving, I decided to set off for the beautiful Charles Bridge. As I walked towards it, I couldn't resist pulling out my pink tulle, letting it billow in the wind and creating a magical ballet scene as the cobblestone path unfurled before me.

I was met with an abundance of artists showcasing their talent: talented painters, singers, and of course, street performers! There were musicians with violins and accordions serenading the crowds, artists creating intricate masterpieces, and even a group of acrobats balancing on ropes like a graceful dance. This was what I truly believed a city like Prague should be - an eclectic, energetic, vibrant and colourful tapestry. My own dance experience, even with a pink tutu, could never really be as good. But my inner ballerina is thrilled nonetheless!

Tutu Time!: A Shopping Spree & Ballet Bliss

My ballerina’s heart skipped a beat when I arrived at the charming boutiques on the outskirts of Old Town. I’m a little obsessed with exploring new shops on my travels - and a city like Prague just gives you an endless supply of charming boutiques and exquisite fabrics. It’s not every day you discover such an abundance of beautiful lace and shimmering silk.

One shop, a delightful vintage haven overflowing with vintage treasures, housed a magnificent collection of tutus! I had to pinch myself. I practically spent the whole afternoon there, examining the beautiful materials. One tutu in particular, a vintage lace creation with delicate pastel ribbons, was just begging to be twirled.

Of course, it had to come home with me. What’s a ballerina’s shopping spree in Prague without a brand-new tutu to add to the collection?

Later that evening, I indulged in a true cultural experience: a ballet performance at the National Theatre. I was transported to a world of elegance, grace, and sheer artistic beauty! The ballet company performed ‘Sleeping Beauty’ with such elegance and precision.

To my absolute delight, I also had the pleasure of spotting a few of Prague’s ballerinas twirling around the city in their pink tutus! I had to approach them, exchanging ballerina compliments and getting them to promise to add more pink tutus to their wardrobe. We had a lovely time and ended up at a little cafe nearby to share coffee and stories.

I find it remarkable how dance unites people, creating shared passions and conversations that extend beyond the language of words. This is one of the many things I love about ballet: it’s more than a dance form, it’s a world of endless expression.

Dancing to a Historical Tune: A Glimpse Into Ballet’s Past

What I loved about my explorations of Prague was not only the modern sights and sounds, but the chance to take in its rich history and cultural heritage. The city’s story truly intertwines with the evolution of the arts, ballet especially. Prague's rich theatrical history gave me the opportunity to uncover fascinating stories about the earliest ballets and the famous dancers who performed them on this very ground.

From visiting The Estates Theatre where Mozart conducted his first symphony, to exploring the ancient city halls and Baroque buildings, the history of dance simply echoed within those very walls. It truly is a captivating blend of culture, art, and architecture.

One of my favourite discoveries was The National Theatre. It stands tall with a fascinating story of its own! Built during a time of cultural revolution in the late 19th century, it has served as a testament to the enduring power of the arts. And who can resist a touch of that power! I made a point of attending a couple of performances, mesmerised by the sheer talent and grace displayed on stage.

A Tutus Full of Plans:

My time in Prague has been overflowing with magical memories! From the fairytale architecture to the incredible ballet performances, each moment has been infused with artistic beauty. And I couldn’t have asked for a more magical backdrop for my pink tutu photoshoots! I hope my stories will encourage you all to embrace your inner ballerina and maybe even find your own personal style for embracing a bit of pink tulle in your life.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my website to join me on my weekly journey of dance, travel, fashion, and a touch of pink! I have a lot more adventures to share and many more places to dance!

Until next time, my fellow twirlers, stay sparkly!
