Prague: Pink Tutu Adventures!

Hello, my darling tutu lovers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu, where every week, I whisk you away to a new corner of the world, adorned in my signature pink tulle and twirling to the beat of life. Today, my darlings, we're heading to the heart of Europe – Prague, a city so beautiful, it makes even this fashionista speechless!

#1332: Prague - December 16th, 2020

This week's adventure began with the sunrise, literally. I rose before the dawn, eager to catch the first train to Prague. You see, I'm a firm believer in embracing every minute of a journey, and train journeys offer a unique blend of observation and a chance to delve into a good book. The countryside sped by, painted in hues of wintery brown and crisp, fresh snow – just like my mood!

As we approached the heart of Prague, the anticipation for my week's grand performance started bubbling within me. I knew it would be spectacular; after all, I had a carefully planned itinerary: a whirlwind tour of historical landmarks, fashion stores galore, and a performance that would be a feast for the senses!

The Majesty of Prague: A Stroll Through History

I landed in Prague, a vision in pink – yes, naturally I was wearing a glorious, voluminous tulle tutu! A pink, floral print scarf for warmth and a vintage beret to finish the look – what else would a ballet blogger wear in December? As soon as I stepped onto the cobblestone streets, I knew this city had a story to tell.

Our first stop? The stunning Prague Castle! The snow fell softly as we made our way up the steep incline, and I felt like I'd stepped straight out of a fairytale. I imagine that princesses of old would have pranced about these very grounds in elaborate tulle creations – and indeed, tutus have a very long and regal history, tracing their roots right back to the 18th century! You could even argue that ballet skirts, with their intricate pleats and sheer elegance, are the precursor to the tutus we love today!

We strolled through the grand halls, marvelled at the intricate gothic architecture, and peeked into the captivating Golden Lane - a street of adorable little houses, some of which were even used by the alchemists who once served the Royal court! What a delightful introduction to this charming city!

Fashionista on the Prowl: Unveiling the Prague Fashion Scene

Next on the agenda, a very special shopping experience. Oh, my darling tutus, you can imagine my joy when I found myself in a magical land of fashion heaven! Prague boasts a vibrant mix of high-street and vintage stores. I stumbled across hidden gems on narrow, twisting cobblestone alleys, and let my eyes drink in the creativity in each shop window.

Oh, the treasures I discovered! Delicate lace dresses, vintage sweaters with delicate embroidery, a beautiful selection of floral headbands and scarves… It was a veritable sartorial paradise. And of course, my darling, I added a few pieces to my already expansive collection. What is a pink tutu without the perfect accessories?

And here, I must confess – I did indulge in some shopping therapy. There’s something incredibly exciting about exploring a new city and indulging in the delights of a new fashion scene. I found the most wonderful shops – with handbags adorned with crystal-encrusted ballerina slippers and charming porcelain figures dancing across ornate necklaces!

A Grand Performance at The Estates Theatre:

And finally, my dear ones, we come to the heart of my Prague experience. You see, I'm not only a ballerina, a travel blogger, a tutu enthusiast, but also a fervent ballet devotee. Every week, my travels take me to exciting new destinations where I can catch ballet performances. This week, I took my seat in Prague's magnificent Estates Theatre, a true monument to art and history.

Tonight's production was "The Nutcracker," and the energy in the air was pure magic. It is one of my favourite Christmas ballet shows! A beautiful young girl – a sweet reminder of how graceful, beautiful and full of life young girls are - with perfect posture and the elegance of a graceful ballerina, took me to a land of imagination with each step, while the talented male dancers, dressed as dapper little soldiers, stole the show with their dazzling strength and impressive athleticism.

I simply loved the charming, almost child-like simplicity of this ballet. The romantic story with its vibrant characters, beautifully orchestrated movements and the timeless melodies – the sheer perfection of the ballet made my heart flutter with happiness! I truly feel blessed to share my passion for the arts and enjoy this amazing opportunity to witness ballet in all its glory, with its intricate movements and dramatic emotions, the joy and elegance - that is my love! Oh, I hope it all made its way through the magical pink tulle and into your heart as well!

From Prague, with Love and Tutu:

Prague was an absolute delight, filled with beautiful moments that I will cherish forever. Each new adventure offers something different – a unique glimpse into a new world and a chance to inspire everyone I meet, a pink tutu at a time. Remember, darling, you too can be a ballerina, no matter what age or where you come from! Find the joy in every step, the music in every moment, and twirl with confidence and flair. It’s all about believing in yourself and embracing the joy that comes from letting your heart lead you – always adorned with the grace of a pink tutu, of course!
