Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet in the City of a Hundred Spires (Blog Post #1437)

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Prague, the weekly blog from your favourite tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed travel writer!

I'm currently in the beautiful city of Prague, and let me tell you, it's a ballerina's dream! With its cobbled streets, fairytale architecture, and charming cafes, I feel like I've stepped straight out of a storybook. And that's before I even mention the incredible ballet scene!

Now, you know how much I love to go exploring on my travels, and Prague hasn't disappointed! Today, I went on a whistle-stop tour of the Old Town Square, gazing in awe at the astronomical clock. I even spotted a little café with the most adorable pink-and-white floral display. I had to grab a cappuccino and a slice of their delicious poppy seed cake, naturally. You can never resist a good slice of poppy seed cake when it comes with a dash of pink, right?

After a delightful morning of sightseeing, I indulged in a spot of afternoon tea at the famous Café Savoy. It's one of the oldest cafes in Prague and is simply breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning Art Nouveau decor. Honestly, the whole atmosphere is practically begging you to spin and leap - so naturally, I couldn't resist. (Thankfully, no one seemed to mind, and they even provided complimentary rose water in a silver pitcher - I felt like a proper princess!)

Ballet in Prague:

And of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without seeing some ballet. Tonight's show was "Giselle" at the National Theatre. I've seen this ballet a hundred times before, but in Prague, it felt truly special. The costumes, the dancing, the venue itself… the whole thing just shimmered. I even saw a fellow pink-tutu-wearing aficionado sitting in the balcony! I do believe we made eye contact – maybe we’ll meet in a tutu tea party somewhere soon. 😉

The choreography, oh the choreography! So graceful and emotive. Every single movement flowed seamlessly, and I felt myself being completely swept away by the story. I love Giselle – the drama, the passion, the tragedy, it all just gets me so caught up. It's no wonder it's one of the most popular ballets in the world! (And to be honest, every now and then it does make me ponder about all the dramatic men and their questionable intentions!)

I can’t talk about this magical city without a mention of the Czech National Ballet. Oh, these incredible dancers! It was almost as if they danced right into my heart and danced their way out, only to do it all again and again! I am so incredibly inspired! If you find yourself in Prague, darling, you must get yourself a ticket to a show. You will not regret it.

Finding The Perfect Pink Tutu for Prague

Now, a girl can’t visit Prague without picking up some souvenirs, can she? It’s not a surprise that I couldn’t resist adding to my ever-growing tutu collection (you know, every girl needs a tutu for every occasion!). But today wasn’t just about the pink tutu…it was all about finding the perfect pink tutu.

So naturally, after the ballet I dashed to one of my favourite stores - a lovely boutique nestled down a quiet side street in the old town. And, just as if it was destined to be, it was a complete triumph! I found the most gorgeous powder pink tulle tutu, all layers and ruffles, perfect for twirling around Prague’s romantic streets. I even paired it with a velvet blazer, and a beautiful hand-painted vintage handbag - pure girly Parisian elegance, if you will. And don't get me started on the shoes! They’re ballet-inspired flats in the softest shade of pink, perfectly complimenting my tutu-blazer ensemble!

Now, if you’re planning your own ballet-inspired trip to Prague, you may be wondering how I manage to fund these grand travels. Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret: it's all about a healthy combination of passion and perseverance! Whenever I'm not hopping on a train (I’m rather fond of travelling by train, darling, and you’ll never see me without a lovely floral hat and my favorite velvet cloak, you know… for extra charm), or catching a pony (another one of my travel loves!), I’m busy performing! My tutu work doesn’t stop me from dancing my way around the globe!

My pink tutus often see me grace many stages! From glamorous ballrooms to rustic country pubs… wherever the music takes me, my pink tutu follows, twirling alongside me! The life of a professional dancer is exciting, always challenging and sometimes quite exhausting. But let me tell you, there is nothing better than the rush of the applause and the joy that comes from sharing my love for dance with others. It's simply a way of life.

If there's anything that can help make the world a better place, it's dance and pink tutus, don't you think? And until my next adventure, remember – there's no limit to how high you can twirl and there's no wrong way to wear pink!

What to Expect in Prague Next Week

So, next week I’ll be posting from Prague's charming Lesser Town district, a neighbourhood known for its lovely views and picture-perfect squares. And yes, dear readers, you guessed it… we'll be hitting the shops again, maybe even try on a few more pink tutus! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Prague blog post without some sartorial shenanigans.

See you then, darling! Remember to keep those twirls and spins going – we have a whole world to twirl around. And keep your pink tutu handy, you never know when you’ll need a little pink inspiration in your life. 😉

Stay gorgeous,

Emma
