Hello my precious pink-loving ponies! It's Emma here, your resident tutu-obsessed traveller, and this week, we're waltzing our way through the cobbled streets of Prague!
This city, with its gothic spires and fairytale architecture, is a ballet dancer's dream! Everywhere I turn, I see graceful bridges echoing the lines of a ballerina's posture, and the ornate buildings are just begging for a pirouette. And let me tell you, I am absolutely living for the endless photo opportunities in these dreamy surroundings. Just picture me, darling, in my favourite pink tutu, swirling amidst the historical wonders of Prague, the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square... pure tutu magic!
This week, my journey started in Derbyshire, a hop, skip, and jump to St Pancras International. It's always an adventure boarding a train, a ballet dancer's preferred mode of transport. Just imagine the elegant swaying as the carriages glide across the tracks, so reminiscent of a grand pas de deux! A journey in a sleeper carriage with a pink tutu on is the epitome of elegance and whimsy.
My dear readers, Prague is a city brimming with historical ballet charm. My trip started with a captivating visit to the National Theatre. It’s not just about the building itself - a breathtaking neo-Renaissance structure overlooking the Vltava River - it's the history that whispers in every corner. Just picture it: ballet legend Anna Pavlova gracing the stage in a glorious pink tutu…
After the theatre, it was off to explore the Old Town Square, where I couldn’t resist twirling through the magical Christmas market, all glittering with lights and filled with the scents of roasted chestnuts and spiced wine. Imagine a scene straight out of 'The Nutcracker,' but with the most divine smelling hot chocolate! I simply adore these European Christmas markets, and the charm of the Czech traditions made the trip even more enchanting.
But my adventures in Prague don’t stop at sightseeing, darlings! It wouldn't be a proper pink tutu pilgrimage without a dose of shopping, and the city's charming boutiques certainly didn't disappoint! Imagine my glee as I found the most delightful pink feathered boa at a quirky antique shop! This, dear friends, will make the perfect accessory for my next pink tutu ballet performance! I also stumbled upon a vintage clothing shop overflowing with delicate lace dresses that would make even the most demanding ballerina envious. They are just the thing for creating the perfect romantic ballet outfit, especially with the addition of a fabulous, frilly pink tutu.
Speaking of ballet performances, my friends, there was no way I was leaving Prague without experiencing a show at the National Theatre. Last night, I had the privilege of attending a breathtaking performance of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake.’ Imagine the grace, the fluidity, the emotional depth - I felt my heart soaring with each pirouette, each elegant plié. Watching the ballet is a dream come true, a chance to lose myself in a world of beauty and elegance. It’s more than just watching dancers, it’s witnessing a story unfold before your very eyes! And of course, it would not be a complete pink tutu adventure without my favourite pink tutu making an appearance in the audience, it wouldn't be a proper ballerina adventure!
But hold on to your ballet shoes, darling, for this is just the beginning! Tomorrow I'll be heading to the Prague State Opera House. I've heard whispers of its exquisite interior and opulent décor and I'm already envisioning myself, twirling and leaping amidst the opulence. The sheer artistry of the building mirrors the grace and precision of the ballet itself, and the architecture here is almost a tribute to ballet's history. The stage, the setting, the dance floor, they are all so inviting, they're asking me to dance!
