Prague-fectly Pink: A Tutu-ful Adventure in the City of a Thousand Spires (Blog Post #1503)
Hello, my gorgeous ballet-loving babes! Emma here, back with a fresh instalment from the magical city of Prague! I know it's Wednesday and you're probably sipping your afternoon tea and eyeing up the latest ballet shoe styles (mine are a gorgeous blush pink this week!), so I won't keep you waiting. Let's get this Prague party started!
A Pony Ride to PragueI know what you're thinking: āEmma, did you actually ride a pony to Prague?ā Well, not quite! Although the train ride was absolutely blissful (I love nothing more than a good train journey, and watching the world whizz past from my window), I must admit to indulging in a little pony ride once I reached the fairytale-like Czech capital. Prague, darling, is so photogenic, and what better way to capture its magic than with a pink tutu, a pretty pink bow in my hair, and a pony named Princess? (How perfect, right?) The old town is positively bursting with character ā cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and oh-so-many charming shops!
Tutu History at the National TheatreIām on a mission to learn more about the history of tutus, you know. The story behind each graceful twirl, each magnificent design, is simply fascinating. And here in Prague, I was in for a real treat. Imagine, darling, the National Theatre ā a true testament to architectural beauty and one of Pragueās most prized landmarks. The National Theatre Balletās history dates back to the 19th century! This beautiful building, dripping with opulence and steeped in history, has been home to some of the greatest ballets of our time, and of course, some breathtaking tutu designs. This little ballerina couldnāt wait to see what treasures awaited!
"A Pink Tutu Moment": A Breathtaking Ballet PerformanceIād been itching to see a ballet, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed! It was a dream. On Wednesday 27th March 2024, I witnessed the sheer beauty of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" at the beautiful National Theatre. Everything was so perfectly in sync: the dancersā movements, the orchestraās melody, even the exquisite choreography! I cannot wait to go back again, there are so many amazing ballet shows coming to Prague this year!
But Iām not only obsessed with the actual ballet, darlings! Iām all about the costumes. āSwan Lakeā was pure elegance! Each costume was a work of art: the swanās costumes ā ethereal and breathtaking in their graceful design ā and of course, the beautifully shimmering tutus. You're probably thinking, āEmma, pink tutu, right?ā Well, the ballerina performing the Swan Queen's role wore the most stunning black, almost shimmering, tutu! The design was absolutely timeless and elegant ā and perfectly complimented the characterās graceful movements. Itās definitely going to be added to my dream tutu wish list, darling!
Fashion Spree & Tea at a Gorgeous Prague CafĆ©You all know how I adore a good shopping spree! The vintage boutiques of Prague were my haven, with so many amazing pieces I could barely contain my excitement! I even managed to find a beautiful vintage silk scarf, perfect for adding a pop of colour to my wardrobe! You know how much I love a little āpop of colour,ā but Iām a big fan of pairing those colourful accents with classic looks ā think bold, but tasteful! I simply love pairing these beautiful vintage pieces with modern-day staples, creating unique looks that are true to my style!
But no trip to Prague is complete without a touch of the divine: tea and cake, darling! The afternoon tea I had in a quaint cafe with an adorable pink terrace was simply dreamy. Thereās just something about the delicate flavours and intricate decorations that make it a truly sophisticated treat. After the tea, I had a lovely chat with a charming young woman working in the cafe ā we talked about the ballet! (Did you know, darlings, that Prague is also known for its rich tradition of ballet street performances? I just have to see one before I leave!)
Prague at SunsetAs the day drew to a close, I couldn't resist venturing to the Charles Bridge for a sunset stroll. It was absolutely magical. Imagine it: the golden light painting the sky, casting beautiful hues across the Vltava River, the twinkling city lights, the historical grandeur of the Charles Bridge itselfā¦ The perfect backdrop for my pink tutu and me to enjoy a little ballet moment! I mean, you know a girl's gotta capture a few stunning photographs to share with my followers, right?!
A Prague Love AffairAnd so, dear ballet bunnies, another magical journey draws to a close. Prague has definitely captured my heart. It's the kind of place where you lose yourself in the charming alleyways and the enchanting atmosphere. And I can't help but think how much everyone needs a little touch of the ballet spirit in their lives ā it's about elegance, grace, beauty, and yes, even a touch of playfulness, darling.
Until next week, keep twirling! Iām off to chase down a street performance before heading to the next leg of my ballet adventures!
Lots of love,
Emma (aka, the pink tutu girl)
