Prague, darling, Prague! (Post #1508)

Well, hello lovelies! Itā€™s Wednesday, which means itā€™s time for another pink tutu-filled adventure from yours truly, Emma, and this week, I'm waltzing my way through the cobbled streets of Prague!

My darling tutu has been itching to explore the magic of Central Europe for months now, and as the saying goes, "Thereā€™s no time like the present", or "Dance now, worry about your tutus later," as I like to say!

I have to admit, I've been eyeing up the cultural riches of Prague for some time. The history, the architecture, the famous Charles Bridge, oh, the stories those stones could tell! And then thereā€™s the ballet. I simply couldn't miss out on experiencing the National Theatre and the world-renowned dancers.

But first, let's talk about my journey! I opted for a delightful train ride from Derbyshire ā€“ how can you not feel fancy when youā€™re gliding through the countryside in a carriage, adorned with delicate floral wallpaper? I truly believe a good train journey is one of lifeā€™s great pleasures. Of course, no trip is complete without a stop-off for a delicious afternoon tea! The perfect blend of tea and pastries, accompanied by a dainty cake, is my perfect recipe for a stress-free, travel-worthy treat.

And when I say a delightful train ride, I donā€™t just mean the fancy carriages. I'm talking about the pony carriage adventure I took in the centre of Prague!

Imagine this, lovelies: the golden afternoon sun gently warming your skin as you glide through the streets of Prague, drawn by a beautiful white pony. With my trusty pink tutu swirling around me, I felt like Iā€™d stepped straight out of a fairytale. Oh, the charm! The beauty! This is why, darling, you absolutely must try pony carriage rides in Prague, especially on a day like today when the air smells like freshly baked pastries and jasmine blooms.

Oh, and the fashion?! Prague's shops have me giddy! I just can't help myself when I see the colourful, ornate, traditional Bohemian outfits! And itā€™s no surprise, these outfits were the perfect inspiration for some of my new favourite tutus!

The stores, darling, were bursting with vintage designs ā€“ some more outrageous, some more delicate, but all so stunningly romantic, feminine, and oh-so-pink. And I simply couldnā€™t resist snagging a few new beauties ā€“ you know how much I love my pink! They will look incredible for the performance Iā€™m doing at the National Theatre on Saturday, which, by the way, I have just found out is the first time ballet has ever been performed here! What a privilege!

But before I can start to spin, there's one thing that must be addressed:

Tutus and Prague: A Perfect Partnership

Of course, the heart and soul of my travels lies in exploring the beautiful and romantic world of ballet. And letā€™s face it, lovelies, there's nothing quite like the captivating history of the graceful twirl.

The story of tutus is interwoven with the history of ballet itself, darling! You can trace it back through the centuries to the early romantic period in the early 1800s.

Back then, you might not even recognize a tutu! There was a lot of emphasis on flowing and dramatic skirt silhouettes and the ā€œRoman-era tunicā€ with ā€œan array of draperies and layers" of fine tulle was what graced the stage in the early 19th century. Then, things changed ā€“ the tutus evolved ā€“ from floor-length layers of tulle to the much-loved short ā€œpancake tutuā€ we know and adore today! This elegant and timeless design was conceived and made for the Paris Operaā€™s La Sylphide, first performed in 1832!

Just think about it, darling: when these exquisite garments debuted, people had never seen anything like it! Can you imagine the excitement in the air, the hushed anticipation as the curtain rose to reveal that sparkling and airy image of beauty in their most celebrated dance?

Speaking of beauty and anticipation, this brings us to today ā€“ the glorious 1st of May in Prague! And that brings us back to this magnificent performance! Iā€™m getting goosebumps just thinking about it!

Tonight, at the National Theatre thereā€™s a performance of "Giselle"! A must-see classic featuring beautiful, graceful costumes and choreography. What more could a pink tutu enthusiast ask for? Oh, I am absolutely bursting with excitement and the chance to see this masterpiece performed live. I already bought tickets for the show last week - theyā€™re very popular, you know, and if you don't book your ticket well in advance, you might miss the spectacle!

But beyond just the beauty and grace, ā€œGiselleā€ offers a story of love, loss, and betrayal - all within a beautiful dance. That is why, darling, this is my most anticipated part of the entire trip: not just watching the incredible performances, but understanding the rich tapestry of history and artistic expression that is intertwined with this elegant and iconic art form!

Of course, Prague offers more than just breathtaking ballet performances! There are numerous workshops for those who wish to hone their skills and embrace the magic of dance. I plan to sign up for one tomorrow. Letā€™s just say my little pink tutu needs a bit of a workout.

But letā€™s be honest, dear reader, this wouldnā€™t be a trip without some much-needed pampering, now would it?

Pink Glamour in Prague

Tomorrow afternoon, Iā€™m off to a local shop that specialises in all things girly and pink, to pick out some gorgeous vintage pieces to complement my outfits. From pastel-pink lace dresses to charming little bonnets and floral patterned scarves, this shop offers some of the most darling designs that are perfect for a princess in training like myself.

Imagine it, darling, delicate, romantic clothes, all in lovely pink hues that perfectly complement the historic charm of the city, creating a blend of contemporary style with timeless elegance! You simply must find a vintage shop when you come to Prague. Thereā€™s just something about those delicate prints and romantic styles.

But my dearest, itā€™s late and my little pink tutu is starting to grow weary! After a long day of shopping and exploring the beautiful city, itā€™s time to catch up on my diary entries and prepare for tonightā€™s exciting performance at the National Theatre.

Join me again next week, darling, as I continue my adventures in Prague and share more tales of my pink tutu adventures. And remember, until then, dance like nobody's watching, twirl with confidence, and may your life always be bursting with the delightful shades of pink!
