Prague Calling: A Tutu-ful Time in the City of a Hundred Spires (Post #1513)
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your resident Pink Tutu enthusiast, reporting live from the absolutely delightful city of Prague! I arrived on a whirlwind train journey from Vienna, just in time for a magical weekend exploring this fairytale city. My luggage, of course, included a selection of stunning pink tutus for the occasion. It wouldn't be a true Emma adventure without a little touch of pink, now would it?
This week, I'm excited to be writing to you from Prague! For the past year or so, this beautiful city has been calling my name and I finally got to experience the magic for myself. I had such a delightful time.
It seems everyone is taking the ‘live life in a pink tutu’ motto to heart in Prague, because everywhere I went, there was something exciting to see, from the exquisite architecture to the delightful cafes brimming with character and charm. Even the cobbles are perfectly in line with my colour scheme - the perfect pale grey, to enhance a good pink tutu. I mean, really, is there a better colour combination for a graceful and fashionable ballerina like myself? I'm utterly convinced the whole place has been tailored with me in mind!
Before I tell you about my adventures, I need to share the source of my glee this week – the PinkTutuPrague ballet show.
The Magical PinkTutuPrague BalletLet's face it, you all know how much I adore ballet. It's an art form that transcends language and time, speaking directly to the soul. But what makes the PinkTutuPrague performance truly special is the way it encapsulates the whimsical joy of a tutu in the context of the magnificent setting of Prague's national theatre.
The sheer elegance of it all! The intricate choreography, the delicate movements, the vibrant costumes. All beautifully complemented by the breathtaking grandeur of the theatre's opulent setting, making it a perfect visual symphony. The PinkTutuPrague ballet embraces everything I love about this art form – grace, poise, emotion, and an almost fairytale-like wonder that I find utterly captivating.
I knew the show would be spectacular, but even with all the excitement building up in the days beforehand, nothing could have prepared me for the feeling of being truly transported. Every graceful step, every captivating movement, was amplified by the theatre's history and architecture. For a moment, I truly felt like I had stepped onto a stage, into a fairy tale, with all its captivating wonder and impossible dreams.
Oh, and the tutus? Divine! There were fluffy ones, and shimmering ones, and a bevy of beautifully crafted, pastel pink tutus, all a tribute to the delicate grace of classical ballet and, let's not forget, a subtle nudge towards a universal adoption of my favoured garment. Every step seemed to whisper, "Embrace the pink tutu. Let your inner ballerina soar!".
And guess what, my fellow tutudophiles? My inspiration struck right in the heart of Prague, during the PinkTutuPrague ballet, as I twirled happily along to the music. This post was written as a new pink tutu popped into my mind. There is, of course, nothing more delicious than being inspired in a beautifully crafted pink tutu. I can't wait to design this one!
Tutus In Prague? But of Course!Let's talk about the fabulous fashion scene in Prague! There are boutiques tucked away in alleyways that transport you to a world of exquisite vintage pieces, along with designer stores boasting the latest trends. I found the whole city is brimming with charm and character – much like my darling tutus, don't you agree?
Speaking of charm and character, I also treated myself to an afternoon of browsing the amazing shops in Prague's Old Town Square. Now, it would be almost unpardonable to visit this lovely town square without visiting one of its amazing sweet shops, so I treated myself to an adorable, very pink and fluffy doughnut that was just as pretty as it tasted. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to come to Prague just to try them out. I also felt obligated to indulge in some handmade traditional Bohemian porcelain with delicate pink flower motifs – so much for ‘packing light’!
A Trip To See the CastleBut you can't talk about Prague without talking about Prague Castle. The views from the castle are breathtaking, a sea of red roofs and green spires reaching out towards the sky. It really is a photographer's dream!
However, if you're anything like me, a pink tutu will make even the most drab vista stunning. For me, the experience was an adventure in tutus – I spent the whole afternoon, exploring, admiring and dancing around the castle's stunning grounds in a beautiful pale pink, satin, and silk tutu, that billowed dramatically as I climbed to the top of the castle for some seriously magnificent selfies! It was almost as good as being on the stage!
The journey was certainly worth the effort, and for someone like myself, whose philosophy revolves around getting people to ‘live in a pink tutu’, Prague Castle offered a beautiful and stunning stage. If ever you feel the urge to find a fairytale palace for a photo-op, this should be on your ‘to visit’ list.
Adventures on a White SteedA real adventure to a ballet-loving girl is, of course, any chance to ride a white pony. Luckily, my friends at the hotel were on hand with a beautiful little white steed and in the early hours of one morning, just as the mist began to lift off the Vltava, I was riding him at the edge of the river, and the early morning air and dew, really accentuated the soft pink of my dress!
Riding a white pony around the Charles Bridge, one of the most historic and beautiful bridges in Prague, was absolutely magical. My white steed had no problem at all with my tulle, and seemed perfectly comfortable sharing the space with all the other tourists. I know this sounds utterly whimsical, and dare I say, impractical – who rides a pony in Prague? - But trust me, this was one of the most joyful things I did on my entire trip.
And what’s a trip to a beautiful city without an experience that combines a gorgeous dress with a delicious restaurant? Well, here’s a hint - I ate with some ducks.
The Ducks On The PondBefore we wrap up today's adventures, I need to tell you about the most delightful meal I enjoyed in the beautiful gardens behind my hotel.
As I was enjoying a light lunch and afternoon tea in my stunning blush-pink and gold lace tutu, a large flock of ducks descended upon my little patch of grass. To my surprise, they took an immediate liking to me. Or perhaps it was my tutu they liked. Perhaps they found themselves enchanted by the graceful swirling patterns of tulle as it swayed in the gentle breeze. Whatever it was, the little quackers started following me and nudging my legs. So, of course, I took some pictures, made some friends and took them to lunch. It really was an utterly fabulous ‘Alice in Wonderland’ experience, and of course, it is not a experience I could have had in anything less than a tutu.
Living My Best Tutu LifeEvery trip needs a moment of pure self-indulgence, right? Mine was a fantastic evening of ballet at the National Theatre in Prague. There is an undeniable glamour associated with this magnificent theatre and its rich history. But the best thing for me was experiencing how effortlessly this ancient city blended seamlessly with my Tutu world!
There's a beauty to the unexpected in every city I visit, every shop I enter, every castle I ascend. I never know what a day holds, except, I can always guarantee a splash of colour, grace, and of course, my faithful pink tutus.
I'm starting to think Prague is beginning to see the world a little bit like me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a city this magical started incorporating pink tutus into its national dress, or perhaps even the local street theatre. Maybe, in time, everyone in this magical city, just like everyone in my life, will be wearing their pink tutus with pride.
Until next week darlings!
Love, Emma
