Prague Dreams: A Pink Tutu Adventure (Blog Post #1514)
Bonjour, my lovelies! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the magical city of Prague. This week, we're swapping the Derbyshire countryside for cobbled streets, medieval squares, and… PINK TUTUS, of course! As you know, my mission in life is to spread the pink tutu joy far and wide, and Prague is the perfect playground for this little dream.
Let me paint you a picture. Sunbeams dancing on golden spires, a cafe table with a cappuccino warming my fingertips, the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked pastry, and, of course, me, perfectly styled in my signature pink tutu, ready to take on the wonders of this stunning city!
Pink Tutu in Prague? Oh yes! You see, I believe in adding a touch of whimsy and sparkle to any adventure. And what better way to celebrate Prague's historic grandeur than with a splash of my favourite colour? It’s not everyday you see a pink tutu dancing through the ancient streets!
Now, this week's post is all about ballet! Yes, I'm diving deep into the enchanting world of Prague's ballet scene!
My Ballet Journey: This city, my dears, is teeming with ballet history. I've just finished an enthralling guided tour of the magnificent National Theatre (or Národní Divadlo, in Czech!), and let me tell you, this place has stories to tell. The very walls are whispering about legendary dancers, and the air is buzzing with creative energy. It was a real highlight for me to walk where so many talented dancers have graced the stage, it made my own little heart flutter!
But it wasn’t just about the history. * The Prague Ballet Company is known for their exceptional performances. This week, we’re all about a production of *"Giselle" which, as every ballet buff knows, is a masterpiece of storytelling, emotion, and sheer elegance.
And did you know? *Prague has a special relationship with "Giselle" ! * The ballet premiered here back in 1846, a mere five years after its debut in Paris!
Fashion Spotlight: Now, I just HAD to pick a tutu for the occasion! This is what I've been sporting in Prague this week: a full-length tutu made of exquisite soft tulle, delicately embellished with tiny pink sequins. The soft blush hue complemented my fair skin perfectly, and the flowing skirt looked divine as I wandered through the city's narrow, picturesque streets. A touch of fairytale magic, wouldn't you say?
*On my Feet: * My shoes, naturally, had to be pink as well! I chose a pair of sleek, pink ballet pumps with delicate lace detailing. And a pink straw hat with a floral embellishment? Absolutely essential for a touch of whimsy and a touch of shade!
Prague: The Pink Tutu Playground
But, you know me, I like to blend my passion for ballet with a little fashion and a whole lot of fun!
Prague was a truly inspiring place. Every turn revealed a hidden gem - a pastel-hued building, a lively market brimming with crafts, or a quiet corner café perfect for indulging in a warm slice of apple strudel! And did I tell you about the beautiful architecture? Those stained glass windows and ornate towers! I felt like I'd stepped into a fairytale. And the pink tutus certainly added to that feeling of magical delight!
I'm finding so much inspiration for my future performances here!
Fun Fact: Prague is famous for its quirky "Dancing House". A very unique piece of architecture and a brilliant place for a photo op!
Travel Tales
You're wondering how I managed to get here, right? Well, naturally I had to take a journey worthy of the occasion! My first mode of transportation? A stunningly beautiful steam engine train, chugging its way through rolling countryside, where green meadows dotted with red poppies melted away the stresses of city life. The rhythm of the train, the gentle rocking, it felt so peaceful and relaxing!
For the last part of the journey, I opted for a more adventurous means of getting to Prague… * a pony ride! * Yes, you read that correctly! It was absolutely charming! The pony, aptly named "Twinkle," took me through leafy woodland trails, allowing me to soak in the crisp air and experience the beauty of the Czech landscape. Just picture it! Me, in my pink tutu, atop a charming pony, surrounded by the serenity of nature. Could it be any more idyllic?
What I loved about Prague
It was a blend of vibrant life and historical charm, with a little bit of whimsy thrown in for good measure. The Czech people were friendly, the food delicious, and the air buzzed with a playful energy. It made me think that this would be an amazing place for ballet themed fun, the setting for my next ballet-inspired adventure!
So, here are some of the highlights I think you will love:
- The Charles Bridge: Crossing the bridge at sunset, as the golden hues painted the Vltava River, was a truly breathtaking moment. The bridge is filled with street performers, artisans, and a real sense of the historic pulse of the city.
- The Old Town Square: The heart of Prague. This vibrant plaza with the iconic Astronomical Clock is a hub of activity and history, the perfect setting for a street ballet performance!
*The "Dancing House": * An architectural marvel I loved! It’s an absolute delight to behold, an abstract swirl of color and form. If I was planning my next ballet performance, this would be my stage!
Travel tips:
- Wear comfortable shoes - Prague is a city best explored on foot, as the narrow cobbled streets are charming but can be challenging to navigate with heels!
- Pack for all kinds of weather - Prague's weather can change quickly, so being prepared with both a jacket and some sun cream is a good idea!
- Don't miss the Prague Castle - A majestic, towering structure offering panoramic views, it’s an unmissable Prague landmark!
I’ll be back, Prague! I already have plans for my next trip back, as this city captured my heart and became a permanent fixture in my pink tutu-wearing travels!
