Prague, my Pink Tutu Paradise - Post #1525
Hello my lovely pink-tutu-loving friends!
It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means - a brand new post from your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, landing straight in your inbox from the magical city of Prague! I’ve been having the most fabulous time exploring this fairytale city, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
But first, let's get those dancing feet ready for our little trip, shall we? My current outfit? You guessed it - my favourite hot pink tutu with its glittery hem, a fluffy white cardigan for those chilly Prague evenings (they’re certainly different to Derbyshire!), a pastel pink beret with a charmingly crooked angle, and my trusty pink-and-white ballet flats. As always, it’s a perfect match for this pink-obsessed ballet girl!
This week I've been ticking all the boxes on my “Things To Do In Prague” list – let me give you a little glimpse!
A Royal Ballet Experience at the Estates TheatreToday was the big day – a performance at the glorious Estates Theatre (or Stavovské Divadlo)! I was absolutely buzzing to finally see this historic theatre, the birthplace of the world-famous opera The Marriage of Figaro! The theatre is an absolute stunner, adorned with plush red velvet, glittering chandeliers, and stunning painted ceilings – so glamorous! And as an extra treat, tonight was a ballet performance!
I had been eyeing up the programme for weeks, waiting with baited breath for tonight. And I wasn’t disappointed! It was an exquisite classical ballet performance, and even though the programme was in Czech, the emotions danced on the stage and reached out to me across the language barrier. Every arabesque, every plié, and every jeté told its own story!
The dancers were amazing. Such grace, such power, and such expression in every single movement! I'd never seen anything like it. And to make it even more special, the final bow had the entire cast decked out in pink tutus! Oh my, it was a true tutu wonderland. The whole theatre buzzed with excitement and applause – what a night!
Afterwards, we (yes, we! I took my ballet bestie Chloe on this trip) enjoyed some delicious local Czech cuisine, the hearty goulash warming our bellies and filling us with joy! There's something special about celebrating a great show with good company and yummy food – the perfect blend of artistic and gastronomic pleasure.
Prague’s Pink PalaceSince the Estate Theatre is on a tiny side street near Prague Castle, we walked, soaking in the beauty of Prague's charming old streets. You can't beat walking around a city and just exploring its hidden treasures – just like a ballerina searching for the perfect pair of ballet shoes!
Now, anyone who knows me knows I'm absolutely besotted with pink, so you can imagine my delight at discovering The Pink Palace - a truly pink wonderland nestled amongst Prague’s iconic houses!
Imagine: walls adorned in pink and a little boutique selling tutus, ballet slippers, and accessories galore! A pink-lover's dream, honestly. Of course, I couldn't resist snagging a delicate pink tulle hair scarf to match my baby pink tutu. The shopkeeper was absolutely delightful, sharing stories of her own love for pink tutus, and how they inspire her designs.
But my pink journey didn’t end there. Later, we popped into the nearby Pink Cafe! The most fabulous cafe you can imagine! We indulged in strawberry pancakes (of course, pink!) and pink lemonade. Honestly, everything, everything was pink – pink walls, pink furniture, pink cutlery, even the cakes were decorated in shades of pink. If you’re looking for a sweet escape in Prague, the Pink Cafe is a must!
A Day Trip by Train - Beyond PragueOur love of pink took us further afield. On Thursday we took a day trip to Kutná Hora. But instead of a boring old coach, we went by train! Such an exciting adventure, particularly when we ended up sitting next to a couple on their honeymoon dressed as if they had walked straight from a traditional Czech folk-dance performance!
Kutná Hora is known for its historic mining history and UNESCO-listed Sedlec Ossuary, the iconic bone church, and of course, for its many beautiful cathedrals. But there’s a much lesser known secret gem tucked away in this picturesque town - The Pink Dress Boutique. This is not just any dress boutique, darling – this is a paradise for ballerinas and tutu enthusiasts.
With its charming, pastel pink exterior, and rows and rows of gorgeous tutus in every colour of the rainbow, it is impossible not to feel like a little girl dancing on cloud nine in this charming shop. I, of course, had to buy a sparkly lavender tutu to add to my ever-growing collection. I can already picture the twirls!
I’m already dreaming of my next adventure – who knows where my ballet shoes will take me next? It's impossible not to feel inspired by the magic of ballet, the charm of Prague, and the sheer joy of discovering hidden treasures around every corner!
Don't forget to follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com, and see you next week for more tutu adventures!
With pink and fluffy love,
Emma xx
