Prague in Pink, Post #1543: A Tutu-tiful New Year in the City of a Hundred Spires!
Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, reporting live from the most magical city in Europe: Prague! Yes, I’ve swapped my Derbyshire Dales for cobbled streets and towering spires, and let me tell you, the excitement is practically giving me a pirouette! It’s a New Year’s Day, the snow is falling like feathers, and Prague is glistening like a jewel box – oh, the beauty!
This week, I’ve been embracing all things Prague, from exploring hidden corners to sipping hot chocolate in quaint cafes (and yes, of course, I wore my pink tutu to all of it! What else would I wear? It's simply a wardrobe staple, darling.) This trip, though, is all about ballet! I've got tickets to see Swan Lake at the National Theatre and let me tell you, my excitement is reaching 'pointe' levels! I’ve always adored Tchaikovsky's music and there’s nothing more elegant and graceful than ballet – especially in the stunning setting of Prague's historic theatre.
Before I tell you about the ballet, I just have to share a little something about my journey. You know me – I'm all about taking the scenic route, so of course, I arrived by train! The journey from Derbyshire to Prague was like a scene out of a fairytale, with the snow swirling past the windows and the countryside covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The landscape shifted so dramatically: the rolling hills of Derbyshire morphed into forests and valleys that could only be dreamed up by a poet.
And to really make the trip extra special, I travelled the last leg by pony! I had such fun trotting through the snowy Prague streets, feeling like a proper fairytale princess! It was a little chilly, so my new pink fur-trimmed coat came in very handy – all part of keeping the glam factor high, even on a pony ride!
But let’s talk ballet, shall we? My obsession with this graceful art form goes back as far as I can remember. My parents have told me that, even as a toddler, I used to twirl around in the living room, my little pink tutu-like skirt billowing behind me. It was inevitable, really. You know how some children dream of being doctors, or firefighters? Well, I dreamed of dancing my heart out on a grand stage in a glorious pink tutu. And as a ballerina blogger, it feels amazing to live that dream and to help bring a bit of that magical world to everyone, too!
This whole week in Prague has been a whirlwind of excitement. From strolling through Old Town Square to catching a street performance by an amazing ballet troupe (they were all dressed in pink tutus! – how divine!), there’s no doubt this city has something for everyone.
But Prague's allure extends beyond the tourist spots. My research has shown that the city has a rich ballet history, with roots that go back centuries. It’s just thrilling for a ballet aficionado like myself to soak up this history, whether it's admiring the ornate architecture of the National Theatre, or simply losing myself in a well-researched book on Czech ballet.
You wouldn't believe the treasures I found tucked away in a tiny antique shop – a delicate, porcelain ballerina from the late 19th century. It's exquisite! My hunt for unique and glamorous souvenirs always leads me to the most unexpected places! This time, I even found a delightful little cafe tucked away in a quiet cobblestone street – the kind that could easily pass for a hidden haven in a fairy tale!
But what truly stole my heart this week was the sheer variety of beautiful pink tutus I found on sale. Oh, the shopping! There are endless boutiques and shops bursting with fabulous fashions, each more stylish and unique than the last. You’d think I was in a fashion heaven, because trust me, I’ve been in heaven! It's an absolute dream, let me tell you! I've already filled half of my suitcase with beautiful pink tutus for all my future performances and blog shoots – all of which you’ll be seeing very soon on my website, of course!
Tonight, however, is all about Swan Lake! My heart is aflutter with anticipation. I can already picture the delicate movements of the swans, their ethereal grace captivating the audience. It will be breathtakingly beautiful! I just know I'm going to be swept away by the magic and the emotion of the performance.
Before I go, I have to ask: who here is thinking of rocking a pink tutu today? Don’t be shy – I guarantee a little pink tutu magic will brighten anyone’s day! And just to make things a little more exciting, I’m giving away a limited-edition Pink Tutu Prague postcard to three lucky readers! Simply head over to www.pink-tutu.com and leave a comment telling me why you love ballet or why you’d rock a pink tutu. The three most inspiring entries win!
Until next week, my dears, stay stylish and always remember to bring a touch of pink magic to your everyday! And remember, every day can be a perfect opportunity to channel your inner ballerina and wear that pink tutu with pride!
Happy tutuing!
