Hello, darling tutu-lovers! It's Emma from Pink-Tutu.com, back with another week's adventures, this time from the enchanting city of Prague. This city has captured my heart, with its cobbled streets, grand architecture, and even a smattering of gothic vibes - which just scream "fairytale ballet," don't you think?
As always, I'm channeling my inner prima ballerina - which is all the time, to be honest! - in a delightfully vibrant fuchsia pink tutu that I picked up in a charming shop in London's Covent Garden. This city, much like my tutus, seems to be steeped in history, but that history doesn't feel stuffy or intimidating at all. It just makes me feel like I'm part of something magical.
This week, I've been exploring Prague like a whirlwind of twirls, a blur of pink tulle, and a splash of joyful chatter - always with my tutu by my side, naturally! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without it! And believe me, darling, this trip hasn't disappointed!
Ballet in PragueI'm always on the lookout for exquisite ballet performances - after all, ballet and pink tutus are a match made in heaven! And Prague didn't disappoint in the slightest. Last night, I went to the National Theatre - oh, it was truly grand, with chandeliers that glittered like stars and the most ornate velvet seating - you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped into a fairytale! The National Theatre Ballet was putting on a dazzling production of "La Bayadere" - what a story of love, loss, and reincarnation! I was transported! The dancers were incredibly graceful and expressive, and I was captivated by the choreography and the opulent sets.
As I sat in the auditorium, I felt a wave of warmth wash over me, remembering why I began this blog journey. It's about sharing the love for ballet, celebrating all things dance, and bringing a little bit of tutus-tastic sparkle into your world.
And to all those tutus out there who haven't tried out the wonders of a live performance - I urge you, darlings, to put on your finest pink tulle and go explore!
A Bit of Prague ShoppingAfter the performance, I couldn't resist the allure of Prague's cobblestone streets and charming little shops. You wouldn't believe the treasure I found!
In a small, hidden shop on Cerna Street I discovered a little Parisian-esque boutique full of exquisite vintage items - you know, those gorgeous dresses that look like they've been plucked from the golden era of dance. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a gorgeous pastel pink satin dress, just perfect for my next ballet performance! It fit like a dream!
Let's just say, it was definitely a shopper's paradise. I picked up a few delicate rose-patterned tights and a pretty embroidered cotton dress that just screams spring, and I had to have it. Because it just would be a little rude, don't you think, to come all the way to Prague and not indulge in some retail therapy?
Finding Those Pink Tutu GemsEvery day, I get a little bit more enchanted by this beautiful city. Today, after indulging in some divine local pastries and a strong cup of Viennese coffee, I took a wander to the Old Town Square. Oh, the architecture, the stunning architecture, with all those pastel colours, it feels like a painted postcard!
But even in the bustling heart of the city, I managed to discover a hidden gem of a little bookstore. In amongst all the classic books, I discovered the most amazing antique collection of tutus! There were tutus from the Romantic era - such dainty details, it's unbelievable. And tutus from the Classical era - think beautiful, think delicate, think tutu-dreams. But it wasn't just about tutus, darlings! The shop also had all sorts of fantastic old ballet paraphernalia - vintage ballet shoes, ballet music sheets, programmes from the 1930s. I've been known to spend a little time researching the history of tutus.
The lovely owner, who was also a ballerina many moons ago, had a whole drawer of faded programmes and pamphlets from every production ever staged in the city. We got to chatting about ballet history, and she shared the most amazing stories about the National Theatre and its colourful history. Apparently, back in the day, it was a favourite spot for some of the biggest ballerinas of their time - all of which only fuelled my love for ballet, I must confess.
### The Pink Tutu Pilgrimage
You know me, darling - always a sucker for anything pretty! So when I discovered the beautiful Petrin Hill, I couldn't resist a little pony ride. What better way to take in the incredible panoramic views than on the back of a gorgeous, well-behaved pony with a big pink flower on its head? Very fairytale-esque, I must say! The breeze was refreshing, the scenery was breathtaking, and it felt incredibly liberating.
And honestly, darling, I might just start riding ponies. It's another little detail of this beautiful city that's just... charming! And to think, in the Victorian era, all the upper-class women rode ponies like this to their ballet lessons in tutus. Imagine the picture - I am just in love!
But here I am, dear friends, already getting swept away in the romantic notions of this gorgeous city. As much as I love the beauty of Prague, what I really love is the feeling it gives me - a feeling of excitement, inspiration, and the joy of simply being in the moment!
And so, I shall bid you adieu for now, my dearest readers. As always, don't forget to join me for my next Pink Tutu Adventures - and, of course, don't forget to www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday, darling!
Stay pretty!
Until next week!Love, Emma xxx
