Hello my darlings! I'm writing this from my stunning hotel room in Prague, and let me tell you, the city is positively magical! It's all cobbled streets, fairytale architecture, and a vibrant cultural buzz that makes my heart sing. And let’s be honest, I’m always singing about tutus!
Today was my first proper day exploring Prague, and I started it in the best possible way – a ballet class! I've been trying to incorporate a little bit of exercise into my travels. I've found that ballet keeps me nimble and supple. I mean, who can resist those graceful plies and delicate port de bras?
My little dance studio was tucked away in a cobblestone courtyard. It was all brickwork, faded paint and charm, and the air was thick with the scent of polish and pine. After an invigorating session, I treated myself to a gorgeous cinnamon bun – a perfect pre-shopping treat.
And talking about treats... the shops here are an absolute delight! Prague seems to have a vintage store on every corner. And as you can imagine, I couldn’t resist diving into their delightful displays. I snagged a gorgeous, mint-green silk scarf with delicate beading and an incredible feather boa – absolutely perfect for a glamorous evening out.
Speaking of evenings out… tonight is the main event – a ballet performance at the National Theatre. I’m going to be in the audience, cheering for a group of fabulous young dancers showcasing a stunning interpretation of "The Nutcracker."
Speaking of The Nutcracker… it has an extraordinary history and is arguably the most famous and well-loved ballet around the globe, enjoyed by families for generations. Of course, you're familiar with the sugarplum fairies, Clara's magical adventure, and of course, the dreamy dancing snowflakes. But did you know that the very first production was in 1892? How’s that for iconic? I’m utterly captivated by ballet's past. It’s such a fascinating world, so full of rich traditions and history. I think there’s an incredible story to be told about tutus! The fabric, the shape, the design, how it all evolved through history… I feel like it’s just the tip of the iceberg. And honestly, there’s no more delightful, inspiring, and enchanting garment in the world.
After all, where else can you get the combination of graceful swishing movement and pure feminine glamour? I can see why tutus remain so iconic – they embody a spirit of confidence, grace, and boundless possibilities, and I hope to spread this passion across the world! Imagine – a world where everyone dons a tutu, embracing the fun and freedom that comes with it!
I’m already dreaming of my new tutu…perhaps a deep ruby red? Or maybe a rich plum shade for winter? It must have the perfect layers, just a touch of tulle and the most amazing, elaborate skirt.
Back to my trip – tomorrow I plan to delve into the Old Town, wander through the Prague Castle, and try a delicious traditional Czech lunch. You just know I'll be snapping pics to post on my social media so you can join me on this amazing journey!

A Day of Whimsy and Dance in Prague
Today was my first proper day exploring Prague, and I started it in the best possible way – a ballet class! I've been trying to incorporate a little bit of exercise into my travels. I've found that ballet keeps me nimble and supple. I mean, who can resist those graceful plies and delicate port de bras?
Finding a Dance Home in Prague
My little dance studio was tucked away in a cobblestone courtyard. It was all brickwork, faded paint and charm, and the air was thick with the scent of polish and pine. I'd stumbled upon this gem during a walk through the narrow alleys of the Old Town. You know, those winding, enchanting lanes that whisper tales of centuries past, with shops crammed with trinkets and curiosities. There I found a little door adorned with faded posters, tucked beneath the canopy of a sycamore tree. It was just my kind of secret oasis. It felt so good to feel my muscles loosen and stretch, the feeling of those elegant leaps… I think I fell a little in love with that quaint studio!
Sugar-Kissed Treats and Shopping Delights
After an invigorating session, I treated myself to a gorgeous cinnamon bun – a perfect pre-shopping treat. It was divine - a cloud of cinnamon sugar nestled in the fluffiest, warmest dough. Honestly, even a tiny sliver of cinnamon bun just transports me back to the heart of Vienna and the dreamy cafe culture of my European childhood! It was the perfect pick-me-up before I dived into the world of Prague’s shops!

And as you can imagine, I couldn’t resist diving into their delightful displays. One store, tucked in a hidden corner, had the most beautiful antique frames filled with framed fabric samples from ballet productions from the past! Can you imagine? A symphony of colours from silk and tulle! My fingers brushed against satin, chiffon and velvet! It felt like the fabrics whispered forgotten stories of elegance and magic, bringing to life the artistry of bygone ballets.
Tonight's Spectacular: "The Nutcracker" at the National Theatre

Imagine, shimmering fabrics billowing and swirling in the theatre's light.
