Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Dream Come True! (Post #1649)

Bonjour mes chéries! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back from the enchanting streets of Prague. This city, with its cobblestones, gothic spires and romantic atmosphere, was made for a tutu twirling adventure.

Last Wednesday, my pink tutu was on a train, ahem, I was, chugging my way to Prague. Train travel is one of my favourite things. It gives me time to lose myself in a good ballet book, dream up future dance routines, or sketch out tutu designs for my next masterpiece. This time, I was even lucky enough to share the carriage with a charming gentleman who looked suspiciously like a dancer himself – we even chatted about the famous Prague National Theatre, my destination for tonight’s ballet show!

Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, truly is a vision in pink, which is, of course, my absolute favourite colour! You can’t move a step without bumping into a delightful pink cafe, a pink-tinged street lamp, or even a little pink dog wearing a sparkly pink collar!

But this time, I wasn't just here to take in the gorgeous scenery; I was here for the ultimate treat – to experience a ballet show at the legendary Prague National Theatre! My dear readers, you just wouldn't believe the splendour of this venue! The architecture is breathtaking, with gilded columns and swirling velvet curtains. It felt as if I had stepped right into a ballet performance from the 19th century – and I loved it!

The programme included a performance of Tchaikovsky’s iconic Swan Lake, which was even more beautiful than I had ever imagined. The dancers, so light on their feet, their movements so graceful, their costumes... oh, the costumes! Such glorious colours, intricate detail, a breathtaking combination of tradition and innovation. My dear, my little pink tutu felt like it had nothing on these masterpieces of craftsmanship!

It's not every day that one gets to be a ballerina in a ballet-obsessed city like Prague! The sheer history of dance, of ballet, is literally in the very air. Even walking along the Charles Bridge, with the iconic Charles Bridge dancers, or catching a performance at the Laterna Magika Theatre felt like being a part of ballet history itself.

Speaking of ballet history, I discovered a fabulous vintage clothing store that specializes in vintage ballet costumes! Can you believe it? It felt like I had stumbled onto a secret treasure trove. I tried on some beautiful, vintage tutus from the early 20th century. It's amazing how even those early designs had such an elegant feel to them! Maybe I can borrow some inspiration for my own designs, one of these days...

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without a bit of shopping. This city is a haven for all things fashion. From vintage treasures to cutting-edge designers, the shopping possibilities are endless. I found a pair of beautiful ballet flats that are perfect for twirling, and a pair of exquisite silver earrings with tiny ballerinas dangling from them, perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to my outfits!

As always, I couldn't resist stopping at the local cafe, and what did I find, but a delightful cup of pink lemonade and a slice of pink-frosted cake! I had to, of course! It simply made my day, and the perfect excuse to get in touch with my inner ballerina with a little bit of spontaneous pirouette and arabesque practice at my little pink table, surrounded by laughter and smiles, I am not sure who was smiling wider – me, the cafe staff or the charming gentlemen sitting at the next table who stopped what they were doing to look up and clap! I swear, my darling, pink just brings everyone together.

Speaking of pink, the last thing on my pink-tutu-ed mind was to find a good tutu shop. This quest led me through charming cobbled streets, across romantic bridges, and finally, into a charming little boutique called "Dancing Dreams". Now this was truly the most wonderful shop I'd ever been to – not just for tutus, mind you, though it did have some of the most breathtaking tutus, perfect for every type of ballerina – but for a true insight into the magical world of the ballet dancer. I discovered handmade tutus, made from the most incredible materials like satin, tulle, and even velvet!

And there, my dears, is the magic of it all! The passion and dedication that every ballerina puts into their craft - it simply shines through, be it on the grand stage, a charming local cafe or a charming boutique like the Dancing Dreams shop. There was an air of enchantment there that made me feel like anything was possible, that even the most challenging pirouette could be a beautiful dance! And even as I wrote my Prague post on a bench in the beautiful Kampa Park with a cup of hot chocolate, the feeling of that pink magic just refused to leave.

So, there you have it, my darlings – Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, truly is a ballerina's dream. I left with a pink tutu full of memories, ready to bring some Prague magic back to Derbyshire. My aim, you see, is to get everyone wearing pink tutus, not just me!

Until next Wednesday, when I'll be back with another magical post from another dreamy destination, keep dancing!

Yours truly,

Emma (The Pink Tutu Blogger)

P.S. Do you know what else is magical about Prague? It’s a city where the horses can ride! I discovered this while exploring the Petrin Hill and seeing the miniature replica of the Eiffel Tower! This time, I actually chose a different method of travel and I opted for a magical ride through the historic city center – a beautiful white pony! It felt so incredibly magical to be travelling by pony through the charming cobbled streets.
