From Derbyshire to Prague: A Journey in Pink
This trip to Prague marks my first time venturing beyond the beautiful borders of England. After a rather lovely train journey across Europe, where I enjoyed a delicious pink strawberry milkshake (it even came with a cute little pink straw!), I found myself captivated by Prague's stunning architecture and enchanting atmosphere. Every corner I turned, I was greeted by something beautiful: majestic bridges, charming cobbled streets, and cafes brimming with laughter and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
My heart truly skipped a beat though when I saw my temporary home: a quaint hotel with a whimsical pink door, perfectly matching my suitcase – adorned with a vintage ballet poster I picked up in a flea market in Paris last month. (It's a classic: "La Fille Mal Gardée" with a ballerina looking positively glamorous in her pink tutu!)
Dancing My Way Through Prague
The beauty of travelling with my ballet life in tow is the magical encounters I make along the way. I already discovered a charming dance studio tucked away in a side street, where I joined a local class – all in pink, naturally! It felt fantastic to feel the wood floor under my feet, and hear the joyous rhythm of Prague resonating with the movement of my own pink-clad form.
But what was truly extraordinary was a street performance I witnessed outside the National Theatre. A young man was dancing with an exuberance that lit up the cobblestones. He had a captivating presence, and while his attire wasn’t quite as glamorous as my preferred pink tutu, there was a heartfelt sincerity in his dance that resonated deep within my ballet-loving soul.
A Ballet Feast at The National Theatre
And then came the main event – the very reason I planned this trip: "Swan Lake" at the prestigious National Theatre! To see a classic ballet performed with such passion and finesse in a setting as awe-inspiring as Prague was simply magical. The opulent theatre, the dazzling costumes (though not all pink, unfortunately!), and the spellbinding performances left me breathless. I spent the entire evening lost in the world of ballet, and came out buzzing with excitement and inspiration.
Speaking of inspiration, "Swan Lake" reminded me that tutus have been an integral part of ballet history, evolving with time, but never losing their graceful and romantic appeal. The early tutus were more like simple skirts, barely brushing the dancer’s knees. But as ballet developed, so did the tutu, evolving into the iconic garments we know and love today.
A Pink-Centric Parisian Dream
To make the whole experience even more delightful, I discovered the most enchanting pink dress shop, right near my hotel! It was crammed with everything a girl with a passion for pink could ever want. There were fluffy pink handbags, dazzling pink sequin tops, and a bevy of shoes that sent my sartorial heart into a flutter. It was a girly wonderland that could only have been imagined by a tutu-loving dreamweaver!
Of course, I left the store with my pink shopping bag overflowing. And what's a pink outfit without a perfect pink tutu? Fortunately, I found a beautiful new one in the store - with delicate lace details, and the perfect shade of bubblegum pink that matched my handbag and the door of my hotel! It's a must-have, my dears, and I can't wait to share a peek at it with you on my Instagram page!
