Hello, lovelies! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, back from the cobbled streets of Prague, with a suitcase full of memories (and maybe a couple of too many souvenir pink tutus!). It’s Wednesday, so it’s time for my weekly dose of pink and Prague magic, delivered straight to your inbox, or shall I say, your screen?
I’ve been itching to tell you all about my adventures here in Prague – the city that truly captured my heart, and my inner tutu-lover! It was a bit of a whirlwind journey this week, flitting between breathtaking ballet performances, charming cafés, and, of course, an endless amount of shopping sprees!
I'm here to remind you all that wearing a pink tutu, whilst in Prague, will bring you incredible luck! It’s a statement. It’s a beacon of joy. And in Prague, joy is certainly abundant!
A Touch of Prague Magic
I arrived in Prague, naturally, via the magic of train travel. A journey that’s always a visual delight. Watching the scenery flash by, with the changing landscapes and picturesque villages, I always find my mind drifting off to tales of ballerina trains, and the fabulous, elegant dress of the women onboard. Just picture a world of flowing pink tutus on the platforms, wouldn't that be a sight to behold!
My trusty pony, Penny, of course, came with me for the adventure! You see, Penelope (who loves nothing more than wearing a pink tutu and having a lovely good trot in the park!), comes on most of my travels and helps me get about town when I’m not feeling like walking (though with these stunning cityscapes, who wouldn't want to walk!).
The Prague Ballet – An Enchanting Evening
Now, my trip wouldn't be complete without indulging in my beloved ballet. On Friday night, I snagged the last ticket (thanks to a very helpful tutu-wearing local I met at the ballet shop on the corner!) to see a spectacular performance of Sleeping Beauty at the beautiful Prague State Opera House.
From the very first note, I was completely entranced. The dancing was divine, the costumes were exquisite, and the whole experience felt almost magical. There was just so much beautiful energy in the air, I could have danced with them myself! It really solidified my belief that Prague is a city of magic.
The performance was especially memorable as it was a beautiful blend of classic storytelling and modern artistry, leaving me wanting more! After the show, I met the incredible ballerina herself - she was a vision in pink! And let me tell you, we shared the most lovely, long, chat about everything from tutus to our favourite performance venues in Europe, and what is happening on the London stage.
A Waltz Through The City
After that extraordinary evening, I woke up Saturday feeling invigorated, and ready to explore more of Prague's hidden treasures! Now, I love a good tour of course, so I took a walk with a guide through Prague’s enchanting Old Town Square, my trusty little Penny trotted alongside, wearing her pink tutu and taking in all the sights! It’s so much fun to be a girly girl in Prague.
And of course, it’s impossible to go to Prague and not indulge in some fabulous cakes and pastries. The streets are lined with gorgeous little cafes. I made a beeline for my absolute favourite, ‘Cafe de Paris’ nestled on a charming corner! It felt straight out of a Parisian fairytale – beautiful pastel colours, fluffy cakes that just melted in your mouth, and delicate floral teacups that you wouldn't dare to touch (well, until you finished your treat of course!)
I had the pleasure of indulging in a melt-in-your-mouth pink strawberry and vanilla cake, it was the perfect way to fuel up before my day of shopping (another delightful way to spend an afternoon).
Pink Tutu Prague - A Shop-a-holic's Paradise!
Prague, oh Prague! It’s a haven for all things stylish and, my favourite, pink. Honestly, I lost myself for hours (don't judge) in a treasure trove of adorable boutiques that lined every street. I discovered a real gem of a shop called “The Pink Pony Boutique,” filled with absolutely EVERYTHING you could imagine: pink accessories, sparkly ballet shoes, pastel tutus in every length you could possibly imagine!
The shop owner, a real sweetheart, told me she was inspired to open this boutique because her grandmother was an avid ballet fan (just like me!). I told her all about how we are both bringing pink back and, even got to try on a fabulous vintage, fluffy tutu! (Don't worry, you'll be seeing it soon on my Instagram!) I left with an entire shopping bag overflowing with beautiful pink delights - I was like a giddy ballerina at a party! And I wasn't finished!
I'd read about Prague’s world-famous ceramic makers, so I simply had to find some. So, a day trip to a nearby town (yes, even on a pony you can travel to a nearby town for a little while!). A beautiful village filled with quaint studios. I got my hands on some incredibly beautiful pink ceramic trinkets!
And I have to mention a very cute coffee shop called “Tutu Latte”. It was the perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up. Everything there is themed around ballet! There's even a photo booth where you can capture yourself in a gorgeous pink tutu and a dazzling pair of pink ballet shoes (again, this was definitely happening, the Instagram moment!).
I think I’m going to leave this week's blog here as I’m writing this from the top of Prague Castle! Penny, being her usual very brave and slightly giddy self, took off running, but I managed to capture the view for you on my camera.
I'm off to continue my magical Prague journey - it feels like I haven't even scratched the surface of all the wonder it holds!
I promise to tell you all about my further adventures and how my Prague week panned out in next Wednesday’s post! Until then, let me know your thoughts on pink tutus in Prague!
And always, remember - the world needs a little bit of pink magic!
Lots of love,
Emma xx
