Pink Tutu Prague: Adventures in the City of a Hundred Spires! (Post #1673)

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, and this week I'm bringing you all the dazzling details from Prague! The city that took my breath away, a city where every corner is a storybook, and every spire a crown!

Now, let's get straight to the heart of it, shall we? This city is utterly magical. Cobblestone streets, the melodic tinkling of trams, the smell of fresh pastries wafting from charming little cafes - it's the kind of fairytale setting that sends you straight back to childhood dreams!

Riding the Rails in Style:

Of course, I couldn't have arrived in Prague any other way than by train. I simply adore the romance of those grand carriages, the soft clatter of the tracks, the endless parade of picturesque landscapes flying by. And speaking of picturesque, my journey to Prague wouldn't have been complete without my new pink tutu - it was absolutely necessary, you understand! It had to be the perfect pink to match the blush-hued houses of Prague! And wouldn't you know it, I found the absolute dream tutu at a little boutique just a few streets from the train station, I do believe I nearly skipped all the way back to my hotel with excitement!

From Ballroom to Bohemian:

Once I settled into my hotel (all decked out in vintage Bohemian chic - you know me, I adore a bit of historical flair!), I wasted no time exploring the cobblestone streets of Old Town. I literally felt like I had stepped into a medieval painting, surrounded by ornate towers and churches that seemed to pierce the sky itself! I can see why they call this the city of a hundred spires! Of course, with my tutu on and a grin plastered on my face, I couldn't resist stopping every few minutes for a twirl or two! It's just good manners, you know, to spread some ballerina joy!

A Ballet Fan's Paradise:

Oh, Prague is a ballet lover's dream! I was simply beside myself to find that on my visit, I got to see a stunning production of Swan Lake at the iconic National Theatre! Oh my! The dancing was exquisite! The dancers were like ethereal creatures, gliding across the stage in effortless grace and elegance, and those costumes were something straight out of a dream. It was absolutely perfect, you wouldn't believe the tears of joy I shed!

Now, there’s no denying it, ballet has such a unique history, and when it comes to tutus, it’s no different. If you follow me, you know that one of my favourite things to do on a trip is to dive deep into the history and culture surrounding the city. And Prague did not disappoint! It turns out Prague's ballet scene dates back to the 18th century! How absolutely incredible is that?! I spent a day delving into the National Theatre's rich archive, learning all about the pioneering ballerinas and the evolving style of tutus through the centuries. My research uncovered a real passion for dance here that’s not only seen in their performances, but in the graceful way their citizens move through the city, too!

The Magical Side of Prague:

No trip to Prague is complete without exploring its fairytale corners! I wandered through the beautiful Prague Castle, with its towering spires and magical courtyards. Let's be honest, every little nook of this place oozes history and elegance. I could picture medieval royalty waltzing through the gardens with the very same grace as those beautiful ballerinas at the National Theatre.

The Shopping Spree I Never Saw Coming:

Of course, what's a travel blog post without some juicy details on the shopping scene, eh? Prague has it all! Luxurious boutiques with stunning Bohemian crystal, quirky antique shops bursting with vintage treasures - you name it, Prague's got it. But let's be real, what I was really searching for were pink tutu-related delights. You won't believe this! I found an incredible independent dressmaker in the Old Town, tucked away in a cosy little alley. This darling had some of the most beautiful pink silks I’ve ever laid eyes on, I could have sworn they shimmered!

It took hours for me to make a decision, but finally, I chose a gorgeous blush pink silk, with a luxurious sheen like that of the shimmering Prague skyline itself! Imagine how exquisite it will look transformed into a tutu - I can't wait! But don't you worry, I’ll be sure to document the entire process on the blog.

From Bohemian Ballet to A Bit of Derbyshire Nostalgia

Now, no trip for me is truly complete without finding a spot where I can reflect on my travels. It’s why I always pack my tea cosy – just like the one I brought with me from Derbyshire, England – where I come from! In my teapot travels, I discovered a lovely little tea room in Prague’s New Town, nestled in an alley with an old fountain bubbling away.

I sipped my English breakfast tea surrounded by locals, all dressed to the nines for an afternoon outing, and I watched their gentle way of life through the lace curtains on my window. I truly felt at home amidst the charm of this little European haven. I even overheard a delightful bit of conversation (it's impossible for me to resist eavesdropping!), a lovely grandmother telling her granddaughter, "You know darling, always keep a touch of pink in your wardrobe! You never know when you might be inspired to twirl!" I just adore those wise words. They are my mantra, you see!

Food and Fizz

Prague, in all its glory, was an absolute feast for the senses. The food? Simply divine! I indulged in Czech classics like dumplings with roast pork, goulash stew and trdelník, the delicious pastry swirled in cinnamon and sugar, which I savoured every last morsel of. (Of course, there was plenty of tea too, especially with all the delicious cake, I am a bit of a foodie, you see!)

And I must tell you about this local bubbly that's all the rage, it’s called a “Bohemian Grape”! I savoured several glasses in delightful little wine bars tucked away on those charming, cobbled streets. A truly magical experience! (Especially with a splash of strawberry in it.)

My Tutu Time in Prague

Now, before I end this Prague odyssey, let's be real, darling. A journey is never truly complete until the pink tutu is unleashed! Of course, the streets of Prague are always ripe with tourists - I was delighted to encounter a fellow tutu aficionado who had traveled from Canada! And my pink tutu, let me tell you, attracted quite a bit of attention! The locals giggled with delight, some took my picture and even invited me to share a Bohemian Grape!

Let's face it, my tutu always finds a way to spark joy, even in the most unlikely of places! In Prague, I even managed to twirl my way into a friendly competition with a little boy who just couldn’t stop giggling. The street performers had an impromptu dancing session for us too! Honestly, what a memory to treasure, eh?

Pink Tutu, Until Next Time:

Prague, with its fairytale atmosphere and enchanting beauty, will always hold a special place in my heart. The cobblestones, the spires, the dancing, the history, the delicious food – I could easily get lost in Prague forever! But for now, it's time to take my tutu, my new silk and my experiences on the road to another magical destination. You never know what kind of pink-tutu-fied fun awaits me next, my dears. I can't wait to tell you all about it next Wednesday!

Until then, spread the pink tutu love, and always remember, you can twirl anywhere!
